The key here is also light balance upon the home and with mature plantings surrounding the front foundation it was accepted that I could perform aesthetic pruning and corrective pruning on the plant materials for more optimal light placement and positioning. One of our other sample apartment project was completed for a reputable Jaipur builder. The room could be designed as we wanted, as long as it was aesthetically pleasing. A bright, calming well organized home in a New Orleans condominium. This was the 3rd home I have done for this client and she wanted a more feminine but modern approach to her future permanent home. Everything is extraordinarily comfy but feels open and accepts her amazing art collection well without being over whelmed. The peek into the chic powder room is enticing, and the laundry is well hidden inside of the same room.

Designer: Terri Becker Construction: Star Interior Resources For this luxurious kitchen remodel, we removed the marble counter tops and installed quartz counter tops with a waterfall edge for the island. We altered the cabinetry to accept new sub-zero stainless steel appliances, we painted the existing cabinetry a cool gray, added stunning structural porcelain Emser tile in the kitchen and wet bar for the back splash, installed 60" stainless steel under mount sink with two faucets. We installed a custom sliding barn door for the pantry.

The client decided to reface her kitchen cabinets rather than paint or replace them. The sadly outdated Oak cabinets had a green stain which was very outdated. Changes made to the existing cabinets prior to the refacing included: • Adding a new cabinet over the fridge (the old one was long since removed as a new fridge was too tall • Eliminating the range fan hood cover to allow for a new microwave/fan combination and a new cabinet overhead • Modifying the existing microwave cabinet to now accept two full height doors • Adding a new upper cabinet to the right of this, in matching dimensions • Adding a new base cabinet below this new upper (right of the dishwasher), which includes a small cutlery drawer and two tall pot drawers. The new drawers are full extension and feature Blum SoftClose technology • Installing two new tall pot drawers to each of the base cabinets to the right and left of the range For the cabinets, Alder in a Golden Maple stain was used for the cabinet refacing, which included “plant-on” panels everywhere. A “Raised Panel” Shaker style of door and pot drawer was used with slab fronts chosen for the smaller cutlery drawers throughout. A new 3 ½” crown molding was added to the upper cabinets. Blum SoftClose hinges were used for all door closures. New Richelieu Knobs and handles in a brushed satin finish were chosen to complete this warm and inviting transformation. This client is EXTREMELY HAPPY with this transformation, and the good news – this price was about half of the cost of replacing the existing cabinets with ‘all new’.

I was recently asked to survey an unusual stone floor at a house in in Harrogate comprising of Slate inlaid with Granite. The client advised that it had not been cleaned properly for 20 years and wanted it renovating! It was now definitely overdue a deep clean and professional attention. Fortunately, having worked on these floors for many years I knew I could make a substantial impact and transform its appearance. Fossilized slate is a beautiful stone when cleaned and sealed correctly. The owner confessed they had actually been sealing the floor every two years but without a deep clean first, so they were effectively sealing in the dirt each time. I discussed with them the process I would use to clean and re-seal the floor and we agreed a price to carry to out the work. To remove the layers of old sealer and dirt used a set of Tile Doctor Diamond Burnishing pads. The pads are attached to a rotary floor machine starting with the coarse 400-grit pad which was lubricated with a dilution of Tile Doctor Remove and Go to help strip the floor of dirt and layers of sealer. After rinsing and extracting the soil I worked through the different grades of pads in sequence finishing with the 1500-grit and this time using just water for lubrication. A set of diamond handheld burnishing blocks were then used to clean up the edges and corners where the large 17” pads struggle to reach. This ensures all areas are treated and free of dirt and old sealer. The floor was then rinsed and extracted again to remove the remaining soil. I find a wet vacuum is an invaluable tool for this. The floor was then left to dry out overnight ready for sealing the next day. I returned the next day to seal the floor, first checking with a damp meter that the floor was dry, and the moisture reading was below the acceptable level. These results were fine, so I had a green light to continue and seal the stone. The customer wanted a shine on the floor so rather than apply a satin sealer which I felt wouldn’t adhere to the stone properly I decided to polish the floor further with a the last of the four burnishing pads which is a very fine 3000-grit pad. You don’t need to use a lot of water with this last pad just a small amount sprayed onto the floor using a technique we refer to as a ‘Spray Burnish’. To seal the floor, two coats of Tile Doctor Colour Grow were applied. This is an impregnating matt sealer which intensifies the natural colours of this beautiful stone and provides long lasting durable protection. Even I was impressed with the finished result but more importantly the client was over the moon. To keep the floor looking its best I recommended they use Tile Doctor Stone Soap which is pH neutral. You should always read the label in detail when choosing a floor cleaning product as many are too strong and not recommended for sealed stone surfaces as they will prematurely erode the sealer. A minimalist planting and aesthetic was requested with a palette as closely resembling the modernist gardens of Palm Springs as possible here in the Pacific Northwest. Challenge accepted! A front path of block pavers was laid in a geometric pattern for high functionality while also feeling fresh and young. Lots of structural plant choices in blues and light greens align with the requested plant style while also providing a deer proof and drought tolerant planting.

In 2021, Reynard Architectural Designs accepted its first design project. Our team partnered with Tobars Dobbs to transform a tiny, abandoned ranch in West Atlanta into an expansive contemporary modern home. The first floor, existing brickwork, and main structure where kept in tact. The original ranch was a closed floor plan with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms with an extended hallway. All the interior finishes, appliances and walls were removed to convert the home into an open floor plan that maximizes space on the first floor. The finished home is a modern contemporary design that doubled the number of bedrooms, created four accessible outdoor decks, and created a fresh look that balances simplicity with plenty of character. The home on Shirley Street takes advantage of minimalist/modern design elements, clean white countertops and cupboards that are complimented nicely by classic stainless steel finishes. The original ranch home was once confined and segmented. Now, an open stairway that is bathed in natural light leads to the main living space above. Low profile jack and jill vanity mirrors, a soaker tub with a view, and a spacious shower all highlight the serene master bathroom. The master bedroom makes great use of light with a small, private transom above the bed and easy outdoor access to a private patio deck behind the main sleeping quarters. A private getaway shaded by the surrounding live oaks is just what's needed after a long day at work. The home on Shirley Street features four of these private patio decks that provide additional entertainment and relaxation space.

After receiving a referral by a family friend, these clients knew that Rebel Builders was the Design + Build company that could transform their space for a new lifestyle: as grandparents! As young grandparents, our clients wanted a better flow to their first floor so that they could spend more quality time with their growing family. The challenge, of creating a fun-filled space that the grandkids could enjoy while being a relaxing oasis when the clients are alone, was one that the designers accepted eagerly. Additionally, designers also wanted to give the clients a more cohesive flow between the kitchen and dining area. To do this, the team moved the existing fireplace to a central location to open up an area for a larger dining table and create a designated living room space. On the opposite end, we placed the "kids area" with a large window seat and custom storage. The built-ins and archway leading to the mudroom brought an elegant, inviting and utilitarian atmosphere to the house. The careful selection of the color palette connected all of the spaces and infused the client's personal touch into their home.
