Instead of his and hers’ vanities, the homeowners decided to keep the original set up with two sinks in a 60″ vanity and a separate dressing table. Isn’t this skirted stool the homeowner found precious? Love the functional handle on top for ease of movement. One change we did make to the footprint was to reverse the location of the shower and toilet. This allowed for a more private area for the toilet and a slightly larger shower. We took the same wall tile midway in the shower and then add these gorgeous glass subway tiles to the ceiling. The seamless glass door and upper glass wall give the shower an even larger feel. Notice the square shape of the shower head is repeated in the cabinetry hardware. The half wall in the shower was the perfect spot for a niche and corner bench. As toilets go, this one is handsome. I love the base – again, we repeated the square shape. We accessorized the small wall leading into the closet with this set of 9 white succulent flowers. They look great against the wall color and really add dimension to the corner. We added a furniture valance to the dressing table as well as cocooned the top with this interesting quartz countertop which tied our color scheme together. Dynamic Garage Door specializes in Tuscan Architectural beautification in the Newport Beach, CA through our custom designed and hand made architectural shutters, garden gates and garage doors. This Newport-Mesa Tuscan home was exquisitely decorated with a combination of custom gates, decorative shutters and balcony barn door style shutters all handcrafted out of authentic, century-old reclaimed barn wood specifically harvested for this custom project. Beginning with the balcony shutters which actually slide from side to side like a real barn door we worked a charming rustic shutter design that would typically be seen in the Tuscan Riviera. We opted for sliding shutters as the balcony spacing limited the swing action of even bi-folding shutters. Incorporating real barn door hardware railing and crowing it behind the faux reclaimed wood beam made an excellent statement while adding functional shutters that can be shut close for comfort during the summer morning when the sun beats down into the master suite. The four shutter leafs are decorated with real hand forged dummy straps that were hammered and crafted by hand to achieve that gorgeous rustic charm typical of Tuscan architecture. The reclaimed barn wood from a century-old barn gives off a timeless appearance that increase in characters as the years go by. Because rustic barn wood has already aged beautifully over hundreds of years, the next century will only increase its authentically gorgeous appearance. The culmination of this project has been a meticulous collaborative input of our in-house head designer and the clients themselves. Although the completion of this project is lengthy and intricate, the results speak volumes and the wait simply justifies the outcome. The rest of thew windows on this Tuscan home have been accessorized with rustic barn wood as well and accentuated with our custom designed and handmade dummy iron hinge straps. Our dummy hardware is so authentically done in the same tradition used for hundreds of years in Europe to create shutter hardware that looks authentic and functional although it is only decorative. The details of our custom shutters is evident in the slightest of details including the bolts used to hold the shutter straps in place. Each of the shutter also has a decorative ring pull with a hand-hammered back plate which enhances the appearance of true functional shutters and defining that authentic Tuscan look. The beauty of this Tuscan home is visible throughout the entire property including the garden gates, garage doors and entry door. Again, for the garden gates, we went with rustic barn wood carefully crafted to preserve the original surface that has aged over hundreds of years but building the gates on galvanized steel frames that will ensure structural durability for the next few hundred years. The gates are highly secure, sound and can definitely hold back a crowd with authentic rustic charm. Don't be fooled with the simple-looking gate design. It is quite intricate with its 45 degree angle cuts around the perimeter of the trim which deviates water away from crevices that would otherwise make the gates vulnerable to the accumulation of moisture from the elements, sprinkler system or simply air humidity since the home is located near the ocean. Each one of the garden gates is equipped with European style mortise lock mechanisms and roller catches. This galley style kitchen design is a bright space featuring Dura Supreme Highland door style in a white finish. The kitchen cabinets are contrasted by a Silestone countertop in charcoal soapstone color with a suede finish, accessorized by Top Knobs polished chrome hardware. A paneled Sub-Zero refrigerator and Asko dishwasher match the cabinetry. A custom wood hood with a Modern Aire hood liner also matches the white cabinets, giving the kitchen a fluid appearance. The kitchen cabinets include ample customized storage solutions, like the pantry cabinet with roll out shelves, narrow pull out spice rack, and tray divider. A large C-Tech undermount sink pairs with a Riobel pull down sprayer faucet and soap dispenser. A Wolf double wall oven and range offer the perfect tools for cooking favorite meals, along with a Sharp microwave drawer. The bright space includes Andersen windows and a large skylight, which offers plenty of natural light. This family residing on North Euclid in Upland, requested a living room they could actually live in. A space that was not too formal but nodded toward formality in a subtle way. They wanted a space where many people could gather, converse, watch TV and simply relax. The look I created I call “California French Country”. I achieved this by designing the room in layers. First I started with new dark wood floors to match their staircase. Then I had Board and Batten installed to accentuate ceiling height and give the room more structure. Next, the walls were painted above the Board and Batten Mood Indigo by Behr and the ceiling beams white for a clean, classic, crisp, fresh look. I designed custom inverted pleat drapes with a navy blue band to be installed. A new chandelier in loft area was installed to go with the existing entry chandelier from Restoration Hardware. Then it was time to furnish the space according to my new space plan. I used a mix of new and existing pieces, which most were repurposed and refinished. New furnishings included a goose down sofa, wool rug, tufted navy ottoman. Existing pieces I reused were the armoire which I had finished in a cranberry to match loft chaise. A wing back chair , ottoman, cane back chair and client’s entry bench that was made by her father were all reupholstered. I had a custom marble table top fabricated to sit atop 2 antique Chinese meal box holders that the client has been holding on to, which created the perfect entry table. I accessorized the room with red, blue and white accents to give the room that “lived in” feeling. The loft houses a large antique mirror that I found in a local shop, a velvet chaise to lounge and their daughter’s artwork was hung in the loft area to make the space feel like their own little getaway.

The beautiful shingle home was built several years prior, but progress stalled and the interior was never fully finished off, creating more of a weekend crash pad than second home. We had 4 months to fully furnish and accessorize the 4+ bedroom home before they hosted a large family reunion. We tackled a function problem first. The home, with its open floor plan, had multiple types of flooring, which only served to chop up the space. Worse, most of the flooring was cream carpet and not suitable for waterfront living. We replaced the mismatch with durable driftwood floors that will stand up to years of sandy feet and party spills. We selected and installed all the finishing touches - furniture, window treatments, accessories, bedding and art. And we beat our reunion deadline by a week, giving the homeowners a chance to enjoy it all to themselves before the guests arrived

It’s been said that when you dream about a house, the basement represents your subconscious level. Perhaps that was true in the past, when basements were often neglected. But in most of today’s new builds and remodels, lower levels are becoming valuable living spaces. If you’re looking at building or renovating, opening up that lower level with sufficient light can add square footage and value to your home. In addition, having access to bright indoor areas can help combat cabin fever, which peaks in late winter. Looking at the photos here, you’d never know what you’re seeing is a lower level. That’s because a smart builder knew that bringing natural light into the space was key. Our job, in furnishing the space, was to make the most of that light. The off-white walls and light grey carpet provide a good base. A grey sectional sofa with clean, modern lines easily fits into the spacious room. It’s an ideal piece to encourage people to spend time together. The strong, forgiving linen resists staining, and like a blank canvas this true neutral allows for accessorizing with various throws and pillows depending on the season. The cream-colored throw echoes the light colors in the space, while the nubby pillow adds a textured contrast.

Having moved from a smaller home into a much larger space, our clients needed help picking out finishes like flooring, paint colors and lighting. We then went on to furnish and accessorize all their main living spaces and bedrooms in a style that was both modern yet timeless. We incorporated the work of independent local artists to create a layered home that represented our clients and their style. We are so proud of the haven we’ve created!

This is the dining room, I wanted this room to make a statement. The paneling design on the wall was already white, so I decided to paint the walls needlepoint navy. I dressed the window with a white custom drapery and bronze drapery rod. I used a live edge table with white dining chairs. The rug was my inspirational piece for this room, it just brought everything together. The one piece that the customer had to have was cotton, so I accessorized the table with a vase with cotton and brought in a blue table runner and some white dishes.

This amazing beach house was in desperate need of a refresh. Our clients had a vision of how they wanted their home to look, but didn't quite know how to get there. A complete renovation was the solution. Our team went to work creating a classic design, including a new modern kitchen. We used a light gray shaker cabinet on the perimeter with a dark stained shaker on the island. Contrasting quartz counter tops with a drop miter edge add interest and texture. Blown glass pendant lights illuminate the island, while LED under cabinet lighting is used to create ambiance throughout the kitchen. Custom upholstery including sofas, chairs and ottomans in warm grays, browns whites and blues create generous seating areas in the common living spaces.. A built in bench seat piled with cozy pillows lets you take in the beautiful sunsets and water views. We love the use of reclaimed barnwood on this project. We used planks with worn crackled paint on the partition wall in the master bed room, vintage stained wood for the laundry room barndoor and thick timbers for the fireplace mantle and floating wall shelves. Lots of salvaged coastal treasures and sea glass are used to accessorize the home and give it that little extra touch. Our clients just loved the final result, and its certainly one of our favorites as well!
