Zieba Builders has worked with these clients on several projects in the past and were once again so excited to bring their dream to life by remodeling their 2nd kitchen and dining area. The existing kitchen was compartmentalized as many period homes are here in Southern California. By designing a large island, relocating appliances, using space from an adjacent hallway, and adding 8’ high French doors, we completely changed the feel of the space while keeping the historic feel. The space is now much brighter, and our clients' spectacular ocean view is more visible from the new kitchen doors. As for the finishes, French doors were added with Cremone Hardware to complete the look of elegance. We added Polished Neolith Estaturio for the counters and absolutely beautiful Collingwood colored cabinets. We used the same Polished Neolith Estaturio cut into smaller pieces for the border of the floor and white Hexagon tiles in the field of the floor. The honey bronze finish of the cabinet hardware looks stunning. An art wall was added to their dining area to add texture and depth.

This home looks like it has always been in the established community of Lakeview. It fits in like a charm. The builder was Niro Developments and the Architectural Design was done by Scala Design. This colorful client was excited to bring color into their home and make it their own. The bold colorful artwork adds pops of color throughout. We love the custom hoodfan by Hammersmith in the kitchen, and the blue on the island. This client did customize their home and make it their own. It was so fun to help them!

Another fun Crestview project! This young couple wanted a back yard that reflected their bohemian-eclectic style and could add additional privacy from the ever climbing construction around them. A place for “hanging out and drinking coffee or beer in the backyard.” But what was most exciting, was the air stream they had just purchased and were in the process of restoring. With the end goal of using it as a guest home for family and friends, we were challenged with creating a space that was cohesive and connected this new living space with the rest of the yard. In the front we had another quark to fix. The sidewalk from their front door to the street suddenly stopped 5 feet from the curb, making a less than inviting entry for guests. So, creating a new usable entryway with additional curb appeal was a top priority. We managed the entertainment space by using modern poured concrete pad’s as a focal. A poured concrete wall serves as a bench as well as creates a visual anchor for the patio area. To soften the hard materials, small plantings of succulents and ground cover were planted in the spaces between the pads. For a backdrop, a custom Cedar Plank wall and trellis combined to soften the vertical space and add plenty of privacy. The trellis is anchored by a Coral Vine to add interest. Cafe style lighting was strung across the area create a sense of intimacy. We also completed the fence transition, and eliminated the grass areas that were not being utilized to reduce the amount of water waste in the landscape, and replaced these areas with beneficial plantings for the wildlife. This home, located near downtown Elmhurst, IL, needed the works -- furnishings, paint, and art throughout. Since we worked with her previously, we had a good idea of the client’s design aesthetic and were excited to create something new and fresh! New construction allows a blank slate for interior design, but it can lack in personality. Our client’s goals were to bring warmth and textural elements into her new home. We were most excited to curate artwork for each of the rooms while creating complimentary flow between the pieces and throughout the open floor plan on the main living area. First, we set the mood with a muted color palette. Next, we added layers of texture with contrasting fabrics and rugs to really make a statement in this new construction home. Overview Whole house refurbishment, double storey wrap around extension and large loft conversion. The Brief Create a WOW factor space, add glamour and fun and give the house a street side and garden side, both different. Our Solution This project was exciting from the start, the client wanted to entertain in a WOW factor space, have a panoramic view of the garden (which was to be landscaped), add bedrooms and a great master suite. We had some key elements to introduce such as an aquarium separating two rooms; double height spaces and a gloss kitchen, all of which manifest themselves in the completed scheme. Architecture is a process taking a schedule of areas, some key desires and needs, mixing the functionality and creating space. New spaces transform a house making it more valuable, giving it kerb appeal and making it feel like a different building. All of which happened at Ailsa Road.
