The concept of the garden was based on, “Brazilian Hummingbirds II”, a painting the MFAH has in its collection by the artist, Martin Johnson Heade. Heade travelled to the rainforest in Brazil between 1863 and 1864 and painted a
series of small paintings depicting hummingbirds in the lush foliage of the Brazilian rainforests. His painting, Brazilian
Hummingbirds, II, evokes the sultry atmosphere of the Brazilian rainforest with its misty quality and subtle lighting. His interest in ornithology can be seen in his detailed depictions of the hummingbirds. The garden location is adjacent to one of Buffalo Bayou’s steep, wooded ravines. The ravine, with its native plant communities and topography, is a perfect back-
drop for a garden with a rainforest theme. Because the date for the garden opening coincides with the spring migration of hummingbirds into our region, the hummingbird theme seemed appropriate for this garden competition. The garden will include a variety of tropical plants native to the rainforests such as bromeliads, orchids, heliconia, and passion fruit flowers. In addition, native plants to our region such as the Sabal Minor and Southern Wood Fern will be included to integrate
plants that are found nearby in the ravine. The Heliconia flowers produce considerable amounts of nectar, a high energy food essential for hummingbirds who are known to consume three times their bodyweight in a single day. In addition to nectar producing plants, there will be hummingbird nest materials dispersed throughout the garden. A misty quality to the garden will be provided by a misting system, and tropical colored lights will be lit at night for special events. Visitors to the garden will have a unique sensory experience reminiscent to that of Heade’s travels to Brazil’s rainforests.

Priority Remodeling's Exquisite One-Bedroom ADU Project
In the world of home improvement and design, every so often, a project emerges that flawlessly marries aesthetics with functionality. The recent completion of a one-bedroom Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) by Priority Remodeling stands as a testament to this golden rule.
As one steps into the space, the first thing that catches the eye is the immaculate and contemporary design of the room. Muted gray walls serve as the perfect backdrop, enhancing the natural brightness of the room, thanks to the strategically positioned windows. The window blinds, neatly tucked away, provide options for privacy while allowing natural light to illuminate the space.
The minimalist office area showcases a sleek wooden desk paired with a luxurious leather chair. A simple potted plant adds a touch of organic green, giving a nod to the importance of biophilic design elements. With ample space for working or studying, it offers the perfect environment for productivity and focus.
Transitioning into the bedroom area, the understated elegance continues. The centerpiece - a comfortable bed with crisp white linens - invites rest and relaxation. The headboard's unique nailhead trim design adds a touch of sophistication without overpowering the room. Adjacent to it, a cozy sitting area with a leather lounge chair and throw pillow makes for an ideal reading or relaxation spot.
Both practical and aesthetic, the choice of wooden flooring complements the neutral color palette, warming up the space and providing continuity. The floor seamlessly ties the different areas together, creating a cohesive and harmonious environment.
In sum, Priority Remodeling's recent ADU project is a masterclass in modern interior design. Each element has been meticulously chosen and placed, ensuring both functionality and beauty. This ADU is not just a living space; it's an experience. A testament to the prowess and vision of Priority Remodeling.

In recent years, Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) have surged in popularity among homeowners, and for a multitude of good reasons. These self-contained living spaces, often constructed in the backyard or converted from existing structures like garages, bring forth a myriad of benefits:
Additional Income Stream: One of the most immediate benefits of an ADU is the potential for rental income. Homeowners can rent out these units to tenants, providing a steady stream of revenue that can help offset mortgage payments or other expenses.
Increased Property Value: Well-designed and constructed ADUs can significantly increase a property's value. It's not just about the added square footage but also the flexibility and functionality that such a space offers.
Housing Flexibility: ADUs can serve multiple purposes over time. They can start as a home office, transition to a living space for a college-going child, and later serve as a residence for aging parents. This adaptability is invaluable in ever-changing life scenarios.
Sustainable Living: Smaller spaces typically consume fewer resources, both in their construction and daily operation. This makes ADUs an environmentally friendly choice for those keen on reducing their carbon footprint.
Community Building: ADUs can help address housing shortages in dense urban areas. By providing affordable rental options, they contribute to community diversity and vitality.
Privacy with Proximity: For families looking to support relatives (like elderly parents or adult children), an ADU offers the perfect balance. Family members live close by, fostering connection and support, yet both parties maintain their privacy.
Cost-effective Expansion: Compared to the costs associated with buying a larger home or constructing a full-fledged home addition, ADUs often present a more economical solution to gaining extra living space.
Incorporating an ADU into one's property is not just about creating additional space but about unlocking a range of benefits that enhance both the financial and functional aspects of homeownership. As seen in Priority Remodeling's recent project, an ADU can also be a pinnacle of design and comfort, proving that with the right vision, even compact spaces can offer a grand living experience.

Lemon Remodeling Earns Diamond Certified®!
Scores Highest in Quality in Local Service Company Customer Satisfaction Study
Lemon Remodeling a design and build construction business in the bay area, has been awarded the prestigious Diamond Certified symbol after being rated highest in quality in ongoing customer satisfaction ratings performed by American Ratings Corporation.
In order to earn Diamond Certified, a local service company must apply to be rated by American Ratings Corporation (ARC) and pass each step of its twelve-step rating and certification process. ARC actually pulls a random sample of past customers from the applicant company’s files and surveys typically 100 customers by telephone. Not only do the customers rate the applicant company on a 1 to 10 scale for quality, but also they indicate their willingness to return or refer other consumers to the company. Most companies can’t pass the rating because a customer satisfaction survey score of greater than 90 on a 100 scale is required. In addition, ARC verifies liability and workers’ compensation insurance, state license status, complaint status, business practices, financial stability and legal judgment status. Additionally, ongoing customer satisfaction surveys are conducted to ensure the Diamond Certified Company is maintaining its high customer satisfaction.
“Our entire team at Lemon Remodeling is pleased to earn this prestigious award. And, it is especially gratifying because it’s based on our customers’ perception of our quality,” said the owner of Lemon Remodeling and Services.
“Personally, I’ve been focused on rating local service companies for the past 20 years and I’m always impressed at how certain organizations are so focused on satisfying their customers. Your Company Name is one of those special companies,” said the Founder and CEO of American Ratings Corporation.

The proper storage of spices is a chronic problem in kitchens. Most consumers rely upon what appear to be well-designed storage cabinets that did not have the flexibility to accommodate spice containers of different sizes. The Buckingham Group provides end-cabinet storage with adjustable shelves that will organize the storage of up to 120 different spices.

Exposed brick walls, dark joinery and contrasting textures and soft furnishings allows this space to have a lovely homely feel while still being a contemporary family home. A wood burning fire in the sitting area creates a toasty corner, even in an open plan room. A multi use space for entertaining and family life this project is still a hit, and a favourite of ours and the public. The space can be opened up to bring the outside, in. By opening up the huge sliding glazed doors onto the patio you create an even larger space where life can spill out into the garden, and equally lets nature into the home with a breath of fresh air.
