The Saint Albert The Great, Newman Center project is a multiple phased project that includes the development of a new church and teaching facility. The first phase of the project involved the demolition of housing adjacent to the existing facility. A new chuch is intended to be built on this site. The church design includes a large seating area for visitors with vaulted ceilings and diffused day-lighting. Additional spaces included within the church design are: an entrance lobby with a gift shop and coffee shop, an exterior yard/ colombarium, a marian, a sacrisity, a multi-purpose room, an audio room and a reconciliation room. The overall design intent of the project was to create a modern church facility with traditional aspects that relate to the established image of the Saint Albert the Great Church and the missionary architectural style of the region.
The second phase of the project includes the construction of “Ministry” for the campus. This facility houses a mult-purpose teaching space as well as a recreational area for youth. Additionally, the new facility aims to distribute food to the needy through a bodega and a small kitchen. This phase of the project involves some demolition and renovations to the existing Newman Center facility.
The final phase of the project includes the construction of the Education Building for the campus. This facility is equipped with multiple teaching and office spaces for the Church’s youth education programs. The design intent for this facility was to appeal to the youth through the use of modern and inviting design elements.

Designed and building supervised by owner.
Tile: Country French in 3 size 2 thickness 3 color blend
This residence sits on the corner of a T junction facing a public park. The color blend of the roof compliments perfectly the soft shades of the stucco and quickly mellowed down so that the house blends perfectly with the established neighborhood.

This was a re-model and addition to an existing residence. The original roof had been cedar but the architect specified our handmade English tiles. The client wanted a brown roof but did not like a mono dark color so we created this multi shaded roof which met his requirements perfectly. We supplied Arris style hips which allows the roof to fold over at the corners rather than using bulky hip tiles which draw attention to the hips.

The Gillman Garden by Victoria Fensterer of Victoria Fensterer Landscape and Garden Design, LLC
Flowers overflow in this lush, sun-filled garden for a charming and historic farmhouse. The landscape for this Amangassett retreat includes a courtyard and pool area. In the courtyard garden, a central axis provides structure to the design while old large evergreens provide height and a sense of enclosure. A rose pergola and vine-covered arbor lead to garden spaces beyond.
An existing pool was recreated into a more organic shape, lined with large stones and boulders. Small evergreens complement older established ones, creating a secluded enclave. The patio was paved with warm-hued stone and edged by planting beds. Here the plantings take on a tropical feeling. A rustic pavilion provides a cozy place to sit and observe the light dancing off the water and to listen to the sound of birds and wind in the trees.
On the south side of the property, the landscape architect planted a group of large broadleaf and needled evergreens to provide privacy and year-round interest. Additional windows were added to the farmhouse to take full advantage of the beautiful view. Photo by Robert Eckholm

Lacking street presence and an inability to enjoy the natural beauty of the surrounding landscape, this 1940’s hipped roof bungalow sat unassumingly on its site in the prairie west of Junction City.
The vision of this renovation was to transform and bring new life into the bungalow, keeping within regional vernacular styles, by establishing a more prominent street presence, building a three-story addition to the original house, and bringing in more light to allow for expansive views of the surrounding prairie.
The renovation of the existing bungalow required removing overbuilt layers of gypsum board and plaster and lath to reveal the original dimensional 2x4 wall studs. The basement was structurally reinforced to adequately support load bearing walls. The house became more functional by resizing two bedrooms with a relocated Jack and Jill expanded bathroom and expanding and reconfiguring the living room and kitchen to create an open floor plan. A storm shelter was added underneath a new front porch to give protection and peace of mind during Kansas severe weather. The street presence was dramatically improved with new windows, updated siding, and a new gabled roof extending over a front porch.
A three story addition to the rear of the house improves function on the first floor with the addition of a dining room directly off the kitchen with large wrap around windows to the south and east. A second full bathroom and adjacent laundry room was added to the first floor. A second floor master suite and full bathroom includes a balcony and expansive windows to the south and east. The stair tower connecting all levels of the house culminates in a 360° viewing room on the third floor allowing for unobstructed views of the natural landscape and passing thunderstorms.

Occasionally our initial intentions are slight. As the excitement of anew begins, revisions and additions are undeniably part of the winning recipe.
Lovers of entertainment, these clients’ hankering for both comfort and play were the catalysts for this neo-rustic design.
A waterfront property where both the façade and courtyard are clad with 12 foot high curtains walls.
The heart of the home has been established as the ‘Boys Room’. To the right of the bar area are smoked full height windows providing a picturesque backdrop to the hobbyists’ six car garage.
The floors and walls are thoroughly dressed with solid hickory graphite lumber.
The essence of the massive spruce ceiling beams is mimicked in the offset bar console.
The Casino Royal poker sphere leaves no stone unturned with the service area directly in its wake. Duel full height liquor storage units render a brief moment of colorful eye candy. Industrial style filament light fixtures lend to a delicate glow.
Directly below the metal star spangle, access to the workshop goes undetected.

Site constraints meant that this addition to a 1973 house designed by noted Texas architect Frank Welch could not be contiguous with the existing structure, while neighborhood restrictions dictated that it conform to the style of the existing house. Containing family room and bar with space for entertaining, the new building shares a number of both new and renovated outdoor spaces, while both are completely screened from the street by landscaping and trees.
