In today’s real estate market, positioning your home to stand out is everything. This homeowner reached out to us about repainting their exterior, and after reviewing the property, we recommended a full color update to help their 20‑year‑old home rise above the sea of similar tract‑built two‑stories in the neighborhood. The right exterior palette immediately elevated curb appeal and created a stronger first impression for buyers. To further boost value, we guided them through a small but impactful kitchen refresh, including new quartz countertops, and wrapped the project with a complete interior repaint to give the home a clean, modern, move‑in‑ready feel. At Deskins Group, our background in real estate, architecture, and construction allows us to advise homeowners strategically — not just on what looks good, but on what actually moves the needle on resale value. Every recommendation is intentional, every upgrade is ROI‑driven, and every project is designed to help you maximize your investment.

The compact powder room adjacent the kitchen in this modern home is adorable but very tiny, and the pedestal sink does not allow much space for placing any items -- neither functional or decorative. This poses a problem for a family, including kids, who are frequently using the bathroom for handwashing. Soap bars get messy and go sliding onto the floor, and there is simply not enough real estate for a liquid soap dispenser. The Grohe Essentials Cube Wall Mounted Soap Dispenser ($70) is a great solution. The dispenser mounts easily with a couple screws, either directly into a stud, if you can find one that lines up where you want to place the holder, or with anchor screws in dry wall or plaster. Because of the pressure the dispenser might have to withstand when the user presses down on the spring-loaded top to pump out the soap, a stud mounting is preferred. Additionally, I advise placing the dispenser over the sink ledge in case there is spillage, so that it does not end up on the floor.

A tribute to modern architecture, designed by Lee Skolnick, this home resides on fourteen acres in Sag Harbor, NY. Kristen Elizabeth Design joined the team to advise on all interior design elements from surfaces to furnishings and create a modern, minimal vibe while maintaining a warmth that says home. We worked with the clients to blend treasured family heirlooms with styles that are trend forward, but timeless in design. Furnishings and textiles are neutral and softly hued and rooms are fluidly linked with old and new. The vision was to break out of the comfortable traditional style they were accustomed to and build outside their comfort zone with a modern and minimal vibe. Kristen Elizabeth Design worked with the clients to keep them focused on materials and styles that are trend forward, but timeless in design. Furnishings and textiles provide soft color and pattern.

Shiplap was added to the tray ceiling and painted to match the walls for an additional design detail and to give the light fixture a more complete and finished surrounding. Design consultation and advising for DIY/Budget Renovation. Owner purchased this condo with a very cramped and dated kitchen and light fixtures, and early 2000s-era café paint colors. Owner did a lot of the work himself or with friends to keep the budget down. HDC advised on design details and paint colors, chose light fixtures (ceiling lights for kitchen and dining and arch floor lamp in living room). HDC also assisted with creating a new kitchen floor plan, which involved removing one wall, replacing existing tile and modifying flooring transition location, replacing all cabinetry except for the tall pantry cabinet, choosing cabinet paint, installing modern cabinet hardware, replacing laminate counters with a budget white quartz prefab counter, replacing appliances, sink, and faucet, and installing a low-cost peel & stick backsplash. Due to budget constraints, we could not remove the entire wall between the kitchen and dining space to make the wall completely flush from the kitchen to dining area transition, but decided to relocate the refrigerator to that wall nonetheless, in order to improve sightlines and improve traffic flow and function for refrigerator access. We created a coffee/drinks bar where the original fridge was located. The owner decided to keep the existing water line that had serviced the ice maker in the fridge where it was previously located (and cap it temporarily). He plans to plumb it in the future to support a filtered drinking water line and auto-filling coffee maker to finish out the drink center. Ultimately, we couldn't stretch the budget for a perfect layout, but we were still able to improve the function and open up the flow of this hub of the condo for better entertaining and more convenient homeowner use of the space.

SDH Studio - Architecture and Design Location: Golden Beach, Florida, USA Located on a waterfront lot, this home was designed as a narrative of the family’s love for green, quiet and light infused spaces. The use of natural materials in its architecture emphasizes the relationship between the structure and its surroundings, while a sequence of private/public spaces lead to an oversized cantilevered overhang that integrates the interior living area to the landscape.

This homeowner was looking for a way to elevate their living room. When they bought this home in Florida, they knew they wanted to add a Fireplace somewhere and give themselves the same cozy feelings they are used to from their northern home. We advised on location, placement, and style of this beautiful feature wall. All they needed was the perfect tile, a fantastic piece of live-edge wood, a pop-in fireplace, and a man-approved TV. We worked in partnership with Start to Finish, Inc in Parrish, Fl. Photos by Visual Edge Photography in Sarasota, Fl.
