VISION AND NEEDS:
Our client came to us with a vision for their dream house for their growing family with three young children. This was their second attempt at getting the right design. The first time around, after working with an out-of-state online architect, they could not achieve the level of quality they wanted. McHugh delivered a home with higher quality design.
MCHUGH SOLUTION:
The Shingle/Dutch Colonial Design was our client's dream home style. Their priorities were to have a home office for both parents. Ample living space for kids and friends, along with outdoor space and a pool. Double sink bathroom for the kids and a master bedroom with bath for the parents. Despite being close a flood zone, clients could have a fully finished basement with 9ft ceilings and a full attic. Because of the higher water table, the first floor was considerably above grade. To soften the ascent of the front walkway, we designed planters around the stairs, leading up to the porch.

Scaredy Cat Cottage
Normally when we do a "Collected Kitchen" it is in a Log Cabin, Stone House or a Pennsylvania Farm House. Not often do you see a country style farm house in a Florida on the water setting.
We did a collected kitchen in this house in whites, greys and curly maple, It has curly maple and soapstone counter tops and sink, with heart pine floors. The exterior doors were a dark mahogany. It has a very Southern "Farm House" feel. The owners were very involved in the design of the house. My country kitchen looks really awesome in this more high end setting.
The Scaredy Cat Cottage was completed in November 2014. The low country style home was designed to look like a new "old" home and is situated on a beautiful riverfront site in Ormond Beach. The house has 3,350 SF of conditioned living space, a three car detached garage, ample storage in "bonus" attic spaces, and 700 SF of covered porch areas. The house is open and airy with many windows throughout, affording stunning views of the beautifully landscaped property, the swimming pool, outdoor living spaces, and of course, sunsets over the river.
We also did the pantry, laundry, master bath, guest bath and powder room.

This beautifully designed freeform inground pool creates a serene escape right in your backyard. The pool's organic shape, paired with a smooth, textured concrete deck, provides a seamless transition between the water and the surrounding landscape. The shallow lounging area is perfect for relaxing on hot summer days, while the deeper sections invite you for a refreshing swim.
Safety and style combine with the addition of a sleek black fence, ensuring that the pool remains secure without sacrificing the view of the lush greenery that frames the space. The rock-lined perimeter adds a natural touch, blending the pool into its environment while maintaining a clean, modern aesthetic.
HB Pools has crafted this project with attention to every detail, ensuring both durability and beauty. The poolside lounge area provides ample space for sunbathing or socializing, making this the perfect outdoor retreat for both families and guests.
At HB Pools, we focus on delivering high-quality, functional outdoor spaces that meet our clients' needs for both safety and relaxation. This project is a prime example of our commitment to excellence in design and craftsmanship, ensuring that your pool will provide enjoyment for years to come.
This project description emphasizes the pool’s elegant freeform design, safety features, and natural integration into the landscape while highlighting HB Pools' dedication to quality and customer satisfaction.

This remodel was one worth waiting for! Clients had a need for more storage, more counter and more room for entertaining friends and family. They love color and low maintenance materials so we went with a lovely happy green cabinet color, quartz counters, fun large hex porcelain floor tile and easy to clean backsplash. The original kitchen was lacking good flow, ample storage for this family.
We started in the laundry room but re configuring the layout so now the W/D and fridge could be on one wall which opened up space for a drop area. We removed the old small closet that was the pantry and replaced the old water heater with a tank-less one to allow more place where they needed it the most. Drop area has outlets for charging and one in the broom cabinet as well. We removed the door to allow for us to relocate the garage entry door which now sits in the mud room instead of right in the middle of the kitchen. We added an actual walk in pantry which is equipped with drawers and plenty of shelf storage, we put the small appliances in here to allow for more counter space in the kitchen. To access the kitchen is now through a pocket door which is a big space saver and allows a more open feel.
Let's get to this kitchen design! This was a odd layout before, now we have the fridge tucked away in it's proper home instead of sticking out. We relocated the garage entry door to the mud room to allow for this 36" range in its place featuring a pot filler as well. To maximize the kitchen footprint we closed up the door that went to the office and now we have a full L corner with plenty of storage and added some wood shelves for a sense of warmth and displace space in a beverage bar area, which also features an under-counter beverage fridge. Under-cabinet lighting, island fixture , a pendant above the sink and relocated the recessed lights to work better with the new kitchen layout. The island was a new addition which replaced the peninsula that used to cut off the kitchen from the rest of the home. We also removed a built in bookshelf and relocated the return air to the ceiling to free up even more floor space to truly transform this kitchen into the heart of the home.

This transitional-style kitchen masterfully blends elegance with functionality. High-end appliances ensure top performance, while the antique pantry door adds a touch of vintage charm and character. A thoughtfully designed peninsula and island provide ample workspace and seating, creating an ideal setting for both cooking and entertaining. The Blue Tahoe quartzite countertops offer a striking contrast with their rich, deep hues, complemented by the Franke apron sink, which combines classic appeal with modern efficiency. Custom marble Carrara countertops, custom-made by Walker Zanger, infuse the space with timeless luxury. Custom cabinets, tailored to perfection, complete this kitchen's sophisticated and cohesive look

Natural beauty was the inspiration behind this principal bathroom renovation, keeping with a light and neutral palette. The waterjet cut backsplash in a water lily pattern combined marble and onyx, giving depth and interest to the space. The remaining tiles are Glassos, a porcelain tile that mimics Thassos marble, but will never discolor with time. Beautiful sculptural Brizo plumbing in polished brass gives this design the sparkle and traditional essence without feeling dated. Cleverly-designed, the double vanity give ample storage while taking the tight quarters into consideration, topped with white quartz for durability. Brass and alabaster sconces and flush-mount lighting play off the plumbing unifying the design of this stunning bathroom.
