this early 1990's condo needed a complete gut. we tore down walls to create an open concept and created visual impact by applying fir slats over a popcorn style ceiling. not only did the slats save us time and money by not having to scrape the ceiling but also gave us flexibility with the lighting plan. Products making their television debut in this project were Anthology Woods Northwest Blend (a naturally weathered wood installed on a section of the ceiling, unfinished) and the extremely hard & durable Left Coast White Oak, a unique species growing only in a narrow strip of Oregon and bit in California & Washington (installed for the flooring, finished with Rubio Monocoat White natural oil). The homeowners were able to easily apply the finish themselves prior to installing the floor, and the zero VOC nature of the oil insured it was safe to move right in! The White tint to the oil gives a subtle white-washed look to the floors while maintaining a natural look and a supple feel underfoot. The couple participating in the episode loved their floor so much they decided to add more, installing it in their master bedroom, as well! The rich character of this natural Oak in a flat sawn (the old "European" way to cut Oak) wood product adds a timeless element & warmth to the feel of the space. Looking closely at the grain, you'll see cathedral patterns in many boards, along with a great mix of flat grain with rift areas as well. Finishing out the details of the room, the Bath Crashers team added natural carerra marble in the shower with tones of white & gray, and apron-front vanity sinks for extra charm.

One of the details added to the makeup vanity was this lovely chair. The wood frame was painted black and this beautiful white and turquoise fabric was used to reupholster the seat and back. With a Blue Pearl Granite fish clenched in her jaws, a black Limestone mama black bear with Tiger eye eye and crushed tiger eye muzzle exchanges wary looks with an equally alert bull Elk made from sandstone and sporting travertine antlers, who guards his mate as she takes a drink from the pond and a break from her fawn. The fawn, made from Granite with crushed Marble spots, ear, and Black Travertine eye and nose, naps nearby. The Black bear’s hungry cub climbs boulders to see what the hold-up is. Mountains of Colorado Granite stone with crushed white Agate and white Marble snow tower over the Blue Sodalite lake. Green Granite pine trees sit off to the sides. The stream the bear is standing in and the pond the elk are drinking from/standing in are both different Granites resurrected from a stone fabricator’s dumpster. Little Quartz chips makeup the stream splash/froth. The mosaic background is Travertine/stone pebble mixture. I glued on my signature ladybug before applying a high-quality enhancer and sealer.

The client requested a spa like feel with rustic influences to capture the ‘up north feel’. She also requested a desk/vanity for storage and function. We delivered on all points. The Century bed with a leather surround and branch posts combines today’s design influences with the great outdoors. The Bernhardt side chests and dresser provide plenty of storage while exhibiting style and convenience. The auto closure drawers and push style openings make this piece a gem. The lamps by Rejuvenation were the client’s pick and worked well with the furnishings. The waterfall area rug by Surya complete the look with warmth, comfort and color to coordinate client’s artwork over the bed. The built in vanity by Stillwater Cabinetry of Petoskey has plenty of storage space behind beautiful custom painted doors. The mirror hides medicine cabinet shelves for additional storage. The lighting emits perfect hues for applying make up and dressing table function. We had the plugs and switches installed inside the upper cabinetry for ease and application.
