In order to refinish and re-stain this deck in Parsippany, NJ we first had to remove the existing dark, almost black stain. We started with a thorough, high-pressure power-wash with bleach. We then used Sherwin Williams’ brand “SuperDeck: Stain & Sealer Remover” chemical stripping/cleaning solution. It was applied liberally, scrubbed, brushed and rinsed off. Since this deck was constructed with Western Red Cedar – a wood with a chemical tannin – we needed to restore the wood with SuperDeck’s “Revive”, which nuetralizes the wood’s natural tannin and restores it to a bright, clean, bare-wood deck. “Revive” is not a cure-all, however. There were still spots of old stain and tannin bleed after the stripping and cleaning, so we power-sanded the entire surface of both decks using coarse- to fine-grit sanding discs. It was finally stained with Sherwin Williams brand SuperDeck Semi-Transparent deck stain in "Classic Barn Red".

Seamless Construction Inc has recently completed this remodeling project in Mission Viejo, where we renovated the backyard, front yard, driveway, and sides of the property.
We used the Melville Plank Pavers by Belgard, specifically choosing the elegant Victorian color and we installed 3,000 sqft of Sod, creating a vibrant and fresh landscape. We also installed around 750 sqft of pavers in the driveway, 1,800 sqft of pavers in the side yard and backyard areas.
To maintain a cohesive look for the surrounding planter wall, we used the Diamond 9D stone in the Victorian color, the same color we used for the Melville Plank Pavers, from @belgardoutdoorliving and we incorporated a Charcoal bullnose cap on the top, providing a striking contrast.
Additionally, we designed and constructed a beautiful walkway, seamlessly connecting the driveway, front yard, and backyard. We also built a wooden balcony where the team chose pressure-treated wood renowned for its resilience against outdoor elements. A high-quality primer and paint was applied, resulting in a visually appealing and inviting space.
In regard to the outdoor kitchen, we ensured that it seamlessly blended with the existing house by finishing it with Stucco. For the countertop of the outdoor kitchen, we selected Dekton, a superior material for outdoor applications. Dekton offers the beauty of quartz or porcelain while providing exceptional durability and resilience. It combines the best features of both materials, resulting in a countertop that not only exudes elegance but is also highly practical for outdoor use.
As the focal point, our team designed and built a stunning fire pit from Angelus Gray stonewall with a Charcoal bullnose cap, accompanied by a comfortable seating area behind it.

Deck was originally stained with Cabot's stain and the previous jobs were never stripped off before staining, so there was a hard "varnish" of stain built up in many areas. The entire deck was sprayed with maxxum's biodegradable deck stripper and washed off, leaving beautiful, bright, clean wood. A top coat of Sikkens SRD stain in Cedar was applied by brush to all surfaces.

THE SHADOW HOUSE IS A PRODUCT OF THE CONTEXT IT SITS WITHIN, YET IT SUBVERTS IT AT THE SAME TIME. IT’S IMPOSSIBLE TO IGNORE IT UP CLOSE, YET FROM AFAR IT DISAPPEARS INTO THE ETHER. A TINY LOT, A LARGE PROGRAM, RESTRICTIVE ZONING REGULATIONS AND AN INVOLVED NEIGHBORHOOD INTEREST GROUP WERE THE CONSTANT AND UNRELENTING PRESSURES THAT CREATED THIS HOUSE — AND THE RESULT IS BETTER OFF FOR IT.
THE SCALLOPED SHINGLES ARE A COMMON ELEMENT ACROSS THE NEIGHBORHOOD, BUT ARE OFTEN RESERVED FOR DETAIL AREAS UNDER EAVES, AS THE MATERIAL WAS VERY EXPENSIVE ONE HUNDRED YEARS AGO. WE TOOK THAT HIGHLY-SPECIALIZED, VERY EXCLUSIVE MATERIAL AND APPLIED IT AS A BROAD, MASS-PRODUCED TEXTURE ACROSS THE ENTIRE RESIDENCE — TAKING SOMETHING FROM HIGHLIGHT TO BACKGROUND TEXTURE. THE SILHOUETTE DIRECTLY ECHOES THE ITALIANATE HOMES IN THE LARGER NEIGHBORHOOD — BUT WE STRIPPED THE TYPICAL ORNATE, DECORATED FAÇADE BACK TO UTTER MINIMALISM. WE ENLARGED THE TYPICAL WINDOW SIZE TO EXAGGERATE THE RIGID SYMMETRY OF THE STYLE, AND BROUGHT THEM TO THE FLOOR AND THE CEILING TO PROVIDE AS MUCH LIGHT AS POSSIBLE — AND THEN RECESSED THEM DEEP INTO THE FAÇADE TO MIMIC THE HEAVY BRICK AND STONE LINTELS OF THE PAST.
THE HOUSE IS BLACK — THE ONLY COLOR IT COULD BE. IF WE’D PAINTED IT UP LIKE ITS VICTORIAN SISTERS, IT WOULD’VE COMPETED FOR ATTENTION. BLACK CAUSES THE HOUSE TO SIMULTANEOUSLY DISAPPEAR AND STAND OUT — IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO IGNORE WHILE YOU’RE WALKING PAST, BUT A FEW BLOCKS AWAY IT BECOMES IMPOSSIBLE TO DISCERN AGAINST THE BACKGROUND.
TWO BEDROOMS WITH EN-SUITE BATHS, FLOOR-TO-CEILING WINDOWS, AN AIRY AND OPEN STAIRCASE AND A MASSIVE GLASS ROOF DOOR MAKE THE SHADOW HOUSE IMPOSSIBLY LIGHT AND OPEN — YET IT’S ONLY 1,400 SQUARE FEET ON A 30’ X 50’ LOT.

Our client required some minor repairs and a fresh coat of paint on her mother's West Newton home. The house was initially washed by hand using bleach, jomax and soft bristle brushes. The trim, casings, siding and doors were all scraped, hand sanded, spot primed and applied two new coats of paint. The siding was matched with Sherwin Williams Java, while the trim and doors were SW Soft Fawn and Brevity Brown. Upon working on the home, our crew discovered two rotted sills on the garage windows that were then replaced, along with a rake board overhand that was replaced with pressure treated wood.

IN this photo you can see that all of the mold has been washed away without damaging the wood. After we had a clean surface we applied a semi-transparent slate stain sealant.

Needing more shower space in the Master Bathroom lets remove the Jacuzzi tub, create a pony wall for the shower, and enlarge the shower from a single to double. This double shower has Brazos Beige ceramic tiles by Daltile on walls and multi natural stone mosaic flooring by Merola Tile Riverstone, with built-in corner seat, shared built-in soap caddy, and let's not forget the best feature of all the his & her shower unit which includes: rain showers, sprinklers, select values and thermostatic value. Since there is not a shower door the slope was created as a ramp to center of drain keeping the water in. The frameless shower glass attached to the pony walls has the Diamon-Fusion an award-winning innovative technology that protects any silica- based surface such as glass. With light pressure, it takes out "etched in" water spots and mineral deposits such as line scale, calcium, oxidation, iron, alkali, mildew, mold, soap scum, paint and salt spray. Diamon-Fusion applied properly on glass comes with a 5 year warranty. To see more pictures please visit us at www.TexasHometown Remodeling.com.

Underdecking porch. Atlanta Curb Appeal also added some visual panache by dressing up the columns, screen frames, and posts with cedar. Cedar is truly a gorgeous choice for decks. Wood stains were also applied to increase durability and to add color. It’s fun to have options! The flooring that was chosen for this new East Cobb deck and porch was also cedar. While most people choose pressure-treated pine in the South for savings, the cedar is a beautiful wood that allows the deck to smell and look fabulous! It’s worth it if it’s in the budget!
