Nicolock oyster blend rustico pavers being sealed in Huntington NY 11743. The sealing process begins with pressure washing the entire patio, removing all dirt/debris from the stone surface and in between the joints. Next, Nexgel Techniseal synthetic sand is applied in between the pavers joints and vibrated with a mechanical plate compactor. The plate compactor has rubber rollers to prevent the stones from cracking or scratching. This vibrating process allows the sand to fall in between the joints and density. Then, we clean the pavers with brooms and landscape blowers, to clean the excess sand from the pavers surface and to evenly spread the sand in between the pavers joints. The next step is to wash the pavers by misting water to penetrate the synthetic sand into the paver joints all the way down below the pavers. The sand and water activate a chemical reaction of the pollen that’s in the sand to cause the sand to harden. Finally, the application of the sealer, two parts components urethane dealer, specially formulated for Gappsi, is applied to the pavers surface and the sand joints to prevent stones from staining, extend their life cycle and further enhance their texture, color, and surface. Call Gappsi at 631-543-1177 for any cleaning, sealing, paver driveways/patio restoration and repairs in Huntington Bay NY.

Underdecking porch. Atlanta Curb Appeal also added some visual panache by dressing up the columns, screen frames, and posts with cedar. Cedar is truly a gorgeous choice for decks. Wood stains were also applied to increase durability and to add color. It’s fun to have options! The flooring that was chosen for this new East Cobb deck and porch was also cedar. While most people choose pressure-treated pine in the South for savings, the cedar is a beautiful wood that allows the deck to smell and look fabulous! It’s worth it if it’s in the budget!

Four unit, red oak bookcase with a niche on both ends for display of large statues. The curved doors seen on the right have no visible hardware thanks to a pair of Blum Tip-On devices which push open the door when pressure is applied.

This client has existing exposed pebble concrete. Rescrete and the client came up with the solution to modernize the space without demo. We applied a smooth custom color micro-cement concrete overlay to all the borders and trim to create a more custom looking concrete. For the remaining exposed pebble concrete, Rescrete simply pressure washed and applied a light masonry sealer to maintain a natural patina with a refreshed look.

Deck was originally stained with Cabot's stain and the previous jobs were never stripped off before staining, so there was a hard "varnish" of stain built up in many areas. The entire deck was sprayed with maxxum's biodegradable deck stripper and washed off, leaving beautiful, bright, clean wood. A top coat of Sikkens SRD stain in Cedar was applied by brush to all surfaces.

Patio, walkway, and front steps were built by Gappsi in Wyandanch Long Island, NY in Suffolk County. The stone used is over-sized ridge brick and ridge circle pavers in a golden brown blend. The pavers are mixed randomly in square and rectangular sizes. This stone has a textured riven surface and slightly chamfered edges. The sealing process begins with pressure washing the entire patio, removing all dirt and debris from the stone surface and in between the joints. Next, Nexgel Techniseal synthetic sand is applied in between the pavers joints and vibrated with a mechanical plate compactor. The plate compactor has rubber rollers to prevent the stones from cracking or scratching. This vibrating process allows the sand to fall in between the joints to densify. Excavation of this Gunite swimming pool in Roslyn, NY is started by marking up and laying out the pool according to town setbacks. We proceed with framing and establishing the pool shell’s rough height. Then the excavator will dig and shape the hole, preparing it for rebar installation. After the # 4 rebar is installed, creating a cage that outlines what will be the final shape of the Gunite swimming pool. The Gunite cement shell is installed by applying a mix of sand and Portland cement through a pump system which is pushed through a nozzle with the force of compressed air. As the cement comes out from the nozzle, water is sprayed simultaneously to create a bond between the sand and cement, forming the Gunite pool shell. In this particular pool, we also molded an autocover box on the deep end of the pool, and swim out bench with the same Gunite cement process. On the shallow end of the pool steps were also shaped in Gunite expanding across the width of the pool. At this stage the Gunite pool shell will be left to cure for 28 days, and water will be sprayed on the concrete shell daily to help the shell petrify. Stub plumbing is installed through the Gunite walls for future connection of plumbing pipes. The skimmers are also placed in the pool before Gunite is sprayed, which encases them in concrete. Plumbing for the bottom drains, and pressure relief valve are placed in the floor, in case in the future the pool needs to be emptied and ground hydraulic pressure is under the pool due to high water tables. On top of the pool shell, along the length of the pool a groove is left in the shell for future installation of the Auto Cover track. The pool shell was constructed 10″ wide for the wall and 8″ wide for the deep end bowl and shallow area floor. Gappsi provides Gunite, Vinyl, Fiberglass Swimming pools and Hot Tubs for Residential

THE SHADOW HOUSE IS A PRODUCT OF THE CONTEXT IT SITS WITHIN, YET IT SUBVERTS IT AT THE SAME TIME. IT’S IMPOSSIBLE TO IGNORE IT UP CLOSE, YET FROM AFAR IT DISAPPEARS INTO THE ETHER. A TINY LOT, A LARGE PROGRAM, RESTRICTIVE ZONING REGULATIONS AND AN INVOLVED NEIGHBORHOOD INTEREST GROUP WERE THE CONSTANT AND UNRELENTING PRESSURES THAT CREATED THIS HOUSE — AND THE RESULT IS BETTER OFF FOR IT.
THE SCALLOPED SHINGLES ARE A COMMON ELEMENT ACROSS THE NEIGHBORHOOD, BUT ARE OFTEN RESERVED FOR DETAIL AREAS UNDER EAVES, AS THE MATERIAL WAS VERY EXPENSIVE ONE HUNDRED YEARS AGO. WE TOOK THAT HIGHLY-SPECIALIZED, VERY EXCLUSIVE MATERIAL AND APPLIED IT AS A BROAD, MASS-PRODUCED TEXTURE ACROSS THE ENTIRE RESIDENCE — TAKING SOMETHING FROM HIGHLIGHT TO BACKGROUND TEXTURE. THE SILHOUETTE DIRECTLY ECHOES THE ITALIANATE HOMES IN THE LARGER NEIGHBORHOOD — BUT WE STRIPPED THE TYPICAL ORNATE, DECORATED FAÇADE BACK TO UTTER MINIMALISM. WE ENLARGED THE TYPICAL WINDOW SIZE TO EXAGGERATE THE RIGID SYMMETRY OF THE STYLE, AND BROUGHT THEM TO THE FLOOR AND THE CEILING TO PROVIDE AS MUCH LIGHT AS POSSIBLE — AND THEN RECESSED THEM DEEP INTO THE FAÇADE TO MIMIC THE HEAVY BRICK AND STONE LINTELS OF THE PAST.
THE HOUSE IS BLACK — THE ONLY COLOR IT COULD BE. IF WE’D PAINTED IT UP LIKE ITS VICTORIAN SISTERS, IT WOULD’VE COMPETED FOR ATTENTION. BLACK CAUSES THE HOUSE TO SIMULTANEOUSLY DISAPPEAR AND STAND OUT — IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO IGNORE WHILE YOU’RE WALKING PAST, BUT A FEW BLOCKS AWAY IT BECOMES IMPOSSIBLE TO DISCERN AGAINST THE BACKGROUND.
TWO BEDROOMS WITH EN-SUITE BATHS, FLOOR-TO-CEILING WINDOWS, AN AIRY AND OPEN STAIRCASE AND A MASSIVE GLASS ROOF DOOR MAKE THE SHADOW HOUSE IMPOSSIBLY LIGHT AND OPEN — YET IT’S ONLY 1,400 SQUARE FEET ON A 30’ X 50’ LOT.

The driveway installation started with the excavation of existing asphalt and sub base.
