The client wanted patio space for a chair so she could relax in the sun when the mood struck. The only spot in the yard with any sun is near the fence gate. A full-range New York Bluestone patio was added using 30” x 30” slabs. These slabs are dry-set so leveling was a challenge.

the bamboo is a clumping variety called Bambusa eutuldoides viridi-vittata , Asian lemon bamboo. This variety is a clumper and you do not need to contain it, however, do allow an 8'by 10' area for its ultimate growth. Bamboo does require constant maintenance and you will need to do some research for the specific variety you choose. A line of arborvitae was used to create a natural privacy fence along the boundary. Irregular bluestone was then laid in a stepping stone pattern up to the vinyl picket fence.

The magnolia tree near the entry is the only remaining vestige of the former landscape. It and the newly installed arborvitae provide a pleasing garden view from the kitchen window of the home. An uplight on the tree emphasizes its form and green canopy.
