Bold color choices and skylights brighten up this kitchen space. One playful aspect of this design includes the rubber-type light fixtures over the island, creating a contemporary feel. Warm-earthy tones compliment the blunt-orange pantry color. The over-sized island features walnut butcher block countertops that contrast the quartz countertops to the side. Also included in this project are stainless steel appliances and a textured tile backsplash.

The Home
The Knollwood’s exquisite exterior is inspired by American architect Frank Lloyd Wright. It is a prairie architectural style, containing elements to blend in with the natural surroundings. This custom floorplan was specifically designed with a unique arrangement to allow each room on the main level to experience a Pikes Peak view and abundant sunlight.
A wall of sliding windows in the great room and lower recreation room showcases the panoramic view of the three-acre, treed property to blend indoor with outdoor living. Rich warm woods, organic elements and soft grays are complimented by vibrant pops of color and black in this Frank Lloyd Wright meets mountain contemporary style home.
Drawing inspiration from the classic prairie-style exterior, the interior of the home creates the perfect setting to enjoy the breathtaking Pikes Peak view. The home features massive stone columns, custom wood beams and an exquisite oversized entry door. The home is enhanced with warm, wood cabinets and rich, live-sawn, oak flooring, which compliments the crisp gray wall color perfectly. Quartz waterfall accents, sleek modern light fixtures and custom tile details throughout create a luxurious feel. The beautifully designed spacious floor plan and expansive outdoor living area make this a great space for relaxing at home or entertaining!

The carpet was chosen, as it can be used of stairs as well, which ensured continuity between the lower and upper floor. It is as soft as velvet underfoot, perfect for their young son to sit on the floor and play.

This private residence involved construction of a modern architectural style estate property in Highland Park, Texas. Dee Brown Inc’s role came into play late in the project, when corrections were needed to some specialty stonework.
The home’s center is formed around the main entry. The floorplan is largely open, but parallel core wall areas serve to define the foyer, kitchen, dining, and living areas. As key areas, the architect put special focus on materials selection for the core walls. It was decided that Indiana limestone would be the finish, and that the cladding panels would all have unique continuous horizontal grooves.
Material was received and installed by the original subcontractor. Upon seeing the completed work, it was evident to the architect and owner that grooves in the fabricated material were not consistent, and that the installation process had left numerous chips to the panels. It was at this point that the partially completed work was removed, and the second fabricator/installer was contacted.
Dee Brown Inc ordered the Indiana limestones slabs. There, special care was taken to hold tight tolerances to the horizontal grooves as well as to the typical cut-to-size aspects. Erection of these mechanically set panels was done very carefully. The result was a clean finished product with none of the tolerance and chipping issues of the original installation.
Dee Brown, Inc also created and installed special stone finishes at the adjacent half-bath. Semi-precious white onyx was transformed into a lavatory top/bowl assembly, water-closet wall cladding, and even tissue and towel holders.

This fun playroom was designed for three-year-old twins, Samantha and Gabriel. Functionality was included in all aspects of this design. The sofa bed can serve as an extra sleep area when needed, but is also a cozy place to cuddle up with a book. There are areas to draw, do crafts, paint on an easel, do legos at the lego table, or "cook" in the two kitchens. Bright, whimsical artwork covers the walls. Recessed lighting, a ceiling fan with light, and a floor lamp add ample lighting.

This design journey embraced vibrant colors and country-inspired aesthetics while ensuring a timeless and practical layout for a large family and their pets. The result is a lively yet enduringly stylish space that seamlessly blends modern rustic elements with unique details. From striking cabinetry to playful tile accents, every aspect was carefully crafted to refresh and enhance the heart of the home.

Texture plays a role in Gothic interior design
Creating a textural interplay of forms, rhythm, and proportion in context with the original vision and architectural design. An architectural element should dominate the space by presenting that it coexists with other aspects of the space or home, such as a fireplace, headboard, or cabinetry. Other elements with gothic influences are classically pointed or arched doors, windows, and flying buttresses, distinguished from Romanesque period detailing. Then the typical white walls become a layering of textural properties that envelope other forms in contrast of light and dark (Chiaroscuro), creating elements of luxury that convey both the personal and creative styling – making the ultimate statement for the homeowner. – https://victorliberatoreinteriordesign.com/

When a client tells us they’re a mid-century collector and long for a kitchen design unlike any other we are only too happy to oblige. This kitchen is saturated in mid-century charm and its custom features make it difficult to pin-point our favorite aspect!
Cabinetry
We had the pleasure of partnering with one of our favorite Denver cabinet shops to make our walnut dreams come true! We were able to include a multitude of custom features in this kitchen including frosted glass doors in the island, open cubbies, a hidden cutting board, and great interior cabinet storage. But what really catapults these kitchen cabinets to the next level is the eye-popping angled wall cabinets with sliding doors, a true throwback to the magic of the mid-century kitchen. Streamline brushed brass cabinetry pulls provided the perfect lux accent against the handsome walnut finish of the slab cabinetry doors.
Tile
Amidst all the warm clean lines of this mid-century kitchen we wanted to add a splash of color and pattern, and a funky backsplash tile did the trick! We utilized a handmade yellow picket tile with a high variation to give us a bit of depth; and incorporated randomly placed white accent tiles for added interest and to compliment the white sliding doors of the angled cabinets, helping to bring all the materials together.
Counter
We utilized a quartz along the counter tops that merged lighter tones with the warm tones of the cabinetry. The custom integrated drain board (in a starburst pattern of course) means they won’t have to clutter their island with a large drying rack. As an added bonus, the cooktop is recessed into the counter, to create an installation flush with the counter surface.
Stair Rail
Not wanting to miss an opportunity to add a touch of geometric fun to this home, we designed a custom steel handrail. The zig-zag design plays well with the angles of the picket tiles and the black finish ties in beautifully with the black metal accents in the kitchen.
Lighting
We removed the original florescent light box from this kitchen and replaced it with clean recessed lights with accents of recessed undercabinet lighting and a terrifically vintage fixture over the island that pulls together the black and brushed brass metal finishes throughout the space.
This kitchen has transformed into a strikingly unique space creating the perfect home for our client’s mid-century treasures.
