This award-winning custom home is a traditional craftsman style house with many contemporary attributes. It sits on a five acre parcel up high on a mountain that has commanding views of the entire Puget Sound, including Brentwood Bay, the Gulf Islands, Mount Baker, Victoria, and the Olympic Mountains. This home was a recipient of the 2020 People’s Choice from the Victoria Residential Builders' Association's CARE Awards. The custom cabinetry is remarkable. There is built-in cabinetry in almost every room of the house. This home is built to be timeless with its light colour-scheme. All cabinetry, rooms and countertops are white and the multitude of windows bring in natural light and show off the surroundings.

Our inspiration for this home was an updated and refined approach to Frank Lloyd Wright’s “Prairie-style”; one that responds well to the harsh Central Texas heat. By DESIGN we achieved soft balanced and glare-free daylighting, comfortable temperatures via passive solar control measures, energy efficiency without reliance on maintenance-intensive Green “gizmos” and lower exterior maintenance. The client’s desire for a healthy, comfortable and fun home to raise a young family and to accommodate extended visitor stays, while being environmentally responsible through “high performance” building attributes, was met. Harmonious response to the site’s micro-climate, excellent Indoor Air Quality, enhanced natural ventilation strategies, and an elegant bug-free semi-outdoor “living room” that connects one to the outdoors are a few examples of the architect’s approach to Green by Design that results in a home that exceeds the expectations of its owners. One of the key attributes of Muskoka are the numerous boathouses nestled on the shorelines of all the major lakes. In addition to docking a boat, many of these boathouses feature beautiful sitting rooms, bathrooms, exercise rooms and grand bedrooms. Boathouses can be fixed to the shore, floating or on piles nestled in the Lake. They are very distinctive aspect of Ontario's cottage country and sometimes when you are boating past you can get a peak some of the prized Muskoka antique wood boat nestled inside.

Substantial renovations conducted by Alberghini Architect Inc. over the past 10 years have transformed this residence into a home that the owners’ call their own “private paradise.” The most recent project, a solarium on the second floor, has created a year-round garden. There is a natural flow, a continuum, between the indoors and nature. The owners say that the space has a serene relaxing beauty and has become an inspiring work space as well as a retreat from their busy schedules. Additionally, they are sleeping more soundly in the adjacent master suite. They attribute all of these benefits to the fact that the solarium was designed and built using BioGeometry®.

“Hygge”: the Danish esthetic characterized by cozy environments featuring natural materials, clean design, and light colors to fend off the doldrums of the long northern winters. Embodying these attributes is this welcoming space mixing colors and textures to spectacular effect. Pale wood-look porcelain tile flooring sets the tone. Traditional inset cabinetry with a delicate ogee inner profile is painted light blue on the perimeter and cream on the island. The ever-popular apron front sink adds charm. White oak floating shelves showcase decorative items and cookbooks. They sit adjacent to a bifold countertop wall cabinet that’s lined in more white oak; it conceals a freestanding microwave and abundant dishware storage. Appliances are paneled to match for a cohesive look. The crown jewel of the room, however, is the range and vent hood. For European flair, a CornuFe range in ivory with brass trim was chosen. A custom curved plaster hood is accented with white oak edging and sweeping corbels. Brass appears again in the faucet, the island pendants, and the eclectic mix of hardware: cupboard latches, bin pulls, and knobs. To complete the classic look, gray and honey-veined Danby marble countertops were selected, complemented by a handmade white subway backsplash tile.

Tucked away into the quiet of the Blue Ridge Mountains lies Haven Lookout. The success of this project can be attributed to collaboration in the design between VPC Builders and the homeowners. VPC’s craftsmanship combined with the creativity of the homeowner sparked a functional yet extraordinary mountain getaway. This 3,325 sq. ft, 3 bedrooms, and 3 bath home is ensconced with mountain-inspired elements, exquisite mountain views, and an inviting tenor of hearth and luxury. Upon arrival, captivation begins. Stunning features like the arch top door and timber framing welcome guests and residents at the front door. Each room was customized and designed to fit the needs and vision of the owners and we are delighted at the results of this new residence.

The bones of an unassuming, split-level ranch held untapped potential.Inspired by a trip to Modernism Week in Palm Springs, CA. we returned with a freshly-formed conviction that the building could become an East Coast version of the hip, glassy,highly-livable Mid-Century style normally associated with the West Coast. The core characteristic s-split-level, deep overhangs, low roof pitch-were currently unenhanced by confused fenestration and a drab olive board and batten siding. We reimagined the exterior cladding as a trio of materials to create dynamism and an interplay of texture and color. Stucco instantly sets the tone that this house is not entirely familiar. It's got roots from somewhere else. And yet it's somewhat calm and neutral. Scored-faced concrete block makes a more pronounced statement. And last, rich sapele mahogany not only pairs well but admits that after all this is New England let's have a little wood. The Jordan Cove House as it's known is so named because it shares an elevated perch beside a private, pristine inlet with bald eagles and other amazing wildlife. The project included several important additions, one being the extension of the main living space through a large bank of by-pass doors and onto a covered deck that surveys the cove and its inhabitants. So here's a question: Why bring Palm Springs to Connecticut? Well, for one, introducing design that is somewhat compatible with a yet not entirely sympathetic to its context can be exciting and expansive. It can even be enriching. Too, this particular design style has attributes that are highly applicable to today's trends: single-level living and accessibility, zero/low maintenance finishes, generous indoor-outdoor connections, open floor plans, to name a few. It actually makes a lot of sense.

These clients were looking for a designer/builder that would handle everything from concept to completion, providing peace of mind for themselves! “Working alongside Renovisions was a pleasant experience” said our clients as we cared to understand their vision, needs, wants and desires, enabling us to execute their projects successfully and professionally. During the design phase, our well-organized staff listened to the client’s requests and combined several design elements that produced a beautiful, calming and transitional feel to the new kitchen space. During the remodel phase, the clients had these top 5 items on the list of enhancements: * High- functioning ventilation to clear as much odors as possible (When we first met with the clients, they stated, “Something very fishy was going on in their outdated kitchen. Although they enjoyed cooking fish dinners, they fishy odors often annoyed them)! Renovisions designed and installed a wood hood in matching light gray painted finish with a hood liner that provided the maximum ventilation, while staying within the proper building code of a 350cfm air exchange, without having to add a make -up air system which would have added to the cost of the project. *Better functioning ‘Spinner Storage’ for interior storage. The clients loved them in their old kitchen; we furnished and installed new and better-quality spinners storage units. *A unique opening between the kitchen and family room that allowed homeowners to pass meals through as they enjoyed a movie from the family room. *A Smart-Divide porcelain enamel sink with stainless steel grids allow plenty of room for dirty dishes, pots and pans as well as separate areas to prep and wash dishes as needed. * Anti-glare finishes were a must have for these clients; kitchen cabinetry in a matte gray neutral finish, faucet and cabinet hardware in a matte black finish and stunning Cambria quartz countertops in a suede finish set the stage. At completion phase, homeowners were ensured that they were receiving high-quality products, style and craftmanship in the most efficient time frame and were thrilled with look of their new kitchen that also provided plenty of prep, entertaining and seating space. The clients attributes the success of the design to the emotions it inspired when the job was completed – they simply love everything about it!

Working on this modern kitchen design gave me great pleasure. Unique flat-panel door, integrated and paneled high-end appliances, quartz counters, lacquered and wood veneer finishes, are just a few attributes of this stunning kitchen. Many intricate details, handle-less design, ample modern storage, elevated this kitchen to be one of my favorites projects.
