We created a transitional design for their home that incorporates modern touches and classic lines to tie the spaces together. Our primary focus was to update the home and keep things feeling clean and fresh while making it comfortable for everyone in the family. We started by painting every room in their home, replacing all of their interior doors, and updating all of their light fixtures. One of the most transformative elements was the updated flooring throughout the home. We removed the oak floors and replaced them with a wide plank solid hickory which removed the yellow undertones and gave them a clean backdrop for the rest of the design. The clients really wanted to freshen up their kitchen and incorporate new appliances without starting from scratch, so we rearranged a few of their existing cabinets to make room for their new stove and range hood. We also lowered the original bar-height counter to make the kitchen feel more open to their family room. We then painted all of their cabinets a crisp white, replaced the crown molding, updated the hardware, replaced their counter top with a marble look quartz, and used a soft green mosaic tile on their backsplash. This home has a large family room, and the original fireplace was far too small and seemed to disappear under the 20 foot ceilings. So we removed the old square fireplace, replacing it with a linear gas fireplace and a floor-to-ceiling tiled surround with a custom wood mantle. This created a real focal point and helped to anchor the space. We then brought in a cozy blue sectional and a soft new rug to make this the perfect place for a family movie night. The clients have a real love of music, and wanted to create a space where they could lay back and enjoy their vinyls. So in their family room we created a custom stereo wall with floating cabinets and shelves to house all of their audio equipment and showcase a few of their favorites. We then furnished the room with clean and classically inspired pieces to tie in with the aesthetics in the rest of the home.

The Saint Albert The Great, Newman Center project is a multiple phased project that includes the development of a new church and teaching facility. The first phase of the project involved the demolition of housing adjacent to the existing facility. A new chuch is intended to be built on this site. The church design includes a large seating area for visitors with vaulted ceilings and diffused day-lighting. Additional spaces included within the church design are: an entrance lobby with a gift shop and coffee shop, an exterior yard/ colombarium, a marian, a sacrisity, a multi-purpose room, an audio room and a reconciliation room. The overall design intent of the project was to create a modern church facility with traditional aspects that relate to the established image of the Saint Albert the Great Church and the missionary architectural style of the region. The second phase of the project includes the construction of “Ministry” for the campus. This facility houses a mult-purpose teaching space as well as a recreational area for youth. Additionally, the new facility aims to distribute food to the needy through a bodega and a small kitchen. This phase of the project involves some demolition and renovations to the existing Newman Center facility. The final phase of the project includes the construction of the Education Building for the campus. This facility is equipped with multiple teaching and office spaces for the Church’s youth education programs. The design intent for this facility was to appeal to the youth through the use of modern and inviting design elements.

The full size swimming pool uses a salt water filtration system instead of chlorine, which is great for people with sensitive skin. The pool's mechanical elements are easily accessible but out of the way – tucked behind the trees and boulder wall. Night lighting adds to the ambience but also helps the family navigate their way around the backyard as day turns into night. Audio speakers dot the plant beds for a surround sound experience.

It’s warm in Southern California, and that’s exactly the feeling Andy and Liz sought to maintain inside their new Tuscan-style home as they embarked on a modern interior makeover. After all, the couple had two small children and a dog to consider. Empty and austere simply wasn’t a good fit for the young family whose interests include photography, art and lots of Lego’s. Andy, an engineer, became intrigued with Cantoni after driving past the Irvine location on his daily commute. It wasn’t long before he and Liz decided to venture into the Los Angeles showroom, and that’s where they met Bernadette. By all accounts, the trio made for great collaboration, and the project that began in February 2012 is still a work in progress today. “We were impressed by Bernadette,” says Andy. “We liked her and her work, and she won us over.” The project began with pictures sent and an in-home walk-through where measurements were taken. The couple knew they wanted furnishings for the living, dining and family rooms, as well as the media room and a study. They were open to art and accent pieces, and hoped to incorporate natural elements into the mix. Bernadette set to work. “It was fun touring our LA showroom and listening to Liz and Andy discuss their likes and dislikes. One thing was for sure,” she adds, “the Laguna Sectional was going in their theater room even if we needed to knock out a wall!” UpstairsPhase I of the job is complete (as you can see from the stunning images), but instead of parting ways, Andy and Liz decided to have Bernadette help re-imagine the master bedroom and kitchen, next. The decorative black metal mesh door panels to the left of the fireplace give a decorative element and provide appropriate ventilation for the enclosed equipment. The use of the beautiful window seat provides a cozy place to read or watch the world go by.
