A dining table in a kitchen that is short on space. Keeping colours neutral with black accents makes this small space feel modern and fresh! Custom made wood candle sticks and bee wax candles take centre-stage atop the dark solid wood dining table.

We started by levelling the top area into two terraced lawns of low water Kurapia and nearly doubling the space on the lower level with retaining walls. We built a striking new pergola with a graphic steel-patterned roof to make a covered seating area. Along with creating shade, the roof casts a movie reel of shade patterns throughout the day. Now there is ample space to kick back and relax, watching the sun spread its glow on the surrounding hillside as it makes its slow journey down the horizon towards sunset. An aerodynamic fan keeps the air pleasantly cool and refreshing. At night the backyard comes alive with an ethereal lighting scheme illuminating the space and making it a place you can enjoy well into the night. It’s the perfect place to end the day.

Killing all the insects in your yard is a little like using a sledgehammer to crack a walnut. You want to eliminate harmful or disease-carrying pests such as mosquitoes or cockroaches, but you don’t want to get rid of those insects that help, such as bees and dragonflies. This lizard needs a steady supply of insects to stay healthy. By eating those in your yard, he is keeping the population of all insects in balance. That is vital for the health of your yard and our planet.

Modern, simple and with an element of pizzazz. That was the motto behind this Travel Heights project. In this bathroom, our challenge was to extend the relatively small space while keeping the integrity of the existing floor tiles. Our expertise in color combinations and experience with patterns and textures helped us overcome the hurdle. The result was a clutter-free bathroom without being full-on minimalist, and yet another happy costumer. As a first step, large lenin tiles were installed on all the bathroom from floor to ceiling to create the continuity and to make the bathroom seem larger than it is. Large accent black and white 13x40 porcelain tiles were selected which a "wow" effect to the bathroom and maintain the color palette flow with the existing patterned floor tiles. Moreover, to create a modern, creative aesthetic, these were installed on the entire shower wall. A frame less shower affords the viewer the full visual draw of the stunning accent wall. The waterfall counter top on the side creatively frames the cabinets and provides protection to the beautiful mahogany wood from water spills. The cabinet details also included a small full-out rod from the left front side of the vanity for toilet paper, so no holes have to drilled on the beautiful counter-top side. The sink faucet was installed in the wall to create a clean, no-frills appearance. Additionally, we included upscale amenities like a stainless steel rain shower head with hand shower, an energy-efficient LED light fixture, floating drawer pulls and shower door with aluminum framing to give more strength. The result is an interesting mix of "something old" and "something new."

This is a landscape design client who lives in Nashville. We redesigned the front yard keeping some older shrubs while adding some grasses that change color as fall approaches, Green Mountain Boxwoods to frame the entryway and add an upscale nature to the environment, boulders for permanence and structure, Crimson Pigmy Barberry for a splash of red and purple, Coral Drift Roses for color from spring until summer, Stella De Orro Daylillies, Mexican Feather Grass, and Big Sky Harvest Moon Coneflower for butterflies and bees. Wonderful people to work with and now a much more modern and tidy space.

This home went from "blah" to beautiful with the addition of a deck and lush, California native plantings. All that boring, time-consuming lawn is gone, making room for bids, bees, and butterflies. Now this garden is a fit habitat for a much wider range of party animals!

Lavender, along with gravel, basalt and other native plantings add to the beautiful cool color palette, enhancing the architectural design while providing for a drought-tolerant and low-maintenance front yard.

The clients had a hillside backyard with very little flat area for entertaining and play. The site access was very difficult so we needed to keep all the soil on site. We pushed back into the hillside to create the seating area and then used the soil to create another higher level flat area for a children's play structure. We also incorporated a small waterfall for play and for the soothing sound of water. The upper level houses the bench swing with a view of the whole backyard.
