This Louisville, Kentucky, Residential Kitchen Remodel displays a mix of surfaces and textures. Custom glass countertop is paired with butcher block, warm-white painted cabinets, black appliances, under-mount sink and a stone- tile back splash for a transitional kitchen design that is both sophisticated and accessible. This galley kitchen is a more traditional, french country design, elevated by the clever surprise of the custom, blue green glass counter top. Inspiration for a contemporary l-shaped kitchen remodel in St Louis with flat-panel cabinets, dark wood cabinets, glass tile backsplash and stainless steel appliances

Constructed in two phases, this renovation, with a few small additions, touched nearly every room in this late ‘50’s ranch house. The owners raised their family within the original walls and love the house’s location, which is not far from town and also borders conservation land. But they didn’t love how chopped up the house was and the lack of exposure to natural daylight and views of the lush rear woods. Plus, they were ready to de-clutter for a more stream-lined look. As a result, KHS collaborated with them to create a quiet, clean design to support the lifestyle they aspire to in retirement. To transform the original ranch house, KHS proposed several significant changes that would make way for a number of related improvements. Proposed changes included the removal of the attached enclosed breezeway (which had included a stair to the basement living space) and the two-car garage it partially wrapped, which had blocked vital eastern daylight from accessing the interior. Together the breezeway and garage had also contributed to a long, flush front façade. In its stead, KHS proposed a new two-car carport, attached storage shed, and exterior basement stair in a new location. The carport is bumped closer to the street to relieve the flush front facade and to allow access behind it to eastern daylight in a relocated rear kitchen. KHS also proposed a new, single, more prominent front entry, closer to the driveway to replace the former secondary entrance into the dark breezeway and a more formal main entrance that had been located much farther down the facade and curiously bordered the bedroom wing. Inside, low ceilings and soffits in the primary family common areas were removed to create a cathedral ceiling (with rod ties) over a reconfigured semi-open living, dining, and kitchen space. A new gas fireplace serving the relocated dining area -- defined by a new built-in banquette in a new bay window -- was designed to back up on the existing wood-burning fireplace that continues to serve the living area. A shared full bath, serving two guest bedrooms on the main level, was reconfigured, and additional square footage was captured for a reconfigured master bathroom off the existing master bedroom. A new whole-house color palette, including new finishes and new cabinetry, complete the transformation. Today, the owners enjoy a fresh and airy re-imagining of their familiar ranch house. This eclectic space is infused with unique pieces and warm finishes combined to create a welcoming and comfortable space. We used Ikea kitchen cabinets and butcher block counter top for the bar area and built in media center. Custom wood floating shelves to match, maximize storage while maintaining clean lines and minimizing clutter. A custom bar table in the same wood tones is the perfect spot to hang out and play games. Splashes of brass and pewter in the hardware and antique accessories offset bright accents that pop against or white walls and ceiling. Grey floor tiles are an easy to clean solution warmed up by woven area rugs.

L+M's ADU is a basement converted to an accessory dwelling unit (ADU) with exterior & main level access, wet bar, living space with movie center & ethanol fireplace, office divided by custom steel & glass "window" grid, guest bathroom, & guest bedroom. In order to create a spa feel, a designer linear shower drain, and customized shower with beautiful surface materials such as glass tile, glass block and pebble floor tile were incorporated for a luxurious atmosphere. Three body sprays, fixed shower head, and separate hand-held shower head add to a pleasant shower experience. We installed 3 double combination shower niches to keep the shower products organized and easily accessible. In addition, four attractive robe hooks are mounted inside the shower for additional storage for loofa and body brushes. A digital shower interface system controls the water temperature and different shower components with just a touch of the fingertips. The LCD display can be programmed to the users’ liking. Affordable Hardscapes of Virginia - (Virginia Beach, VA) Our client had recently constructed a new custom waterfront home in Virginia Beach, VA. The homes main property is elevated almost 30' above the water, boat lift and dock. The natural hillside leading from backyard is steep, experiencing erosion, and difficult to trek up and down. To access the main property from the dock you would need to climb the steep embankment and to get to the dock below it was a definite test of will. After meeting the client to discuss options it was clear to us that a innovative blend of science and art would be needed to achieve their goals and expectations. Affordable Hardscapes of Virginia submitted an initial design utilizing Eagle Bay's Dublin wall stone as the primary material to construct the 18 individual steps necessary. At the clients request to utilize material left over from the homes construction (2" thick limestone) and incorporate wood to match homes elements the final design was approved. Planning for the project included submittals and approvals by way of a Joint Permit Application administered by the Virginia Marine Resources Commission (VMRC). Do to access limitations and the desire to have minimal environmental impact all excavation and installation was done using only hand tools. Each of the (18) steps was individually built in place on solid footings with subsurface drainage. The steps risers are built with 12" x 8" x 4" (tall) Eagle Bay Dublin Freestanding Wall block in Tan. The limestone step treads are from recycled material left over from the construction of the new home. The wood used to frame around the limestone treads is clear Spanish Cedar cut and planned to 2" x 6". Patrick McGrath

Built in 1909, this 3-story single-family home is in the heart of Noe Valley. An old addition in the back of the house, which had served as the laundry room and access to the back yard, was in need of repair. So the homeowners decided to open up this area and incorporate it in their kitchen remodel. Kat Tragos of Timeless Kitchens worked closely with the homeowners, Kim and Max, and their contractor to create a floor plan that would discreetly accommodate their washer/dryer as well as other kitchen appliances. With two young daughters eager to help in the kitchen, Max and Kim decided a prep sink and island would facilitate more cooks. They also liked the historic look of a farm sink, so this was a must-have on the list. Other wants were a cat feeding station, a butcher- block island-top, and open shelving for cookbooks. The white inset door style and decorative panels were chosen to mimic the home's original craftsman-style and beautiful wainscoting.
