Design Perspective Interior Design, LLCI designed this ADA bathroom and assisted the homeowner in making all of the fixture, material and finish choices while working at Corvallis Custom Kitchens and Baths.
Our client needed to update this bathroom for her husband who uses a walker and needs assistance with daily bathing and such.
We installed a frameless glass shower with a fixed panel and one slider section. In the fixed panel, we installed a small door so the controls for the shower can be accessed without having to enter the shower. A linear drain allows for a zero threshold entry into the shower allowing for the bather to enter without any barrier to step over.
We installed an American Standard Cadet Pro Right Height toilet and places blocking in the wall so drop down grab bars (one with a toilet paper holder) could be added if wanted at a later time.
We decided to install a narrower vanity than what was previously installed to allow more room in the toilet area. Maple flat panel cabinetry was installed with Silestone Phoenix quuartz countertops and backsplash with a Kohler Caxton undermount sink with a Moen single handle faucet.
Grab bars were installed in the shower stall and at the entry to the shower, along with a Speakman grab bar shower system with Hansgrohe shower controls. A combo niche for shampoo and such was installed close to the handheld showerhead for easy access.
LED lighting was added to the shower area on it's own dimmer switch. An additional LED fixture was installed over the vanity to provide excellent task lighting for anyone using the vanity.
The door to the bedroom was also changed to a pocket door and widened to allow easier access to the bathroom from the bedroom.

UCA - Urban & Contemporary ArchitectsTrapezoid shaped site, hill range towards the north and the access road are the elements that form the character that the building takes on. At ground level, two stand-alone blocks taper towards the narrow end of the site; but on the two subsequent floors, the blocks are connected by communal spaces to form a “U” shaped building and creating generous open courtyard between the blocks.
Residents are provided with spaces for formal and social activities. The second floor of the communal area features a gym, a small lounge and a plunge pool that overlooks the courtyard and the distant hills.
The development is designed to read as a composition of simple lines, framing full height glass and textured finished elements that quietly animate the elevations. The building’s facades appear homogeneous with terraces and planes used to highlight each apartment. Zigzagging terraces and stone cladded screen walls are dominant features used in the scheme to echo the ridges and texture of the hills beyond.

Alloy Architecture & ConstructionThe conception of the Montrose Garage project, driven by the site and the client’s program,
became a lynchpin on the site by reorganizing movement around it. The building, echoing the
contemporary materials and aesthetic of the primary residence, is the northern boundary of a
courtyard creating the built edge of this urban lot.
The garage structure could be characterized as an “Eroded Shed”. With a simple sloped roof,
site influences and program requirements strategically carve away at the basic rectangular
volume, creating dynamic architecture.
The project is located on a tight site on a residential block with an alley at the northern edge of
the property. To maximize access and convenience for the client, the project created vehicular
access at two points on the site, through the main driveway at the south side and through the
alleyway. The “Truck Port” allows vehicular access from both sides of the site. Sliding barn doors
open up to the deck/courtyard during parties and social gatherings, and a sitting porch at the
exercise studio opens to a beautiful view of the surrounding mountain landscape.

Paradise Found ConstructionKaren and Jeff wanted to convert their original 1980’s bathroom into a modern looking fully wheelchair accessible bathroom with a barrier-free entry into the shower and separate water closet. They liked the design technique of combining a shower and tub into one “wet area” while keeping the accessibility features.
We got to work designing a bathroom layout that would work with the existing main drain system in the home. We wanted to bring in as much daylight into the bathroom without compromising daylight in the shower and tub area.
Our solution was to incorporate interior acrylic “glass block” awning windows in the design of the shower and tub area to bring in daylight without compromising privacy. The modern stand alone tub with floor mounted tub filler, shower head/sprayer on a slide bar, shower caddy for soap and shampoo, and bench seat combined to create a wonderfully accessible and functional bathing area.

Reico Kitchen & BathDesigned by Sheryl Manning of Reico Kitchen & Bath in Charlotte, NC in collaboration with Home Care & Remodeling, this multi-room design includes a kitchen, pantry and laundry room. The kitchen and pantry feature the Merillat Masterpiece Turner door style in the finishes Onyx and Barley. The laundry room features Merillat Basics Collins in a Cotton finish with Bally Butcher Block maple tops. Reico provided the design, cabinets and butcher block for this project.
“This remodel of a 1979 home was challenging but fun! The homeowner had a very clear idea of what they wanted, and chose a modern transitional look with a Parisian influence, utilizing the Onyx finish with Brushed Gold hardware, and natural wood floating shelves, finished in a light brown Barley stain,” said Sheryl.
“We utilized every space, opening up a large closet for the oven and pantry cabinet and a small closet to form an art/display niche. The laundry room was not functional, with just a small wall for the washer-dryer. We placed wall cabinets above, pulling them forward 6" for ease of access. We added a working pantry and counter space for small appliances with butcher-block tops.”
