Dr. Lauren Nichols wanted to treat herself to a luxurious closet. She was tired of being so cramped. So, we took her guest bedroom and transformed it into a massive master closet! She wasn’t sure how to re-configure her space, so Design Actually did a scan of her current space and then drew her dream Master Suite! The color palette is white with hints of color in artwork and accessories. We used marble throughout with a floral marble insert in the shower. The gold finished plumbing and lighting fixtures bounce off the white tile and paint.

Hammer & Hand built this custom listening room for a Portland audiophile. To isolate the room from the rest of the home and improve the listening experience the space includes a self-contained minisplit heat pump and a dedicated cryogenically-treated electricity system. Tibetan bowls allow the client to tune the room. Noted acoustic engineer Art Noxon positioned gray bass traps along the walls of the room so bass frequencies penetrate the walls instead of bouncing around the room. The team removed a bathroom to increase the size of the space to 11 x 17. Double sound attenuating doors lock sound into the room and keep the rest of the home quiet. This Master Bathroom design includes a recessed shelf built into the shower space to be covered by tile, as well as a mirrored medicine cabinet adding cosmetic storage space in addition to the vanity. The new exhaust fan will help keep the room properly ventilated for maximum enjoyment of long hot showers with no worry of steam. The marble tile selections chosen features various marbles and pearl options. In addition to the beautiful texture of the marbling, the tile designs chosen add interest and texture with the filigree and scalloped patterns. The combinations of crystal and metals in the chandeliers along with the mirrors are not only beautiful pieces to add to the space, but bounce light bringing a sparkle and brightness into this updated design.

Cork flooring is a natural insulator, so it keeps your home warm and cozy, moisture resistance, keeping pests, mould and mildew at bay and lowers acoustical vibrations. Cork flooring is much more comfortable because of its ‘bounce back’ property. This produces nice ‘cushion’ underfoot when compressed so your feet and joints will find relief. As cork is a natural thermal resistant material it also provides proper insulation so that rooms with cork flooring remain naturally warm and pleasant.

A light infused closet allows colors and patterns to be seen in all their glory. Lighted garment rods, a chandelier and mirrored doors each play a role in the illumination of this master walk-in closet. Lighted garment rods brighten hanging apparel making colors more vibrant and true while the chandelier beautifully adds sparkle and glamour.
