A black lacquer console table flanks the entry way by way of this great room. A swag artisan purple star lamp dangles above, shedding soft purple light. The clean and bright arrangement is a refresh of solid colored silk flowers (Magnolia) and Pussy willow branches. It rests by a vintage ebony sculpture, a Black woman. Her neck is adorned with sentimental statement jewelry that boasts the word “majesty”. Next to her is a white lacquer rectangular mirror repurposed as a tray that holds a host of white candles. At the forefront, a metal trapezoid shaped cigar ashtray holds a bundle of white sage and a Palo Santo stick etched with “Love”. It is almost a shrine of sorts. What a gorgeous presentation. Who wouldn’t want their space to be blessed with such a lovely welcoming committee?

Mexican Palm Thatch also known as rain capes are fabricated from sustainable palm trees native to a specific geographical region in Mexico. This commercial quality thatch can are used for a variety of shade structures, Palapa umbrellas, in tropical themed environments, resorts, and for Tiki hut and Tiki bar designs. This eco friendly material is processed and then woven into a variety of shapes, heights, and diameters. The Mexican runner roll is generally the most popular, comprised of long strips 30” in height and 60’ long. They are also available in square and rectangular panels, and as rain capes which are round weaves to fit radius or octagonal designed roofs. Mexican thatch is known for its versatility in both residential and commercial applications and as the most economical material on the market today.

This garden was designed and staged as the home was for sale. The clients request was to create a space that was inviting and would be well used while sticking to a low budget. I created a master plan and a mock up of that plan allowing potential buyers to see how the backyard could be used.

One might say this table resembles a bundle of gathered exotic timber. We say its a little and eco-chic masterpiece! Crafted from sorted teak branches that would have gone unused in the past, this makes a dynamite accent stool as well!
