Our Bellevue studio created a calm, peaceful sanctuary in this beautiful Sammamish home for our busy clients and their young children. We chose a neutral palette with pops of blues, greens, and wood tones to create a warm coastal appeal. In the living room, elegant furniture and comfortable fabrics create a charming, welcoming vibe. The primary bedroom is designed as a sanctuary for relaxation with cozy furnishings, soft colors, and a hint of greenery. Meanwhile, in the kids' bedrooms, we chose playful colors and cute decor that create a cheerful ambiance. The open-concept kitchen and family living room have a bright, airy feel, making it a great place for warm get-togethers. We also added a fun and functional office space with plenty of storage space for files and documents.

A gorgeously detailed and endlessly elegantly workspace that drips with gilded finishes while silky soft colors rise up in art and accents like a summer sunrise. A shagreen embossed desk sits top a scalloped cowhide rug looking out over the pool in the outdoor space. Built in shelves and cabinets provide storage space and display art, plants and treasures. A settee in the corner is the first focal point as you enter the room, an inviting spot to take a call, enjoy a break with a book or curl up with a pet.

When Joe Germann founded Motorhead Extraordinaire in 2005, his shop was your typical motorhead shop – lots of hand-me-downs, "way too many" piles of junk, and always too much work going on. Joe used the shop for full frame-up restorations that involved engine work, body work, painting, etc. – your typical hard-core home based restoration shop. The shop was a 24' x 32' building with a cathedral ceiling and was carved up into two car bays (one with a lift), and a bay for the workshop area. The office was located in a spare room in the house, only big enough for one person to work in at a time. Typical of 15 year old shops, it had a collection of everything in every corner – "your basic junk shop." Joe knew he needed a shop and home office to better meet his needs and to be a reflection of his business philosophies. His goals were simple: 1. Upgrade the workshop to the 21st century and make it more efficient for the space he had and the type of work he likes to do in there 2. Add a new office to run the business out of 3. Make it an enjoyable place to hang out to swill a few beers and smoke a few good cigars! Mission accomplished. Joe added a 12' x 22' office addition and remodeled the existing garage/workshop area. (Trying to simultaneously work on restorations – a '71 Corvette and a Raven – as well as doing engine work on his Wild Child drag car was a challenge, to say the least.) Both the new shop and office are fully furnished with a host of Lista storage and workspace products. “ The Lista workspaces are simply awesome and work out so well for us. ” Joe raves, "The Lista workspaces are simply awesome and work out so well for us. This busy family, with a house full of kids, dogs, and cats, needed a landing place for everyone as they arrived home, and the cramped entry hall was no longer working. A mudroom was designed with custom cabinets, including lockers and an island, to create a storage system for the family, and as importantly a place to hang out, do homework, and art projects. A desk area was built for Mom to be able to work from home, with a tower that houses the printer, router and other computer items behind closed doors, and filing cabinets below to keep everything close at hand. This space also accommodates a washer and dryer with drying rack above tucked neatly out of site.

This office space is a temporary solution as the Mohrmans are planning an addition onto the back of the house. Accessed through the downstairs bedroom, the new studio will house everything needed for Chelsea's small business (blogging and home decor consultation). Until the project is finished, however, this bookcase and desk combination provide extra space for project planning and research. Gym locker bins are used to house various objects, and along with labelled magazine files help to maintain a streamlined appearance. Every home requires an organizing space for the "business" of the home, and a farmhouse often more so. Books, mail, cell phones, file drawers, etc, are provided for. Designed to compliment the kitchen, yet vary minutely in style, the farmhouse office designed by Abbot & Skinner Architects presents a space mindful of the whole of the home as well the particular task. Note how the architects, aware of the small space, maintained a material for the desk and bookcase tops identical to the heart pine flooring to widen the perceived space.
