There were folks in the department who had clearly been there for hours trying to order. All we had to do was walk up with our pre-printed IKD list, have the sales associate type in each item number, and we were good to go.” Kate adds: “I also suggest to inventory your boxes/goods after IKEA delivers. I used the list from IKD and between inventorying, labeling, and checking each box it took me a good four and a half hours. It was well worth it to have the boxes organized and labelled, and we did not have a single item missing (including miscellaneous items).” She concludes: “IKD is the real deal and I was so pleased with the experience with our designer. She was so responsive and the process was quick. I am constantly telling people it was the best value for our money that we spent in the entire remodel process.”

Last Christmas, the Wostbrock Design team completed one of the trickiest projects we have done together...Heidi’s house! Heidi Wostbrock (the owner of Wostbrock Home) is the sweetest, happiest, and most caring person you will ever meet. However, she was the most indecisive client in the world! Her love for design completely overwhelmed her. She envisioned so many different styles of design that she became completely stuck in a design-headlock! Working in this industry, you are constantly being exposed to the latest colors, patterns, fabrics, textiles, and furniture pieces everyday that bringing a design and color (if any) into your own home is close to impossible and a painful process. With a little extra push and persuasion from the Wostbrock team, we were able to bring Heidi’s home to life!

Stylish brewery owners with airline miles that match George Clooney’s decided to hire Regan Baker Design to transform their beloved Duboce Park second home into an organic modern oasis reflecting their modern aesthetic and sustainable, green conscience lifestyle. From hops to floors, we worked extensively with our design savvy clients to provide a new footprint for their kitchen, dining and living room area, redesigned three bathrooms, reconfigured and designed the master suite, and replaced an existing spiral staircase with a new modern, steel staircase. We collaborated with an architect to expedite the permit process, as well as hired a structural engineer to help with the new loads from removing the stairs and load bearing walls in the kitchen and Master bedroom. We also used LED light fixtures, FSC certified cabinetry and low VOC paint finishes. Regan Baker Design was responsible for the overall schematics, design development, construction documentation, construction administration, as well as the selection and procurement of all fixtures, cabinets, equipment, furniture,and accessories. But that doesn’t always mean starting from scratch – because when something works, it works. At TKS Design Group, we believe in intentional design, not change for the sake of change. Especially when it comes to quality kitchen cabinets. Lead designer, Jennifer, was able to make the most of what worked in this space, while elevating the aesthetic to make the kitchen feel brand new. This kitchen is an example of just that. When the homeowners purchased the home in 2016, they made some initial updates. From painting to refinishing the floors, they began the process of making this house their own. When the time came to update the kitchen, they wanted to work with what they had to elevate the space, while also adding in the design details that were missing for them. Not every space or kitchen requires starting from scratch to make new. Sometimes the layout is just right, and the cabinets are in great shape. Instead, you can prioritize the aesthetic you seek within the scope of what you already have. That is exactly what this kitchen called for. The new statement island in slate was added to make space for the microwave drawer which wasn’t a part of the original layout. The bold tone of the island adds contrast against light perimeter cabinetry painted in Benjamin Moore White Dove. A custom hood accommodates a new blower for an upgraded cooking experience. Quartz countertops paired with a marble backsplash pull everything together. Elevated plumbing fixtures in a polished nickel finish add a subtle sheen and loads of elegance. This client cared a lot about the details of the design, but especially the light fixtures. When we understand what matters to our client, we can prioritize it as a part of our design and process.

Charles is from San Francisco and currently lives in Oakland, California. He has been an artist since he was a young child and loves the process of creating art. Charles studied at Sacramento City College, where he learned from inspiring teachers and became very interested in conceptual art and film. As a young man, he was involved in an accident that caused him to lose the majority of his eyesight, keeping only some peripheral vision. Charles continues to be a believer in the phrase, “take your challenges and make them an asset,” as he finds that the loss of his vision has opened him up to an entirely new style, freedom, and way of working as an artist that he may never have known without this experience. He has won numerous service awards for his volunteer work and advocacy for the arts and is the author of three books: Redemption Beyond Blindness; Fiery Responses to Love’s Calling; and Is, the Color of Mississippi Mud. It is his hope to be able to increase his income through the sale of his artwork, obtain stable housing, and continue to inspire as many people as he can by sharing his art. We learned and explored on our own, and bit by bit, we finished decorating our home. We’ve accumulated so much experience in this process, and now we want to share it, hoping it can be of a little help to all of you who are doing your own home decoration. Preparations in Advance 1、Clarify your own ideas: Whether you are looking online, talking to designers, or copying ideas from friends' homes, you should have a clear vision of what your home should look like before designing—such as the style, color scheme, and elements to be used... It is crucial to avoid wanting to install everything that looks good in others' homes in your own. This way, you can clearly put forward your requirements during the design and decoration process, and also avoid frequent revisions to the plan, which may lead to unnecessary rework. 2、Understand your own needs: You need to first figure out the needs of your family, such as how many people live in the house permanently, how many rooms are needed, everyone's living habits, and daily preferences... A home is always for living in, so functionality is always the most important. It is best to list these needs and give priority to meeting them during the design and decoration. This way, you won't find out after decoration that many necessary things are missing, while a bunch of installed things are useless. 3、Determine your budget: There are ways to decorate with more money, and also ways to do it with less. No matter how much money you have, the decorated house can be both beautiful and practical. Therefore, it is essential to decide exactly how much you want to spend on decoration. In every link, such as designing the plan, making a budget table, selecting materials, and construction, you should act in accordance with your own budget. 4、Understand the advantages and disadvantages of your house: There is no perfect house in the world, and every house has its pros and cons. Your design plan should avoid its shortcomings and amplify its advantages. I once wrote an article about the drawbacks of my house ("My house is not perfect, but I still want to find ways to save it"), so we figured out solutions to these problems during the decoration. 5、Learn as much decoration knowledge as possible in advance: Although you can pick up this knowledge in the subsequent decoration process, it is better to learn more beforehand. This will make you much more calm when facing problems. 6、Know your strengths: Before decoration, you must be clear about what you are good at and what you are not.
