M-S Pro Architects announce the completion of an indoor swimming pool in a state-of-the-art, single storey family home set in a picturesque location on the outskirts of Bratislava - one of Europe’s youngest capital cities. Kebony, a beautiful wood recommended by leading architects, was chosen to craft the ceiling of the swimming pool, which is designed to emulate rippling waves as well as for the terrace deck and structural beams. Sustainability and a desire to recreate the close proximity often seen between wood and water in the natural environment were primary focuses in the design of this project. This led a requirement for a low maintenance wood, compatible humidity and with advanced durability, for the swimming pool ceiling. In addition, a high level of precision when cutting the wood was required in order to achieve the desired appearance of waves. Supplied by Leading Market, Kebony was carefully selected for the pool ceiling, which consists of 490 lamellae of timber, due to its versatility, durability and environmental credentials. Kebony was also installed throughout the exterior of this property, both for the spacious outdoor terrace and the exterior and interior beams. One of the reasons to choose Kebony was the unified look of wood in all these different applications. Developed in Norway, the patented Kebony technology uses an environmentally friendly process, which permanently enhances the properties of sustainable softwood with a bio-based liquid derived from agricultural crop waste. By polymerising the wood’s cell wall with furfuryl alcohol, the wood gains greatly improved durability and dimensional stability, giving it characteristics similar to those of tropical hardwood. In creating a wood with comparable properties to tropical hardwood that can be grown in a FSC certified, sustainably managed forest, the demand for tropical woods is reduced, allowing timber to once again be an important part of sustainable construction. Tomáš Hubinský, Lead Architect at M-S Pro, commented: “From conception through to completion, the creation of this ceiling has been a real feat. Despite the challenges faced by such an intricate design, Kebony was the perfect material to convey our desired effect of waves rippling along the ceiling. The bathroom's central core was fittingly suited for the shower location. A cylindrical volume became the obvious form capable of facilitating fluid circulation between the bedroom, bathroom, closet, and hallway. Our clients defined themselves as "Eclectic Mediumalists," which opened up the stylistic range we could work with and the palette we could use, one generated by the veining of exotic marble slabs used throughout the floor.

One of two homes of a bicoastal television producer, this penthouse showpiece occupies the top story of a building nestled at the base of the Hollywood Hills. It offers panoramic views of Sunset Strip and mixes one-of-a-kind custom pieces with more casual retail pieces, to create a comfortable, contemporary home. The 2-bed, 2-bath nods to California coastal vibe, while also reflecting its West Hollywood locale. It juxtaposes organic materials—such as a stunning sunburst wood wall covering and a jute living room rug, handwoven in India—with more industrial pieces, like the hand-cut antique mirror tiles in the dining space. The dining table, chairs and leather banquette are all custom, as are the living room easy chairs and the raffia-covered beds. This eclectic space reads as both cozy and capable.

We recently completed cabinetry for this contemporary kitchen and bathroom in Sturgeon Bay. For this project we were commissioned to produce and install Black Walnut Cabinetry. The doors and drawers are horizontal grain black walnut veneer slab doors. The cabinetry exhibits our capability to produce cabinetry using European Frameless design. The cabinet construction and door selection mate well with the beautiful granite countertops, polished concrete floor, stainless steel appliances, and minimalist design to create a modern sleek kitchen. We also created a floating double vanity for the owner's master bath which was capped with a beautiful soapstone countertop. Wall mount faucets, and a lovely pair of teak mirrors provide the finishing touches. This was a fun project from beginning to end!

Inspiration for a timeless living room remodel

Retractable Screens, also known as Roll-up Screens and Vertical Rolling Screens are completely customized to meet the needs of the space. Easy to see through and completely retractable, exterior Retractable Screens create a cool, comfortable, insect-free environment without sacrificing your view. Designed to provide superior solar protection, they mitigate UV damage, optimize comfort and provide daytime privacy even in windy settings. Essentials within a home office often include a desk, chair, computer or laptop, internet capability, and adequate software like Zoom to connect with co-workers who are also working remotely.

This kitchen facelift was inspired by a family of 7 who needed a fresh feel and better organization in the most popular room in the house. We were invited to select the finishes, plumbing fixtures, decorative hood and design a new bank of cabinets with rollout shelves to compliment the existing kitchen cabinets. The existing stained cabinets were painted white in contrast to the beautiful new natural stone counters. The result was bright and fresh. A marble tile backsplash added classic sophistication and the hood added a more capable ventilation system and a beautiful decorative element. Little details such as the touchless faucet and single basin sink which is large enough to wash platters and baking dishes increased the overall kitchen efficiency. THE SETUP When we first encountered this basement for a family with three boys, we saw a space with untapped potential. Though previously remodeled, it lacked a cohesive design strategy. The expansive area housed various entertainment pieces (a shuffleboard table, air hockey, foosball, etc.) scattered haphazardly throughout the space. While the basement included a workout room and a rudimentary kitchen area, it lacked a dedicated game room or proper bar. Excessive storage closets along the back wall consumed valuable real estate that could be repurposed for more engaging uses. In essence, the basement was spacious but disjointed—functional for family use but falling short as an entertainment hub. It didn’t align with the sophistication of the rest of the home. Our clients envisioned a transformation: a fresh, organized space that would not only serve their family’s needs but also shine as an inviting arena for entertaining friends and hosting gatherings – especially sports-focused gatherings! Design Objectives: Reimagine the basement layout, creating distinct zones for varied activities. Expand the workout area to accommodate new equipment, including a Smith machine. Implement a multi-screen setup inspired by high-end sports bars, allowing guests to follow multiple games while socializing. Enhance existing features while developing new areas: Optimize a workout space for all equipment needs Establish a dedicated children’s space with guest room capabilities Create an integrated bar and entertainment area Retain and incorporate the existing projector setup Design Challenges: Navigate layout constraints in the new workout room due to fixed utility areas. Carve out a distinct space for kids within the open plan. Revitalize an underutilized section of the basement. Elevate the existing big screen area with purposeful design elements. Develop a full-fledged bar area while maintaining kitchen functions applicable for hangout snacking. Work around immovable structural elements (soffits, load-bearing support columns) THE RENEWED SPACE Design Solutions: Install a stylish barn door for the utility area of the new workout space, improving aesthetics and accessibility. Repurpose the former workout room into a dedicated game room for kids, utilizing couches with pull-out beds so the area can double as overflow guest accommodations. Transform the unused area into a vibrant pub-style area for card and table games. Enhance the big screen area with elegant wainscoting and ambient theatre-style lighting. Design a multi-functional wet bar area featuring varied seating, prep areas, and a microwave. Base the bar sink area width off the soffit above it. In the big screen area, use the soffit to inform the width of a wainscoting section. For the immovable support columns, dress one up to match the wainscoting of the nearby big screen wall. Hide the other one in a new wall. Final Thoughts: The reimagined basement has exceeded our clients’ expectations, evolving into the ultimate entertainment hub. With seven strategically placed screens, it’s perfect for gatherings focused on major sporting events and casual gatherings, as well. The space strikes a balance between adult sophistication and family-friendly functionality, featuring distinct zones for various activities. The new design not only maximizes functionality for modern, multi-screen entertainment but also elevates the aesthetic appeal. It integrates flawlessly with the rest of the home’s transitional style while allowing each basement section to maintain its unique character. The result is a versatile space that caters to both intimate family time and large-scale entertaining.

LE PIRATE RESTAURANT located in Dubai Marina, United Arab Emirates This place is about seafood and pirates, two things Emirates are passionate about. They promise and experience to remember starting with the minute their customers step inside. To live up-to that promise, they required furniture that was custom built to their theme and of the highest craftsmanship. After visiting many woodworking factories who didn’t have the capacity/capability to produce the furniture, the owner found us and we gave it a shot.
