We do many kitchen renovations in Toronto with this same layout, and are called in to open things up and improve the back addition. Our challenge on this project was to stay on budget and make the ceiling in the back room higher, as well as add much needed insulation to make the room warmer and comfortable, while renovating the kitchen. As you can see from the photos, this house is old and we made a number of structural improvements including fixing a old water leak that caused damage above the room. This kitchen really stands out with the Cafe Appliances from GE. The white with copper is really cool! We also like the combination of the flat gloss uppers and the grey lowers. This is now very popular. And of course the wallpaper, we think it gives some much needed personality and colour to the space.

The awesome, colorful garden in the only sunny area on this several acre site is planted on a high mound that diverts all water either to the huge french drains that run along the house or the driveway that drains into the rain garden. The drainage problems are solved and the owner has the style of garden she desired: a very full, colorful, drought tolerant, easy maintenance cottage garden that attracts birds and butterflies. This home started out as a remodel of a family’s beloved summer cottage. A fire started on the work site which caused irreparable damage. Needless to say, a remodel turned into a brand-new home. We were brought on board to help our clients re-imagine their summer haven. Windows were important to maximize the gorgeous lake view. Access to the lake was also very important, so an outdoor shower off the mudroom/laundry area with its own side entrance provided a nice beach entry for the kids. A large kitchen island open to dining and living was imperative for the family and the time they like to spend together. The master suite is on the main floor and three bedrooms upstairs, one of which has built-in bunks allows the kids to have their own area.
