Looking for revitalized perspective in their own backyard, our clients chose to stay in their neighborhood and renovate bottom to top, enlisting Moore Design Group to reimagine and transform their average home into an inspiring and restorative sanctuary. Stairs and unwanted soffits were removed, walls reconfigured, fireplaces and their surrounds re-invented, and architectural elements redefined. Beautiful hardwoods were featured in custom designed cabinetry and niches. Wide plank European oak replaced carpet, newly fabricated porcelain countertops were installed throughout, and sculptural light fixtures were hung in cavernous spaces, highlighting new outlooks. Our client’s preference for simple yet sophisticated style enabled us to set the tone by creating an elegant backdrop for a new collection of fine art and sculpture, which quietly takes center stage. More than just a surface renovation, our scope ensured that our clients’ environmental sensitivities were the driving force behind all decisions to reduce and eliminate known allergens and protect indoor air quality. Zero-VOC paints were used, a nontoxic, water-based finish was applied to natural wood cabinetry and floors, and custom upholstery was made from fire-retardant-free foams and FSC-certified woods, eliminating harmful chemicals from the home without sacrificing a trace of design.

Sharing the primary entertaining space of this centrally located Minneapolis townhouse, this kitchen completed during a remodel in 2022, was designed to integrate and harmonize with a distinctive yet quiet presence. Liberated from its former enclosure, this stunning kitchen takes center stage at the heart of this contemporary town home. Anchored by dual walnut islands, the new layout is conducive to entertaining and provides both cook and guest with excellent views of the Minneapolis skyline. Minimizing traditionally identifiable elements of a kitchen, the space, in concert with the surrounding rooms, feels more like an upscale lounge and less like a residential kitchen. Natural granite is abundant, the waterfalled surfaces adding dramatic effect at the island and behind the induction range where an underlit shelf is integrated into the stone assembly. At the sink, the carefully detailed backsplash is recessed into the surrounding casework which provides additional storage facing the living area. Streamlined appliances are unobtrusive, either fully-integrated or tucked out of the way. The rear wall is composed almost entirely of white, flat paneled cabinetry, tucked under the soffit and merging into the textured fireplace mass. Heavily distressed beams help mitigate the cavernous volume and add layers visual texture and warmth. Double openings divide the space from a more intimately scaled dining area (the former home of the kitchen). The interstitial space provides room for a butler’s pantry and wet bar with hanging glass storage. A backlit etched glass panel provides ambient illumination and conceals an awkwardly located existing window.

The existing home was deconstructed and salvageable material was reclaimed and donated for reuse. In its place, a custom 4-bedroom, 4.5-bath home was built. The new home incorporates many unique features including the “drive through” two-car garage that allows the homeowners access to the converging streets. The massive first-floor master bedroom suite encompasses a marble surround fireplace, 2 sizeable walk-in-closets as well as his and her luxurious master bathrooms. Two home offices provide the homeowners with ample room to take care of business. An elevator was installed to enable the homeowners and elderly guests to easily and safely access the second floor. Abundant storage areas throughout the home, including the cavernous full basement, offer plenty of space to stow extra belongings.

Here's a finished look at the River Pools T40 we installed in August with all the concrete work and fencing completed. This pool was a beast to install at 40 feet long and Unlike many other pools we've installed; this pool required a large retaining wall and it's got a black gel coating which really adds to the visual effect of its already cavernous interior.

The client envisioned rough sawn cedar cladding with a stone wall and low ceilings to give it an underground cellar vibe. The cellar door will be 10mm glass on a self-close pivot hinge. We added a ductless heat pump to the interior wall for temperature and humidity control and we built a custom cedar shroud to conceal it. Just a few more final touches then all it needs is wine

•the windows were enlarged to capture the nearly 360º views of the gardens and water feature, just beyond Interior features: • the kitchen/sunroom dining area were reconfigured. A wall was removed between the sunroom and kitchen to create a more open floor plan. The space now consists of a living room/kitchen/dining/sitting area. The dining table was custom designed to fit the space. A custom made light was designed into the large island to avoid overhead lighting and to add a convenient electrical outlet • a new wall was designed into the kitchen cabinetry to accommodate a second sink, open shelves to display barware and to create a divide between the kitchen and the terrace entry • the kitchen was cavernous. Adding the new wall and a fabric paneled drop ceiling created a more comfortable, welcoming space with much better acoustics

The original Master bath suffered a tiny shower and a tub that was never used. It was very dark and cavernous and needed some softness to oppose angled walls. The tub was removed to make a larger, more accessible shower. The desired style was modern but not severe. We installed Cambria Britannica quartz slab with large veining and soft flowing movement on all the shower walls. A dark floor grounds the space. A combination of light walls, and sleek floating cabinets, creates an overall softness in this Modern Masterpiece.

It is a great opportunity to create a home in Saint Louis, using design criteria, sensitivities and materials associated with the Northwest. Our clients, a world traveled couple whose second home is in Montana, commissioned us to do just that. Over six tons of stone were brought in from Montana to complement the hand built wooden trusses and rough-hewn lumber sourced locally. Having lived in Europe for many years, the couple is sophisticated with specific objectives. The beautiful millwork in the interior and exterior spaces reflects their taste. The gathering room has a vaulted ceiling but is not cavernous due to the dark elements created by the lumber and color selections. The wagon wheel light fixture is a focal point in the room, along with the Montanan stone floor to ceiling fireplace which mirrors the one outdoors. The millwork frames the room and provides the home with its lovely natural, rustic ambiance which plays well with lighting and outdoor living spaces. The front façade is closed to the street, but the back explodes, with a wall of doors that open to the outdoor living and landscaping. Outdoor living space includes fabulous millwork, a beautiful stone fireplace which complements the interior fireplace, seating areas, a dining table and a full kitchen. The outdoor kitchen includes a grill, oven, storage, an icemaker and a refrigerator. The lower level is inviting with its millwork, it’s full bar and a home theatre. Again the timber frames the bar area and the rustic feel is defined by the millwork and the Montana stone. The ceiling is tongue in groove with decorative trusses that include peg details and corbels. Decorative outdoor lanterns add to the ambiance. Log storage integrated into the main feature, the fireplace. Attention to detail include unusual millwork and lanterns.

Spectrum Construction & Development, based out of Roxbury Twp., New Jersey is the recipient of the 2016 Awards of Excellence presented by the Metropolitan Builders & Contractors Association of New Jersey in the Custom Single-Family Home Category ($1,000,000 - $2,000,000) The homeowners moved to Morris County, New Jersey to be closer to their grown children and their families. They found a mid-century style home on a beautiful tree-lined street less than a mile away from their children's homes. Although the location was ideal and the corner lot perfectly situated for the homeowners, it was in disrepair and did not offer them the space, design features and finishes they wanted. Spectrum Construction arranged for the original home to be deconstructed with any salvageable material sold to the public for reuse or re-purposing. The custom 4-bedroom, 4.5-bath home that Spectrum Construction designed and built in its place combines country charm with modern elegance. This new home incorporates many unique features including the “drive through” two-car garage that allows the homeowners access to the converging streets. The massive first-floor master bedroom suite consists of a marble surround fireplace, 2 sizeable walk-in-closets as well as his and her luxurious master bathrooms.
