The design of this bathroom job truly reflects the highest quality standards. We successfully revitalized an outdated primary bathroom into a space that perfectly suits a forever home. The major transformation involved the removal of the built-in tub, which significantly opened up the space. The result is a generously sized, meticulously detailed shower featuring a centralized niche and window, complemented by thoughtfully laid-out tiles to accommodate the shower door. Moreover, the entire primary bath now features heated floors including the shower floor. The creation of the niche was carefully planned, allowing for full tiling up to the bottom and a one-tile-high niche. The framing of the angled wall was skillfully executed, ensuring precise alignment of the tiles and bullnose.

The Alley Lofts provide a model for living large within a small footprint – spatially, economically, and ecologically. These small but well-appointed lofts provide a minimalist, modern, and sustainable rental option at home amongst their gritty backstreet context. Located on a former backyard infill lot in central Missoula, this new duplex is surrounded by a dense mix of bulky apartment buildings, mother-in-law units, and single-family residences. The lofts’ simple two and a half story gabled form ties in visually with its neighbors, while the minimal detailing, dark stained fir siding, and custom steel elements give hints of the richness within. Plenty of storage is crucial for livability, thus two oversized garages and a bonus room occupy the first floor. Upstairs, the efficient +/- 600 square foot studio apartments feel much larger than they are. Lofted, open floor plans with vaulted ceilings allow for a sharing of light, views, and air between spaces. Oversized juliet balconies open the interiors to the mountain views, while the second floor living configuration maintains privacy from the busy alley. A mix of natural woods, warm white walls, and matte black accents create a balanced, calming interior palette. Clean energy from the 6kW rooftop solar array powers a highly-efficient, all-electric heating and cooling system. Preliminary energy modeling projects the lofts will approach net zero.

This custom home in Brown's Canyon features active solar panels, which fire a boiler for warm radiant heat beneath the unique stained concrete floors. Bridle Path Residence — Luxury Wellness Bathroom & Hydrotherapy Suite This Bridle Path Residence bathroom is conceived as a private hydrotherapy retreat, bringing a resort-like wellness experience into the home while maintaining the architectural detailing and craftsmanship of the residence. The design is less about creating a conventional bathroom and more about establishing a dedicated space for relaxation, recovery, and ritual. The hydrotherapy tub becomes the central sculptural element of the room. Its generous curved profile creates a soft, organic focal point against the highly detailed wall treatment, while the integrated jets and ergonomic form emphasize the room's wellness-driven purpose. Positioning the tub within the main architectural composition gives it the presence of a luxury amenity rather than treating it as a standard fixture. The walls are enveloped in a small-format decorative mosaic with an intricate, almost textile-like pattern. This repeated surface creates remarkable visual depth and gives the room a distinctly crafted quality. The subtle variation within the mosaic prevents the predominantly light palette from feeling flat, while its fine geometry provides a counterpoint to the smooth, sculptural tub. A particularly thoughtful feature is the integrated sauna viewing window, which creates a visual relationship between the hydrotherapy area and the warm timber sauna beyond. The opening turns the sauna into part of the overall composition and establishes a clear sequence of wellness experiences—hydrotherapy, heat, and showering—within one cohesive suite. The adjacent shower introduces a contrasting material language. Large-format marble-look surfaces create a cleaner, more serene backdrop, while the vertical patterned accent strip adds a strong decorative moment. This controlled use of pattern prevents the space from becoming visually overwhelming and gives the shower its own identity. The sauna itself introduces warmth through natural timber, creating an immediate sensory contrast with the cool, pale surfaces surrounding it. The wood adds depth and reinforces the feeling of a private spa retreat, while the glass enclosure maintains openness and allows the different wellness zones to remain visually connected. The flooring continues the decorative approach with a carefully patterned layout that complements the wall mosaic without simply repeating it. This creates a layered surface treatment in which scale, geometry, and texture work together to give the room a highly customized character. Even the circulation area is treated as part of the design experience. The glass door and open stair connection allow light to move through the space, while the traditional architectural detailing visible beyond the bathroom establishes continuity with the broader residence. The overall concept is residential wellness with an emphasis on craftsmanship and sensory experience. Decorative mosaic, natural timber, glass, stone-inspired surfaces, sculptural plumbing, and carefully integrated wellness features create a room that feels more like a private boutique spa than a conventional home bathroom.

Custom home design inspired by Dwell featured homes commonly seen in Arizona, adapted for energy efficiency in Saskatchewan climate. The exterior design mirrors certain elements of the interior, like the custom wood siding and wood slat overhangs. Balanced simplicity and stunning materials, while still complimenting the surrounding homes in the City Park neighbourhood. The interior is modern with a mid-century twist featuring wood accents including custom vertical wood slat partition walls and a central, steel-base, open-tread wood staircase. When this private client, a married couple, first approached Álvarez-Díaz & Villalón to build ‘the house of their dreams’ on the grounds of their sprawling family estate, the first challenge was to identify the exact location that would maximize the positive aspects of the topography while affording the most gracious views. Propped up on scaffolding, juggling digital cameras and folding ladders, the design team photographed the property from hundreds of angles before the ideal site was selected. Once the site was selected, construction could begin. The building’s foundation was raised slightly off the ground to disperse geothermal heat. In addition, the designers studied daily sunlight patterns and positioned the structure accordingly in order to warm the swimming pool during the cooler morning hours and illuminate the principal living quarters during the late afternoon. Finally, the main house was designed with functional balconies on all sides: each balcony meticulously planned ~ and precisely positioned ~ to both optimize wind flow and frame the property’s most breath-taking views. Stylistically, the goal was to create an authentic Spanish hacienda. Following Old World tradition, the house was anchored around a centralized interior patio in the Moorish style: enclosed on three sides ~ yet open on the fourth (similar to the Alcázar of Seville) ~ to reveal a reflecting pool ~ and mirror the water motif of the home’s magnificent marble fountain. A bell tower, horseshoe arches, a colonnaded,vineyard-style patio, and ornamental Moorish mosaic tilework (“azulejos”) completed this picturesque portrait of a faraway fantasy world of castles, chivalry, and swordsplay, reminiscent of Medieval Spain. Shortly after completion, this showcase home was showcased on the TVE Spanish television series Spaniards Around The World (Españoles Alrededor Del Mundo) as a prime example of authentic Spanish architecture designed outside the peninsula. Not surprising. After all, the story of a fairy-tale retreat as magical as this one deserves a happy ending.

This organic modern master bathroom is truly a sanctuary. Heated clay tile floors feel luxurious underfoot and the large soaking tub is an oasis for busy parents. The unique vanity is a custom piece sourced by the interior designer. The continuation of the large format porcelain tile from the kitchen and the use of walnut on the linen cabinets from Grabill Cabinets, bring in the natural textures central to organic modern interior design. Mercer Island Full-Scale Remodel — Case Study This full-home transformation on Mercer Island, WA, was completed for a tech couple from California who envisioned turning an outdated property into a functional, high-value residence — and later sold it as a successful investment.

The project «Romantic Classics» (classic interior design of S-Studio, Kyiv) apartments in the heart of Kiev. Apartments were designed as a harmonious whole space in the classical style, decorated with qualitative materials and fitted out with modern equipment: system of «Smart Light», home cinema, house appliances, central air conditioning, heated floor, etc. Replanning of the apartment was done in accordance with the wishes of customers: combined kitchen and living room have been turned into studio, and a dressing room and a niche have been created for a spacious hallway closet. The style of design project is a romantic classic. The interior was made in soft pastel colors with elegant decorative ornaments and floral patterns. The traditional stucco elements were applied in the decoration of the classical apartments: cornices, moldings, ceiling rosettes, caissons and a dome decorative motives of which are repeated in the elements of furniture, which are very popular in the classical interior design. Natural walling materials of Lincrusta were used in decorative panels of the bedroom and hall, a wood-panels office were used in the individual design of the study, textile wallpaper of trendy European manufacturers were selected, matching the overall design of the apartment were chosen for the living room and other rooms. Besides, there were elaborated massive parquet floor design and the floor in the living room was decorated with a panno- vignette which was specially created for the classical interior. The dressing table seperates the bedroom area, which creates a cozy place for a mistress. Daughter’s room was decorated in the style of glamor, selected by her request. Repair work was supervised by Nadiya Samokhina.
