Among the best in art ethanol fireplace design, the AF66 Remote Controlled Electronic Bio Ethanol Fireplace Insert is favored by architects, contractors and high-end designers and offers the discerning client unprecedented quality and safety. In addition to the same vent-free and clean burning flames as manual ethanol fireplace inserts, this art-Fire bio ethanol burner offers much more for both residential and commercial applications:
Remote Control Capability. Due to its electronic operation, powered by a twelve-volt power source, this ethanol fireplace insert may be ignited and extinguished through an on/off switch located on the burner itself, a one-button remote control or through your smart phone by integrating with your Smart Home System.
On-Board Safety Monitoring. The motherboard of this fireplace insert is safety-central. Constantly self-evaluating its operation, this intelligent burner reacts to any condition that appears atypical. Should it sense an excess amount of carbon dioxide emission or heat output, it will automatically cease operation, extinguish the flame and maintain the lock mechanism of the fuel chamber. Additionally, it will self-extinguish should it sense seismic motion or level of tilt making it a shock-proof device. Fuel and battery levels are also constantly evaluated for optimal performance and will give notification through the burner’s LED display, which will indicate operation times and alert you by sound and error message should an event occur.
Sturdy Construction. Constructed of Grade 304 stainless steel, the ethanol burner is corrosion resistant and exhibits excellent resistance to atmospheric, chemical and other exposures. Its top plate measures three millimeters in thickness (3/32 inches). This allows sturdiness, yet promotes a low profile. For added safety, the bioethanol fireplace AF66 offers insulated double hearth construction.
Separate Fuel Reservoir and Burner Tray. Continuing with the unprecedented safety features of this ethanol burner, excess fuel is housed in a sealed reservoir. This not only prevents fuel evaporation and the aromatic release of the raw ethanol, but lessens the amount of “exposed” fuel at any given time. Through a medical grade fuel pump, the ethanol is delivered into the burner tray. Only allowing the burner tray to manage a few centiliters of ethanol fuel at a given time promotes additional safety and minimizes the risk of fire-related dangers.

Bridle Path Residence — Luxury Wellness Bathroom & Hydrotherapy Suite
This Bridle Path Residence bathroom is conceived as a private hydrotherapy retreat, bringing a resort-like wellness experience into the home while maintaining the architectural detailing and craftsmanship of the residence. The design is less about creating a conventional bathroom and more about establishing a dedicated space for relaxation, recovery, and ritual.
The hydrotherapy tub becomes the central sculptural element of the room. Its generous curved profile creates a soft, organic focal point against the highly detailed wall treatment, while the integrated jets and ergonomic form emphasize the room's wellness-driven purpose. Positioning the tub within the main architectural composition gives it the presence of a luxury amenity rather than treating it as a standard fixture.
The walls are enveloped in a small-format decorative mosaic with an intricate, almost textile-like pattern. This repeated surface creates remarkable visual depth and gives the room a distinctly crafted quality. The subtle variation within the mosaic prevents the predominantly light palette from feeling flat, while its fine geometry provides a counterpoint to the smooth, sculptural tub.
A particularly thoughtful feature is the integrated sauna viewing window, which creates a visual relationship between the hydrotherapy area and the warm timber sauna beyond. The opening turns the sauna into part of the overall composition and establishes a clear sequence of wellness experiences—hydrotherapy, heat, and showering—within one cohesive suite.
The adjacent shower introduces a contrasting material language. Large-format marble-look surfaces create a cleaner, more serene backdrop, while the vertical patterned accent strip adds a strong decorative moment. This controlled use of pattern prevents the space from becoming visually overwhelming and gives the shower its own identity.
The sauna itself introduces warmth through natural timber, creating an immediate sensory contrast with the cool, pale surfaces surrounding it. The wood adds depth and reinforces the feeling of a private spa retreat, while the glass enclosure maintains openness and allows the different wellness zones to remain visually connected.
The flooring continues the decorative approach with a carefully patterned layout that complements the wall mosaic without simply repeating it. This creates a layered surface treatment in which scale, geometry, and texture work together to give the room a highly customized character.
Even the circulation area is treated as part of the design experience. The glass door and open stair connection allow light to move through the space, while the traditional architectural detailing visible beyond the bathroom establishes continuity with the broader residence.
The overall concept is residential wellness with an emphasis on craftsmanship and sensory experience. Decorative mosaic, natural timber, glass, stone-inspired surfaces, sculptural plumbing, and carefully integrated wellness features create a room that feels more like a private boutique spa than a conventional home bathroom.

Located at the top of Flagstaff Rd., this new 4,700sf. mountain modern home embodies all there is to enjoy about Colorado. The owners love animals – and their bustling foothills ranch includes horses, dogs, cats and a couple of two footed little ones. Staying connected to nature was paramount to the owners. The home sits on a magnificent, private 35 acre property adjacent to Open Space, and covered in Doug Fir, beautiful rock outcroppings and open pastures. The house gracefully steps down the challenging terrain, stitching it into the hillside. This passive solar home is oriented to the epic views to the south. The soaring Great room, dining room and kitchen open out onto a giant covered porch for the ultimate in indoor/outdoor living. The open floor plan allows sunlight and views from every direction. The gourmet kitchen can accommodate the whole family and is filled with custom details.
Making life a little easier and more organized for the owners, they enter from the garage through a hard-working mud room/laundry with dog wash. The family dogs are a central part of their lives and the owner asked that we design bespoke kennels built-into the live-edge, Doug Fir slab casework in the dining room, so that the dogs could be with the family during meals, without giant plastic crates dominating the room.
The home is filled with custom details like built-in art niches in the Great Room, a unique front entry porch, and cozy window seats in the kid’s bedrooms.
Below a unique Aspen leaf chandelier, follow the stone walled stairwell down to the walk-out basement. The lower level includes a guest room, exercise room, a rec room/media room with wet-bar, and opens to a hot tub and a mountain lion-safe outdoor dog run.
The house is divided into three parts: the detached garage, the main social spaces + guest & kids bedrooms, and the Primary bedroom suite.
From the Great Room, the owners cross a dramatic glass bridge to reach the primary suite, giving a sense of privacy to this special retreat. The primary bedroom has a window seat, magical views, vaulted ceilings, its own private covered patio, and a barn door to the bathroom. The primary bathroom has a striking slot window between the floating vanities, again connecting the owners to nature at every turn. The sculptural soaking tub sits on an elevated plinth in a recessed nook – ideal for watching the deer, elk, moose, coyotes, raptors, turkeys, foxes, bears and mountain lions walk by.
The property also boasts a detached horse barn and hay barn, and an outdoor riding ring.
The near-Net-Zero (HERS 10) home’s green features include a ground source heat pump, 10KwH of solar photovoltaics, an ERV, foam insulation, and Energy Star windows. The native landscaping conserves water and minimized disruption to the idyllic site.

The design of this bathroom job truly reflects the highest quality standards. We successfully revitalized an outdated primary bathroom into a space that perfectly suits a forever home. The major transformation involved the removal of the built-in tub, which significantly opened up the space. The result is a generously sized, meticulously detailed shower featuring a centralized niche and window, complemented by thoughtfully laid-out tiles to accommodate the shower door. Moreover, the entire primary bath now features heated floors including the shower floor. The creation of the niche was carefully planned, allowing for full tiling up to the bottom and a one-tile-high niche. The framing of the angled wall was skillfully executed, ensuring precise alignment of the tiles and bullnose.

The Alley Lofts provide a model for living large within a small footprint – spatially, economically, and ecologically. These small but well-appointed lofts provide a minimalist, modern, and sustainable rental option at home amongst their gritty backstreet context.
Located on a former backyard infill lot in central Missoula, this new duplex is surrounded by a dense mix of bulky apartment buildings, mother-in-law units, and single-family residences. The lofts’ simple two and a half story gabled form ties in visually with its neighbors, while the minimal detailing, dark stained fir siding, and custom steel elements give hints of the richness within.
Plenty of storage is crucial for livability, thus two oversized garages and a bonus room occupy the first floor. Upstairs, the efficient +/- 600 square foot studio apartments feel much larger than they are. Lofted, open floor plans with vaulted ceilings allow for a sharing of light, views, and air between spaces. Oversized juliet balconies open the interiors to the mountain views, while the second floor living configuration maintains privacy from the busy alley. A mix of natural woods, warm white walls, and matte black accents create a balanced, calming interior palette. Clean energy from the 6kW rooftop solar array powers a highly-efficient, all-electric heating and cooling system. Preliminary energy modeling projects the lofts will approach net zero.

This custom home in Brown's Canyon features active solar panels, which fire a boiler for warm radiant heat beneath the unique stained concrete floors. Located just east of Park City, this home has incredible views of the ski resorts and central Wasatch range. Blackdog Builders had the pleasure of building this contemporary home from the ground up.
