This San Francisco pied-a-tier was a complete redesign and remodel in a prestigious Nob Hill hi-rise overlooking Huntington Park. With stunning views of the bay and a more impressive art collection taking center stage, the architecture takes a minimalist approach, with gallery-white walls receding to the background. The mix of custom-designed built-in furniture and furnishings selected by Hulburd Design read themselves as pieces of art against parquet wood flooring.

This remodeled Fallbrook bathroom was transformed to open up the space and bring in natural light. Light pental quartz counter tops and gray Arizona Tile's Metalwood series Argento tile contrast a dark shower and Java stained Lyptus Starmark Cabinetry. The large walk-in shower features a Hansgrohe Samset rain shower head with additional hand shower as well as a shower bench and Moen grab bar. It is accented with an Arozona Tile Alabastro Iron Pencil strip. The water closet features more natural light and additional storage space. All photography by Scott Basile.

Upon moving to a new home, this couple chose to convert two small guest baths into one large luxurious space including a Japanese soaking tub and custom glass shower with rainfall spout. Two floating vanities in a walnut finish topped with composite countertops and integrated sinks flank each wall. Due to the pitched walls, Barbara worked with both an industrial designer and mirror manufacturer to design special clips to mount the vanity mirrors, creating a unique and modern solution in a challenging space. The mix of travertine floor tiles with glossy cream wainscotting tiles creates a warm and inviting feel in this bathroom. Glass fronted shelving built into the eaves offers extra storage for towels and accessories. A oil-rubbed bronze finish lantern hangs from the dramatic ceiling while matching finish sconces add task lighting to the vanity areas. Dark gray flat panel cabinets and peninsula. Silestone countertop and (fireclay) tile backsplash in a herringbone pattern create an open contemporary kitchen with a view of the mountains beyond. Don't forget the solid white oak shelving!

We chose cabinetry made from reclaimed barnwood from Country Roads Associates (in Holmes, NY) as well as a copper farmhouse sink to get the farmhouse feel. Adding the brick wall and reclaimed 2" thick barnwood beam shelving further enhanced the rustic nature of the design. The Caspian blue glass tile by Akdo Tile, stainless steel appliances (Viking, Bosch, Liebherrr, Thermador) and thin Dekton (by Cosentino) counter tops lend the contemporary touch.
