This 3,700 SF high performance, net-zero home built by Dwell Development achieved 5-Star Built Green certification. The home includes solar panels and an electric vehicle charging station. It also includes efficient heating and cooling through use of a Heat Recovery Ventilation System, which also provides the highest level of indoor air quality. The exterior walls of the house have a total thickness of 12”, which is then packed with blown-in cellulose insulation for a very efficient envelope, making it consistent and comfortable no matter the season. The floors are solid hardwood and polished concrete, while the tile and countertops throughout the house are made of recycled contents. The paint and grout were specifically chosen for the house to have no VOC’s.

The Stern Residence ‘Nautilus House’ is Michigan’s second USGBC LEED for Homes Platinum level certified whole house remodel.
This ambitious project took a modest, unas-
suming Cape Cod and completely transformed
the home adding a new second floor and a
dramatic curved roof above. The arced roof,
besides being sculpturally striking, was intentionally designed to use the largest dimension of SIP panels manufactured, eliminating waste and maximizing utility, and provided an armature for mounting solar panels in the optimal location on the heavily wooded site.

Winter Park’s first Net Zero Energy home is 4,565 square feet under air, but offers a staggering 8,000 square feet of overall living space. It is designed to fit in beautifully to the Winter Park neighborhood, but also to offer its owner a customized living space, all while drawing zero net energy from the City’s grid. Not only has the house been certified as Leed Platinum, but it also achieved several other certifications and has recently been qualified as the first department of Energy Challenge Home in the country as well. Rob Smith, of e2 Homes, an expert at Custom Home Building and Green Building practices, is proud to have been the builder chosen by the Wilson family to make their dreams of building a green home a reality. Rob understood their vision, and his nearly ten years of experience in Custom Home building gave them the confidence that he would deliver the construction excellence they were seeking.

This stately office space merges traditional style with a curated personality. The dark green walls create a rich, focused atmosphere, complemented by polished wood flooring and a deep-toned executive desk that commands the room. Sunlight streams through dual glass doors with plantation shutters, offering privacy without sacrificing natural light. Framed memorabilia and certificates add a personal touch, celebrating achievement and character in equal measure. A patterned rug underfoot softens the space, while a sculptural table lamp lends warm illumination to the workspace. Tailored for productivity and taste, this office balances professional ambiance with comfort-driven design.
