This apartment was completely remodeled and there are no typical drywall walls inside. All partitions are 1/2" tempered glass. From the bedroom to the living areas, and the bathroom shower to the living area, all is pure glass. The den/guest room is also enclosed with a stackable glass system providing full access to the room, making the unit much more spacious. This is clean modern living as it's best.

With a panoramic view of the bathroom, the perspective from the copper tub is a dynamic and intimate one. With the bathrooms unique layout, it allows for the bathroom to remain open, while still keeping an appropriate amount of privacy. By using elements such as the frosted glass partition wall, it allows for the bathroom to remain open and friendly, while simultaneously providing protection and privacy.

The homeowners desired an outdoor space that felt more rustic than their refined interior spaces, but still related architecturally to their house. Cement plaster support arbor columns provide enough of visual tie to the existing house exterior. Oversized wood beams and rafter members provide a unique outdoor atmosphere. Our clients on this project were inspired by their travels to Asia and wanted to mimic this aesthetic at their DC property. We designed a water feature that effectively masks adjacent traffic noise and maintains a small footprint.

The cabinets were custom designed by Tom, with straight, simple lines, and custom built by Draper DBS of walnut, with a deep, rich brown finish. The richness of the dark cabinetry juxtaposed with the elegance of the white carrara marble on the countertop, wall and floors contributes to the room's sophistication. Ample storage is found in the large vanity and an armoire style cabinet, designed to mimic a free-standing furniture piece, that is positioned behind the door. Architectural beams placed across the vaulted ceiling bring a sense of scale to the room and invite natural light in through the skylight.
