Bright and sunny all white kitchen with contrasting dark wood floors,
this chef’s kitchen has plenty of solid surface counter tops for food prep and
service. Glass front cabinets and a counter underneath are ample storage for the
kitchen table.
The space is easy to clean and work in with the kitchen triangle of prep sink, stove and
Refrigerator next to each other. We also love that the clean-up sink is on the other side
The kitchen, out of the way of food prep.

Dramatic and moody never looked so good, or so inviting. Beautiful shiplap detailing on the wood hood and the kitchen island create a sleek modern farmhouse vibe in the decidedly modern kitchen. An entire wall of tall cabinets conceals a large refrigerator in plain sight and a walk-in pantry for amazing storage.
Two beautiful counter-sitting larder cabinets flank each side of the cooking area creating an abundant amount of specialized storage. An extra sink and open shelving in the beverage area makes for easy clean-ups after cocktails for two or an entire dinner party.
The warm contrast of paint and stain finishes makes this cozy kitchen a space that will be the focal point of many happy gatherings. The two-tone cabinets feature Dura Supreme Cabinetry’s Carson Panel door style is a dark green “Rock Bottom” paint contrasted with the “Hazelnut” stained finish on Cherry.

Sunset Construction and Design specializes in creating residential patio retreats, outdoor kitchens with fireplaces and luxurious outdoor living rooms. Our design-build service can turn an ordinary back yard into a natural extension of your home giving you a whole new dimension for entertaining or simply unwinding at the end of the day.
Today, almost any activity you enjoy inside your home you can bring to the outside. Depending on your budget, your outdoor room can be simple, with a stamped concrete patio, a grill and a table for dining, or more elaborate with a fully functional outdoor kitchen complete with concrete countertops for preparing and serving food, a sink and a refrigerator. You can take the concept even further by adding such amenities as a concrete pizza oven, a fireplace or fire-pit, a concrete bar-top for serving cocktails, an architectural concrete fountain, landscape lighting and concrete statuary.
Cooking
Something to cook with, such as a barbecue grill or wood-fired pizza oven, and countertops for food preparation and serving are key elements in a well-designed outdoor kitchen. Concrete countertops offer the advantages of weather resistance and versatility, since they can be formed into any shape you desire to suit the space. A coat of sealer will simplify cleanup by protecting your countertop from stains. Other amenities, such as concrete bar-tops and outdoor sinks with plumbing, can expand your entertainment options.
Hearth
Wood-burning or gas fireplaces, fire pits, chimineas and portable patio heaters extend the enjoyment of outdoor living well into the evening while creating a cozy conversation area for people to gather around.
If you’re interested in converting a boring back yard or starting from scratch in a new home, look us up! A great patio and outdoor living area can easily be yours. Greg, Sunset Construction & Design in Fresno, CA.

This project in Northeast Columbia brought together three different stones across the house, and that's not something we get to do every day. Marble in one space, quartzite in another, dolomite doing its own quiet work somewhere else. It's the kind of job that makes you slow down and think about where each material actually belongs instead of just picking one slab and running it everywhere.
The kitchen called for something that could handle the daily grind while still looking like a piece of natural stone should look, full of movement and depth. Quartzite earns its keep here. It reads like marble with all that soft veining and cool background color, but it's far harder and more resistant to etching from citrus, wine, or vinegar splashing around a busy counter. We templated it carefully to keep the veining moving in a way that feels natural across the runs, not chopped up or mismatched at the seams. That takes patience on the slab yard picking the right book match before it ever hits a saw.
The bathroom vanity is where the marble gets to shine. Marble on a vanity top makes sense in a way it doesn't always in a kitchen. Less traffic, less acid exposure, and it gets to just look good day after day with the veining catching the light over the sink. We kept the edge eased throughout the project, a simple softened line that doesn't compete with the stone itself. An eased edge is subtle, it just takes the sharp corner off the top so it feels comfortable under your hand and doesn't chip as easy as a square edge would over the years.
Dolomite showed up in the other space, and it's one of our favorite stones to work with because it splits the difference. It looks a lot like marble, softer tones, that same classic veining, but it's a good bit tougher and more stain resistant, which makes it a smart call anywhere you want that marble look without babying it constantly. Sealing still matters with all three of these stones. A good penetrating sealer keeps them looking right for years and makes cleanup simple, no special stuff needed, just soap and water day to day.
Jobs like this are why we like working across the Midlands. Northeast Columbia homes run the gamut from new builds to older houses getting a real refresh, and getting to move between marble, quartzite, and dolomite in one project keeps the work honest. Every stone got fabricated and set the way it should be, tight seams, clean eased edges, and a finish that'll hold up to real life in that kitchen and that bath for a long time to come.

These clients are empty nesters with grown children and several grandchildren living nearby. They love hosting family gatherings for special occasions and wanted a large space with durable materials and neutral, yet interesting finishes. The large island and perimeter countertop allow space for buffet-style get-togethers, while also feeling perfectly scaled to have breakfast for two from the counter stools. They wanted everything to be of lasting quality, but not feel too precious, so their grandchildren can still have fun running on the porcelain floors and baking on the quartz counters.
The clients desired a cohesive space with the best materials, exhibiting a streamlined appeal that still felt welcoming and catered to all their storage needs. The surfaces are low maintenance for easy clean-up and sanitation. The clients wanted custom, solid-wood cabinetry with natural finishes, for an organic element and visual warmth.
The design intent for this space was to create an open, serene Kitchen utilizing a functional layout, quality materials, and organic elements. The area is grounded by dark terrazzo-looking porcelain and uplifted by contrasting light fixtures. We wanted this room to be inviting through a variety of textures and layered lighting, as it is situated at the heart of the home. With custom cabinetry, the highest caliber appliances and thoughtful hardware, this Kitchen is sure to stand the test of time.
Additionally, clients wanted to hide certain items in the kitchen, such as electronics, appliances, cookbooks, trash, and recycling. Storage for sheet trays, knifes, spices, cutlery and cooking utensils were required. Open display shelves for collectables from travels and an area for a coffee & smoothie bar were also desired.
The island incorporates a hidden charging station for electronics, open shelving for cookbooks, while housing an instant hot and chilled water dispenser at the sink. The cabinetry also has a hidden trash and recycling center, specialty spice and cooking utensil pull-outs, drawers with custom inserts for knifes, cutting boards, cutlery, and tableware. An appliance garage allows room for the stand mixer and toaster to be out of sight, but within reach. A lighted coffee and smoothie bar were planned for the clients’ love of coffee and healthy nutrition. The island and floating shelves are made of oak panels with inlaid brass, adding a subtle touch of sparkle and warmth that highlights gold flecks in the island countertop.

This client requested that we design her new kitchen space to look and function with her and her family’s usage in mind. She was not happy with her existing kitchen due to builder-grade ceramic flooring, lack of countertop space, poor lighting, inadequate and unorganized storage and the closed off feel of the area. Renovisions resolved all of these issues by designing and building an impressive, transitional styled kitchen; delivering a beautifully well thought-out space that provides a multi-functional approach and meets the needs of this busy and dynamic household.
Typically, we encounter challenges in every project, and this was no different. The upstairs bathroom plumbing ran across the entire length of the kitchen sink wall and it was necessary to work with it by moving the plumbing as far up as possible and then building a soffit to hide it.
Creating a space that has a more open feel was top of mind for our client. Installing a new wood floor that matched the existing dining room floor helped with this and in addition, warmed up the room. By relocating the refrigerator to the opposite wall and adding a bar area at the end toward the family room, the flow of traffic for family members and guests became more managed.
The open floor plan allowed for additional island cabinets to accommodate smart storage and better functionality when prepping meals, sitting to eat or gathering with friends and family. We believe having ample countertop surface space is a critical improvement in any renovation and this particular project now boasts a large countertop area with a stunning wide vein pattern that accentuates the design instead of overpowering it. The soft look of the Blanco Arabescato quartz enhances the space and looks lovely with the white inset styled cabinetry.
Beauty and function go hand-in-hand in this kitchen with several exceptional elements such as under-cabinet lighting with dimmers to control the mood light. Glass doors were added to the wall cabinets which flank the wine rack for displaying their decorative glassware and a beverage cooler below provided added convenience and access to cold beverages. The GE Café line of appliances in ‘Slate’ and ‘Stainless Steel’ finishes are a stunning contrast here.
The sensational looking decorative marble 6”x6” backsplash tile over the gas range and in the bar area creates nice focal points by creating a unique look for her that family and guests love.
Convenient and functional elements were added such as a blind corner pull-out for easier pot/pan storage, a sweep-o-vac under cabinet vacuum system for those constant quick clean-ups, a pull-out caddy under the sink base for storage of cleaning products and a protective mat to collect potential spills.
Our client let us know it was time for a change and we listened. She shared a few pictures she loved from a home magazine, we shared our insight and then designed/built the kitchen of her dreams! … A fabulous and functional space.
