This custom charging station and communication desk was Knick-named, Grand Central Station. The cork back allows for notes to family members, lists and also charging, the cords are run into the space below through ‘mouse holes’. The desk is stand-up height and has a couple drawers for pens, paper, etc. the floor was left open for dog food bowls, tucked safely out of traffic. We also waterfalled the countertop down the side to reflect the same on the island, and provide cover for the dog bowls.
The top shelf was ideal for housing children’s art work and a portion of her collected and favorite finds.

The goal for this light filled finished attic was to create a play space where two young boys could nurture and develop their creative and imaginative selves. A neutral tone was selected for the walls as a foundation for the bright pops of color added in furnishings, area rug and accessories throughout the room. We took advantage of the room’s interesting angles and created a custom chalk board that followed the lines of the ceiling. Magnetic circles from Land of Nod add a playful pop of color and perfect spot for magnetic wall play. A ‘Space Room’ behind the bike print fabric curtain is a favorite hideaway with a glow in the dark star filled ceiling and a custom litebrite wall. Custom Lego baseplate removable wall boards were designed and built to create a Flexible Lego Wall. The family was interested in the concept of a Lego wall but wanted to keep the space flexible for the future. The boards (designed by Jennifer Gardner Design) can be moved to the floor for Lego play and then easily hung back on the wall with a cleat system to display their 3-dimensional Lego creations! This room was great fun to design and we hope it will provide creative and imaginative play inspiration in the years to come!

Imagine a barn that's also a home, overlooking Boulder's iconic Flatirons. The Boulder Barndominium mixes farm practicality with modern coziness, designed for efficiency and those stunning views that make every day feel special.
Client and Brief
The owners sought a simple, smart building that saves materials and energy. They wanted light-filled spaces, a west-facing unit for mountain sights, and a patio to relax outside.
Problems Solved
Energy costs and weather can add up, but solar roofs and clever orientation make it net-zero – using the sun for power and keeping things comfortable without extra bills.
Design Concept and Form
The concept is straightforward – a long rectangle with sloping roofs for panels, and high windows to bring in daylight. It feels balanced and connected to the land.
Construction and Materials
Wood framing provides strength and tradition, built to endure while staying budget-friendly.
Energy Efficiency
Solar arrays power everything, with radiant heating and east/west setup for natural warmth and light – sustainable living that's easy and effective.
Interior Design
Barn space for work and storage, dwelling with bedroom, bath, and open areas leading to the patio for seamless inside-out flow.
Outcome
Since 2020, this barndominium has been a functional, green haven. It blends utility with beauty, offering savings, views, and a sense of peace in Boulder's landscape.

An under used whirlpool tub and inefficient layout were rectified by removing the tub and outdated glass block shower to create a generous walk-in shower area and dual vanity with built ins for storage. Woods and textured materials add warmth and sophistication to the space.

This basement remodel was a true blank canvas. Working closely with our designer Margaret, the homeowners envisioned a timeless space they could grow into—one that felt modern, moody, and inviting while still being functional for everyday life. From the sleek, black wet bar with matte finishes and gold hardware to the built-in Murphy bed, each feature blends style and durability. Every detail was designed with intention. Structural support beams became a standout design feature, cleverly integrated into the wet bar island. The result? A polished, purposeful space perfect for hosting or unwinding.
