The client, a sculpture artist, and his wife came to J.P.A. only wanting a studio next to their home. During the design process it grew to having a living space above the studio, which grew to having a small house attached to the studio forming a compound. At this point it became clear to the client; the project was outgrowing the neighborhood. After re-evaluating the project, the live / work compound is currently sited in a natural protected nest with post card views of Mount Sopris & the Roaring Fork Valley. The courtyard compound consist of the central south facing piece being the studio flanked by a simple 2500 sq ft 2 bedroom, 2 story house one the west side, and a multi purpose guest wing /studio on the east side. The evolution of this compound came to include the desire to have the building blend into the surrounding landscape, and at the same time become the backdrop to create and display his sculpture.

Project Description: Warm Modern Kitchen + Bath Refresh
This kitchen remodel blends warm, rich materials with durable, modern functionality. We elevated the space with custom cherry wood cabinetry, bringing timeless elegance and a sense of craftsmanship to the heart of the home. The countertops and full-height backsplash feature Mystere Gold Quartz from ARC Surfaces—a creamy, ivory-toned quartz with subtle gold veining. This material is not only visually striking but also non-porous, stain-resistant, and low maintenance—ideal for everyday use.
Fixtures include a Kohler Vibrant Stainless kitchen faucet, Kohler undermount single-bowl sink, and flat black cabinet hardware, all sourced through Solutions Bath & Flooring in collaboration with KellyJo. The hardwood flooring throughout was carefully sanded, refinished, and stained using a custom mix from DuraSeal, adding depth and warmth to every step.
For the bathroom, we kept the updates minimal yet impactful: we installed a new vanity top using the same quartz, Moen Doux brushed nickel faucets, and Kohler Caxton undermount sinks—all also sourced through Solutions Bath & Flooring. The continuity in materials ties the spaces together and maintains a clean, cohesive aesthetic.

This was the most frequently used phrase in the collaboration of 3 energies that resulted with this masterpiece "Cozy Elegance". The builder, the client, and the architect shared a common vision inspired by the spectacular lake front homesite. Elegant, refined, authentic; every space was carefully thought out to capture and exude the understated significance of blending nature with the home, while expressing the heritage of the owners’ life’s journey. It is a place that will inspire new memories for generations to come.

These elegant twin curved staircases transform the foyer into an impressive architectural statement. Rising symmetrically on either side of the entrance, they frame a curved balcony above, creating grandeur from the moment you enter. Both staircases feature rich oak treads and stringers paired with classic black wrought-iron balusters. Custom handrail components ensure smooth, seamless transitions through every curve. Careful collaboration and precise templating during the framing phase guaranteed a perfect fit along the curved walls, proving that exceptional results require both planning and precision.

Built on a steep lakeside terrain, the Tsuga residence by Appareil Architecture is an ambitious project that required meticulous planning and flawless execution. Nestled within the rugged landscapes of Brownsburg-Chatham, Tsuga elevates a complex site to offer a seamless immersion in nature. Balancing the site’s constraints with a high level of finish, every phase of the project was designed to reconcile technical challenges with precision. Modulor expertly managed all collaborators, ensuring a level of detail that defines a project of this scale.
On the exterior, the building envelope combines durability with refinement. Carefully selected natural wood cladding interacts with a perforated screen that filters light and adds depth to the façade. The integration of openings was strategically planned to maximize views while maintaining a cohesive architectural expression.
Inside, the materials and finishes reflect the same commitment to quality. Wooden paneling wraps the spaces, creating visual continuity and a warm atmosphere. The stainless steel kitchen, with its clean lines and custom design, introduces a striking contrast between modernity and natural textures. Every junction, every material transition was meticulously crafted to ensure a flawless result, with no compromises on durability or functionality.
Designed for an architectural historian and a musician and opera singer, Tsuga is the result of meticulous craftsmanship. A home built to stand the test of time, with an unwavering attention to detail.

Hightree by Jay Griffith of Jay Griffith Design
This half-acre site is nestled into the Rustic Canyon neighborhood, and is the second collaboration between the landscape designer and client. Architect Steven Ehrlich designed the striking Modernist home fifteen years ago. It is set on the canyon floor amidst native California sycamores, the only holdover from the previous design. The garden is naturalistic in spirit, but carefully calibrated to include species that thrive in the canyon’s specific microclimate, primarily determined by soil conditions and limited light quality. A dramatic rectilinear elevated pool, based on the house’s strong geometry, offsets the sycamore’s angularity and curvilinear nature. The pool’s design is practical, it’s five-foot tall walls address safety concerns associated with having small children; but It’s also very sculptural, a seamless, buff-colored plaster-coated concrete monolith. The watery surface suggests one of the house’s giant windows. Vast sweeps of understory plantings offer subtle contrasts both textural and though tonal variations of green. Photos by Jorge Rafael

Designed by Catherine Neitzey of Reico Kitchen & Bath in Fredericksburg, VA in collaboration with Joe Cristifulli and Cristifulli Custom Homes, this kitchen remodeling project features a transitional modern cottage style inspired kitchen design with Merillat Masterpiece Cabinetry in the door style Martel in Maple with Painted Bonsai finish. The kitchen countertops are Emerstone Quartz Alabaster Gold with a Kohler Whitehaven sink.
“Being part of creating this warm, texture rich, open kitchen was such a pleasure. The artist homeowner had an amazing vision from the beginning to launch the design work,” said Cat.
“Starting with her watercolor thumbnails, we met repeatedly before the walls started coming out to set the floor plan. Working with a supportive general contractor, the space transformed from 1978 to a modern showplace with nods to craftsman cottage style.”
“The muted green tone is a great backdrop for the lake views the home offers. We settled on an island design, adding storage without taking wall space away. The homeowner took such care with each decision to pull off integration of fresh, clean, lined modern elements, mixed metals, reclaimed woods and antiques. The layered textures bringing warmth to the space is something I hope to take with me for future projects!”
In addition to the kitchen, the bathroom was remodeled as well. It includes a Merillat Classic vanity cabinet in the Glenrock door style with 5-piece drawer front in the Boardwalk finish and a Virginia Marble cultured marble wave bowl vanity top in the color Bright White. Although Reico did not provide the tile, it is a White Subway with White and Black Penny Round Pan and Accent tile.

Claremont Dream Home
A Single Family New Construction
Chicago, Illinois
Type: New Construction
Location: Ravenswood Neighborhood, Chicago, IL
We had the pleasure of collaborating with a young family to shape their vision of a welcoming, laid-back home in this new construction home. AHD was hired at the early stages of construction to create a cohesive environment from the architectural finishes, lighting design to the furnishings and decor.
This project is a testament to the couple's diverse cultural influences, blending their English heritage with the rich tapestry of their travels through India. Through thoughtful design choices, we've sought to create an environment that not only reflects their personal style but also accommodates their evolving family needs.
Our focus has been on crafting a contemporary interior that prioritizes both comfort and durability, ensuring that every aspect of the space is not only inviting but also functional for their growing family. We selected bespoke furnishings, where craftsmanship takes center stage. Each piece was carefully curated to embody an organic biophilic aesthetic, creating a refreshing haven using earthy colors and genuine materials.
Our ultimate design intent was to create a space that is healthy, practical as well as aesthetically pleasing, tailored to the lifestyle and preferences of our clients.

Patsley Residence by Keith Williams of Nievera Williams Design Incorporated
This exquisitely detailed garden created during a complete exterior renovation is the result of a close collaboration between the owners (Texas natives and self-described perfectionists) and their landscape architect. The couple wanted to bring the flavor of their Lone Star State garden and its spatial relationships to lush Palm Beach, and they wanted to spend time outdoors. The resulting carefully articulated garden features a series of “rooms” for dining, lounging and entertaining – day and night – arrayed around a classically elegant pool.
The layered plantings provide a richly textured green backdrop with palm trees offering some shade. Colorful accents come from bright pink blooms of bougainvillea climbing the side of the house and wrapping about the brick columns of an existing pergola that was redesigned and relocated to one end of the pool. Tucked into one corner is a fountain, while a courtyard space features an intricate pattern made from hand set stones and well manicured lawn panels.

LandFluent was brought onto this remarkable Beverly Hills project by Raymond Jungles, Inc. to provide expert Construction Administration services. Our primary role was to bridge the gap between Raymond Jungles’ design documents and the on-site construction team, ensuring that every detail of the original vision was accurately executed in the built environment.
A significant aspect of our work involved collaborating closely with the construction team on the selection, sourcing, and precise placement of each specimen tree and palm, ensuring their delivery, orientation, and integration seamlessly complemented the overall design. From the early stages of site preparation to the final touches of hardscape detailing and understory planting, we remained deeply engaged, overseeing the process with precision and care.
It was a privilege to work alongside such a talented team, contributing to a project where every element—from the foundational groundwork to the finest landscape details—was thoughtfully realized to create a truly exceptional space.

From the moment this Northeast Minneapolis homeowner called on LiLu to transform her master suite, the design team knew a sense of artistry needed to be applied throughout the entire space. The age of the pieces in the client’s diverse collection of keepsakes lent intrigue and provided a creative challenge LiLu loves to embrace. Carefully balancing finishes, patterns, textures, and colors in the new master suite, LiLu collaborated to create interesting focal points where the eye could rest. The result is an inspired respite that strikes a visionary balance between modern and vintage.

Custom Kitchen Remodel: Blending Craftsmanship and Functionality
This kitchen renovation was all about creating a space that feels open, welcoming, and tailored to the homeowners’ vision. Working alongside the client, who led the interior design, Greenleaf reimagined the layout for better flow and connection to the surrounding living spaces.
To maximize functionality and openness, we removed the wall between the kitchen and dining area and relocated the kitchen to the other side of the house. This new layout allows for easier movement, better use of space, and a more natural connection between rooms.
Details That Make a Difference
Custom cabinetry by Unique Kitchens and Baths, featuring inset doors and drawers finished in three complementary tones
A freestanding, furniture-style island with a contrasting countertop to anchor the space
A handcrafted plaster range hood, framed by carefully placed wall sconces for a warm, inviting glow
Backsplash tile that extends all the way to the ceiling, adding texture and making clean-up a breeze
Pot filler and instant hot water dispenser for everyday convenience
Bringing the Outdoors In
The kitchen and dining areas now benefit from new Marvin Ultimate windows, along with a newly created door opening through brick that features Marvin Ultimate French doors. These upgrades bring in abundant natural light and create a seamless indoor-outdoor connection.
A Kitchen Designed to Be Lived In
From custom cabinetry to thoughtful design details, every element of this renovation reflects our commitment to creating spaces that feel as good as they look. By collaborating closely with the client and their design vision, we were able to build a kitchen that’s equal parts beautiful and highly functional—ready for gatherings, everyday meals, and everything in between.

Comprising three buildings located on a plot of 2100 m² completely enclosed in a natural environment ... The main house has 5 bedrooms, 3 master suites, reception rooms, a kitchen with living room ... On both sides there are two fully equipped houses, a "Préau" serving as summer kitchen. A special care was taken in the development of the exterior with beautiful seating, fountain in the center of the relaxation area, heated pool. $ 1,780,000 EUR. In collaboration with Uzès Sotheby's.

The one-story contemporary overlooking a lake and bird sanctuary was a retirement dream - open spaces, expansive views and plenty of room to host grandchildren. While the location was ideal, the home needed help - especially the kitchen as it was dark and confining. Walls were removed and doorways expanded to ensure the kitchen would be the center of activity. The dining table was placed in front of the window and a skylight added bringing in sunlight. We offered our clients practical solutions for storage and space planning. Specific items needed to be accessible and handy to suit their lifestyle. Based on their valued input, we added tall pull-out pantry units and cabinets with “hidden” drawers. Storage was strategically positioned for easy drop off and pick up as our clients came and went. Dark-stained cherry cabinets and light quartz countertops provided the sharp contemporary contrast favored by our homeowners. After much collaboration, discussion, and careful planning, they are enjoying their remodeled home and kitchen where we know they will create lasting memories in their lakeside retirement retreat.

This bathroom was created for homeowners who found us online and reached out after seeing our work, trusting us to bring their vision to life. From the start, we worked together seamlessly, listening closely to what they wanted and guiding them through every step of the process. The result is a calm, spa-like space with a large walk-in shower, warm stone-look tile, a built-in bench, and sleek matte black fixtures that feel modern yet timeless. Soft LED lighting highlights the tile and adds a relaxing glow, while the double vanity with custom cabinetry and backlit mirrors keeps the room bright, functional, and uncluttered. Natural stone floors add warmth and flow throughout the space. This project is a perfect example of how collaboration, clear communication, and attention to detail can turn a homeowner’s vision into a beautiful, well-crafted bathroom they’ll enjoy every day—and the same level of care we bring to every client who finds us and trusts us with their home.
