The new Owners of this cottage on Dickie Lake in the Township of Lake of Bays approached us to design a substantial “face-lift” renovation of the existing cottage, and to design a new garage for secure storage.
A scrapbook collection of architectural style reference photos that the Owners had collected set the starting point for an integrated & consistent design style between the cottage and the new garage.
A gable roof feature was added to “celebrate the entry” to the existing cottage.
Windows, doors & siding were installed to the newly constructed garage. Windows & doors in the existing cottage were integrated with the new board & batten siding applied to both the cottage and the garage.
A high-quality exterior siding stain was applied by hand-brushing for enhanced penetration & protection. A durable exterior deck stain was applied to the new cedar deck.

Our Cobble Collection includes both river rock and cobble stones which are irregular in nature. This collection consists of the largest range of sizes and shapes to suit the customer who is looking for a truely unique stone pattern.
River Rock is hand-picked from dry creek beds and rivers and will have smooth surfaces with rounded edges that are naturally tumbled by Mother Nature. River Rock typically has random sizes available from 3 inches to 12 inches in diameter (Heights).
Cobble stone refers to material that is more random in size. Most cobble stone is not smooth like River Rock; however, it can present with some smooth edges.
Both Cobble and River Rock is typically more measurable in diameter than a length-width-height measurement. Arizona River Rock is only available in Full Veneer stone.

Designed to embrace an extensive and unique art collection including sculpture, paintings, tapestry, and cultural antiquities, this modernist home located in north Scottsdale’s Estancia is the quintessential gallery home for the spectacular collection within. The primary roof form, “the wing” as the owner enjoys referring to it, opens the home vertically to a view of adjacent Pinnacle peak and changes the aperture to horizontal for the opposing view to the golf course. Deep overhangs and fenestration recesses give the home protection from the elements and provide supporting shade and shadow for what proves to be a desert sculpture. The restrained palette allows the architecture to express itself while permitting each object in the home to make its own place. The home, while certainly modern, expresses both elegance and warmth in its material selections including canterra stone, chopped sandstone, copper, and stucco.

THE PLANNED BATHROOM. | The modular Symetrics system opens up new perspectives in interior design for architects and planners. Symetrics comprises numerous individual modules for the entire bathroom area, which are tailored to a defined grid size. The modules can be arranged and combined freely within this grid. Because the spouts and controls are clearly separate, the overall appearance of the bathroom is redefined by the arrangement of the modules. Planning is based on a grid of vertical and horizontal reference lines. This grid also specifies the dimensions for the individual Symetrics modules, on the basis of a 60 x 60 mm base unit. | Available at www.shopstudio41.com

Modern lines beautifully executed by Alto Standing Construction with Lignum Elite - wide plank flooring from the Platinum Collection (random widths from 7 3/4" to 15 3/4" and up to 16 ft long). The color reference is "Valencia" in country grading.

Columbus Design-Build, Kitchen & Bath Remodeling, Historic Renovations

Karen and Chad of Tower Lakes, IL were tired of their unfinished basement functioning as nothing more than a storage area and depressing gym. They wanted to increase the livable square footage of their home with a cohesive finished basement design, while incorporating space for the kids and adults to hang out.
“We wanted to make sure that upon renovating the basement, that we can have a place where we can spend time and watch movies, but also entertain and showcase the wine collection that we have,” Karen said.
After a long search comparing many different remodeling companies, Karen and Chad found Advance Design Studio. They were drawn towards the unique “Common Sense Remodeling” process that simplifies the renovation experience into predictable steps focused on customer satisfaction.
“There are so many other design/build companies, who may not have transparency, or a focused process in mind and I think that is what separated Advance Design Studio from the rest,” Karen said.
Karen loved how designer Claudia Pop was able to take very high-level concepts, “non-negotiable items” and implement them in the initial 3D drawings. Claudia and Project Manager DJ Yurik kept the couple in constant communication through the project. “Claudia was very receptive to the ideas we had, but she was also very good at infusing her own points and thoughts, she was very responsive, and we had an open line of communication,” Karen said.
A very important part of the basement renovation for the couple was the home gym and sauna. The “high-end hotel” look and feel of the openly blended work out area is both highly functional and beautiful to look at. The home sauna gives them a place to relax after a long day of work or a tough workout. “The gym was a very important feature for us,” Karen said. “And I think (Advance Design) did a very great job in not only making the gym a functional area, but also an aesthetic point in our basement”.
An extremely unique wow-factor in this basement is the walk in glass wine cellar that elegantly displays Karen and Chad’s extensive wine collection. Immediate access to the stunning wet bar accompanies the wine cellar to make this basement a popular spot for friends and family.
The custom-built wine bar brings together two natural elements; Calacatta Vicenza Quartz and thick distressed Black Walnut. Sophisticated yet warm Graphite Dura Supreme cabinetry provides contrast to the soft beige walls and the Calacatta Gold backsplash. An undermount sink across from the bar in a matching Calacatta Vicenza Quartz countertop adds functionality and convenience to the bar, while identical distressed walnut floating shelves add an interesting design element and increased storage. Rich true brown Rustic Oak hardwood floors soften and warm the space drawing all the areas together.
Across from the bar is a comfortable living area perfect for the family to sit down at a watch a movie. A full bath completes this finished basement with a spacious walk-in shower, Cocoa Brown Dura Supreme vanity with Calacatta Vicenza Quartz countertop, a crisp white sink and a stainless-steel Voss faucet.
Advance Design’s Common Sense process gives clients the opportunity to walk through the basement renovation process one step at a time, in a completely predictable and controlled environment. “Everything was designed and built exactly how we envisioned it, and we are really enjoying it to it’s full potential,” Karen said.
Constantly striving for customer satisfaction, Advance Design’s success is heavily reliant upon happy clients referring their friends and family. “We definitely will and have recommended Advance Design Studio to friends who are looking to embark on a remodeling project small or large,” Karen exclaimed at the completion of her project.

Copeland's craftsman style Mansfield bedroom furniture is handmade in Vermont of solid cherry wood. Mansfield's solid cherry platform bed is low and sleek, designed for a mattress only. Matching case pieces include chests, dressers, night stands, a 3 drawer chest with organizer options for home entertainment equipment and a laptop desk that creates a trim, functional workspace.
Craftsman Style Meets Modern Design
Taking inspiration from arts & crafts style furniture as well as modern designs, Mansfield features a striking combination of the familiar and the unconventional. The artistic craftsman style design variation features 45 degree mitered corners “sawhorse” frames supporting the cases from the exterior. Forty-five Degree Miter construction refers to the angle in which solid wood tops and solid wood sides are joined to create a perfectly seamless perimeter. Stylistically, these cases are highly refined and visually Modern. The technique to produce this style of case requires extreme precision and is only attainable through exacting detail. The leading edge of each case is beveled to present a thin delicate, line that belies their considerable heft. This collection’s solid cherry wood construction and black bronze ring pulls make complex facets that create visual interest and highlight the superior precision craftsmanship.

DESCRIPTION:
“Alabastron” was the name of a village in Old Egypt, located near the city of Thebes, in which a calcareous-type translucent stone was extracted. It seems that the term also referred to objects (e.g. vessels, cups) originating from that place, which, originally, were made with this material. Eventually, the term began to refer only to the white translucent rock used in art and in the manufacturing of muchappreciated vessels.
