LINEA Design Build Remodel has been working on a series of projects for the owner of this historical home in Old Town Alexandria over the last several years that will ultimately result in the entire home being remodeled. This room required the demolition and structural rearrangement and reconstruction of an entire section of the home containing the master bath. LINEA Design Build Remodel is Class A licensed as both a building contractor and as a remodeling contractor; we have the expertise to evaluate and execute any renovation or reconstruction job, and we have a long history of working on historical properties in Old Town, Georgetown, and on Capitol Hill. At LINEA we understand the need to gracefully and respectfully integrate the old and new in any historical renovation work, and we are used to working hand in hand with the historical dwelling oversight committees of local jurisdictions.

The front entry includes a few key remodeling features - first, a heavy and substantial front entry door. Second, an indiscrete powder room. Third, a front hall closet to hide the mess. Fourth, dramatic dark stained original stairs and gold painted radiator, letting all who enter, that this home is filled with style and grace!

A black lacquer console table flanks the entry way by way of this great room. A swag artisan purple star lamp dangles above, shedding soft purple light. The clean and bright arrangement is a refresh of solid colored silk flowers (Magnolia) and Pussy willow branches. It rests by a vintage ebony sculpture, a Black woman. Her neck is adorned with sentimental statement jewelry that boasts the word “majesty”. Next to her is a white lacquer rectangular mirror repurposed as a tray that holds a host of white candles. At the forefront, a metal trapezoid shaped cigar ashtray holds a bundle of white sage and a Palo Santo stick etched with “Love”. It is almost a shrine of sorts. What a gorgeous presentation. Who wouldn’t want their space to be blessed with such a lovely welcoming committee?

With humble beginnings as an abandoned farm with a decaying greenhouse, this five acre lot was transformed into an active walking park for the community. Working with a committee of town volunteers to design and develop a vision for the park, Oakes Park was completed in 2006 and is now a daily destination point for many of the town's residents. The park hosts numerous dog walkers, casual strollers, the town's Memorial Day events and "Jazz in the Park" on Friday evenings throughout the summer months. Working closely with the builder, Madrone Construction, and the home owners, Patty Jones of Patty Jones Design, LLC selected and designed interior finishes for this custom home which features Sapele wood cabinetry, Hubbardton Forge Light Fixtures, modern cabinetry, and solid slab counter tops. Patty also selected exterior finishes – stain and paint colors, stone, roof color, etc. Patty was involved early through the initial planning working with the home architectural designer, Joey Shaw of Homeland Designs, LLC including preparing the presentation board and documentation for the Architectural Review Committee. All materials and products were sourced locally.

DEBBIE KERR, CKD Jaeger Lumber Kitchen Division Manager Debbie is a CKD (Certified Kitchen Designer) with over 18 years of industry related experience, working with both homeowners & remodelers on all types of projects. There is no project to small, or too big, for Debbie. Her organized and calming approach to the entire process helps put her clients at ease…and her repeat & referral business confirms that! Working creatively 'outside of the box' with both the contractor and homeowner….expectations are usually exceeded! In 2006, Debbie was promoted as the Kitchen Division manager for Jaeger Lumber. During that time, and with an eye towards providing the most current & relevant products in the industry, Debbie added two new cabinetry lines, multiple countertop manufacturers and expanded the cabinetry hardware selections. By attending the annual Kitchen & Bath Industry Show (KBIS), she is able to stay in-sync with industry trends. Debbie's educational background includes a Master's Certificate in Project Management, a MBA in Finance & Bachelor's degree in Marketing from Lehigh University. Debbie is currently the President for the Northern New Jersey Chapter of the NKBA (National Kitchen & Bath Association). Debbie has also held multiple positions on the local NKBA board including 5 years as the Chapter Treasurer, 4 years as the VP of Government Relations, Chapter Secretary, and 3 years as Chapter Representative. She was also a member of the NKBA National Finance Committee and National Recruitment Committee. She has co-chaired the NKBA annual golf scholarship outing for 5 years. Debbie lives with her husband & son in Oldwick, NJ. Working closely with the home owners and the builder, Jess Alway, Inc., Patty Jones of Patty Jones Design, LLC selected and designed interior finishes for this custom home which features distressed oak wood cabinetry with custom stain to create an old world effect, reclaimed wide plank fir hardwood, hand made tile mural in range back splash, granite slab counter tops with thick chiseled edges, custom designed interior and exterior doors, stained glass windows provided by the home owners, antiqued travertine tile, and many other unique features. Patty also selected exterior finishes – stain and paint colors, stone, roof color, etc. and was involved early with the initial planning working with the home architectural designer including preparing the presentation board and documentation for the Architectural Review Committee.

Converting the former sunroom into four season space that flows with the rest of the home created a nook to lounge in and improved access and view of the rear yard. A mix match of white and blue cabinets, with the matching cambria quartz counters adds a fun mix to the conventional white kitchen.

This beautiful pool house was not without its challenges. There were height restrictions and conservation authorities had to approve everything first, as well as obtaining the permits and building the structure without going to the committee of adjustment. It was a very enjoyable project as our clients made a few great changes along the way and we communicated well. The pool and landscaping were executed by Elite Crete Pools.
