This run of the mills 1950 Rambler in Fairfax city area is in a desired need of a facelift. The retiring homeowner wanted to stay in their old neighborhood while desiring to uplift their droopy front elevation and compete with rest of new comers in their neighborhood. Through several design consultation and lots of changes, our design staff has presented her with a final draft. They wanted to hang out in front porch and enjoy their front yard and walking neighbors more their backyard. • We designed implemented a new covered front porch with trex flooring and stone columns with tarped tops, beaded panel ceiling, recess lights and ceiling fan, perfect place for couple rockers to hang outdoor and enjoy the view. • The entire three sides of the house were covered with veneer water table stone and hardie plank siding with a jade green and a complementary shaker siding on the gables. • Adding tow gable over the garage and the left elevation has changed the entire front elevation • The new arts & Craft wooden garage door and front door uplifted the street appearance and given it a much-desired country look • The entire roofing was changed up with Architectural shingles and trimmed and new gable, then painted the old brick walls to compliment the new Hardie sidings. • Rain drop gutters and soft landscaping brought the look together

Ten-inch crown molding and antiqued faux-paneling throughout replicates Old World style and add pleasing textural depth that’s complementary to the room’s nine-foot ceiling height.

The newly remodeled space produced a gorgeous center island large enough to seat five and house a new Frigidaire gallery dishwasher and an Undermount stainless steel sink. Surrounding the island are two banks of beautiful Wellborn Select Bedford Square style cabinets in Maple with a Sienna stain. The contrasting backsplash behind the range and coffee nook is finished in a 12 x 22 Impero glazed porcelain tile. Two eye-catching Kichler island pendants were added above the central island to soften the space, and a complementary Kichler six-light pewter chandelier was positioned over the dining area to complete the look.

Marsh Kitchen & Bath designer Jan Zuccarello started this project as an update to a 1990s kitchen and quickly turned it into the homeowner's dream kitchen. Taking out a pantry and desk area, changing a window, updating appliances, and adding a new color palette with complementary lighting made the new space light and airy with a feeling of openness. This traditional two-story boathouse on Lake Joseph is the perfect complementary addition to the rustic main house on Bungay Island. The timber accent frame brings a warm and inviting aura to the space and contrasts beautifully against the dark exterior. Featured on the bottom half is a hidden outdoor shower, great for guests to enjoy at their weekend cottage getaway. Indoors of the boathouse contains a family room overlooking the north end of Lake Joseph with a hidden reading nook, the perfect space for an afternoon siesta! Originally built in 1835, years of deferred maintance and a failing foundation rendered this home in need of a serious help. The home had poorly constructed additions removed, it's core historic structure was raise out of the flood zone, and the angled walls were brought to plumb. The interior was then crafted for contemporary living while maintaining the windows and details of the original home. A complementary addition was added to create an inviting kitchen and master suite. The clients were committed to creating an expression of the art of living by way of the thoughtful design of their ultimate home. The relationship between owner, architect and designer was a shared and genuine search for the most perfect solutions. Exterior walls of Old Spruce Mountain Stone flow seamlessly to enrich the interior. The Interior stone floors consist mainly of Cara Grande Marble with selected use of complementary stone where special patterns have been used to dramatize certain architectural spaces. An irregular kitchen island countertop consists of Azul Aran Granite with a triple laminate reverse bevel edge. The guest level powder room, referred to as "The Jewel Box," consists of multi color Persian Onyx and Red Jasper Marble arranged in angular patterns that connect across the floor, extending up the four walls and across the ceiling. Two additional guest bathrooms feature piano key stone floor patterns that turn up the wall. The custom wine room tabletop features Tiger Eye Blue, a hand-inlay of semi- precious stones. The master bathroom features a 12 foot elliptical floor medallion consisting of Bianco Laso Marble, with angular and circular pieces. In all, the interior utilizes 27 species of stone, mainly from the Verona region of Italy.

The Recessed Shadow Desk is a gorgeous 7 foot walnut desk with with steel and brass accents, displaying a complementary design with the organic wood and industrial steel. The recessed shadow pulls are backed with steel finished in Random Black Veil patina with a brass face on the drawers. The drawer system is floating and mounted to the walnut desktop. The desk edges are angled, giving another element of detail to this beautiful piece.

I am extremely pleased with the results of the remarkable renovation of our master bathroom and closet. The layout was thoughtfully reconfigured to include a walk-in shower featuring elegant glass doors. We adorned the bathroom walls with striking emerald green tiles and applied a complementary green plaster finish. A wall-mounted Kohler toilet was installed, harmonizing beautifully with the floating vanity. The addition of chrome bathroom fixtures provided the ideal finishing touch. I would also like to extend my gratitude to our carpenters for their exceptional work on the custom closet.

This project involved increasing the perceived scale of an existing undersized travertine patio in the back yard of a new home. The kidney shaped patio did nothing for the lines of the house. We visually extended the patio by running travertine "planks" parallel to the loggia to elongate the space and to give a slight illusion of antiquity, seeing the planks as remnants of a previous foundation on the property. The planks are interplanted with 'Bronzita' carex to pick up the color of the rusted metal sculpture. It will further soften the lines as it grows in.
