The new flow around the kitchen works for this busy family of five, and mom and dad always have a clear view of the family room. Natural elements are incorporated in a fresh transitional style in details such as quarter sawn white oak cabinetry with mitered cabinet doors. An abundance of creative storage makes preparation and cooking easy for mom who loves to bake. In lieu of a traditional set of table and chairs, the dining table is connected to the end of the large island, which also places it in a nice sunny spot in close proximity to the doors leading to the deck. Additional counter seating is included with complimentary furniture. The island is highlighted with a fantastic slab of natural stone, adding contrast and a little drama while perfectly complimenting the other materials in the space. Stainless steel appliances and hardware keep it modern while a pretty glass mosaic backsplash adds depth and texture.

This enviable property sits perched on the bluff directly across from the ocean in the La Selva Beach neighborhood of Aptos. Project goals included overall beautification via plants with year-round color and showy blooms, more privacy on the patio and deck, and a way to deter frequent dog-walkers from cutting through the garden. We accomplished this last goal by building up soil mounds behind retaining walls and using taller plants at the apex. Privacy for the deck was achieved by the addition of sleek stucco walls. Project features a large swath of a walkable, drought-tolerant grass alternative. Special care was devoted to selecting plants that can withstand the wind, fog and salt-spray that occur near the ocean. South African and Australian plants figure prominently into the plant palette and create a vibrant complimentary color scheme against the ocean backdrop. Who wouldn't want to spend time in this ocean-view garden?

This bathroom remodel was took four months to complete. We creates a new master bathroom, closet space, a new powder room, and laundry area within the existing space. We were also asked to create a new egress to the back of the home from the newly created laundry room. This project was completed in May of 2023 and took 4 months from start to finish,. The cabinets are Kraftmaid Vantage with Barley stain on maple wood. The same cabinets were used in the powder room and painted Dove White. The counters are Emerstone Quartz Mont Blanc. All fixtures (nickel finish) as well as the toilets are Kohler.

Our clients in Tower Lakes, IL, needed more storage and functionality from their kitchen. They were primarily focused on finding the right combination of cabinets, shelves, and drawers that fit all their cookware, flatware, and appliances. They wanted a brighter, bigger space with a natural cooking flow and plenty of storage. Soffits and crown molding needed to be removed to make the kitchen feel larger. Redesign elements included: relocating the fridge, adding a baking station and coffee bar, and placing the microwave in the kitchen island.
Advance Design Studio’s Claudia Pop offered functional, creative, and unique solutions to the homeowners’ problems. Our clients wanted a unique kitchen that was not completely white, a balance of design and function. Claudia offered functional, creative, and unique solutions to Chad and Karen’s kitchen design challenges. The first thing to go was soffits. Today, most kitchens can benefit from the added height and space; removing soffits is nearly always step one. Steely gray-blue was the color of choice for a freshly unique look bringing a sophisticated-looking space to wrap around the fresh new kitchen. Cherry cabinetry in a true brown stain compliments the stormy accents with sharp contrasting white Cambria quartz top balancing out the space with a dramatic flair.
“We wanted something unique and special in this space, something none of the neighbors would have,” said Claudia.
The dramatic veined Cambria countertops continue upward into a backsplash behind three complimentary open shelves. These countertops provide visual texture and movement in the kitchen. The kitchen includes two larder cabinets for both the coffee bar and baking station. The kitchen is now functional and unique in design.
“When we design a new kitchen space, as designers, we are always looking for ways to balance interesting design elements with practical functionality,” Claudia said. “This kitchen’s new design is not only way more functional but is stunning in a way a piece of art can catch one’s attention.”
Decorative mullions with mirrored inserts sit atop dual sentinel pantries flanking the new refrigerator, while a 48″ dual fuel Wolf range replaced the island cooktop and double oven. The new microwave is cleverly hidden within the island, eliminating the cluttered counter and attention-grabbing wall of stainless steel from the previous space.
The family room was completely renovated, including a beautifully functional entertainment bar with the same combination of woods and stone as the kitchen and coffee bar. Mesh inserts instead of plain glass add visual texture while revealing pristine glassware. Handcrafted built-ins surround the fireplace.
The beautiful and efficient design created by designer Claudia transitioned directly to the installation team seamlessly, much like the basement project experience Chad and Karen enjoyed previously.
“We definitely will and have recommended Advance Design Studio to friends who are looking to embark on a project small or large,” Karen said.
“Everything that was designed and built exactly how we envisioned it, and we are really enjoying it to its full potential,” Karen said.

The Pleasant Beach Shop was designed to complement the main house that had been constructed in the early 2,000’s.
The Shop supports a functioning, thriving woodworking business and at the same time is a complimentary neighbor amongst the residential context. The shop is lit by both artificial and natural light through a continuous light monitor along the ridge of the roof. This monitor allows for both height and light when working inside the Shop and acts as a lantern to the forest during the evening.

The farmhouse sink has a square profile, complimentary to the slab door style of the cabinetry. The green tile is truly the focal point of this space.

Our clients requested a dramatic, yet classy look for their master and guest bathroom remodels. The clients desperately needed more storage space and wanted to maximize functionality. We were excited to share our ideas and design a timeless look that the clients could enjoy for many years.
Our clients wanted the look of marble, without the maintenance of natural stone, in addition to a bold contrasting element within this space. The goal was to use similar materials throughout, but implement various patterns and textures to create a visual flow from one area to the next. To maximize storage and propose a contrasting element, we designed the cabinetry using maple cabinets with an Onyx finish for a classic look. Outback granite countertops were fabricated for the vanities. We installed the same granite on the tub deck and within the shower to create a smooth visual flow. The cabinet finish allowed the natural light from the window to provide colorful dimension to the overall look of the cabinets.
The shower is wrapped in breathtaking porcelain slabs intended to look like marble, and provide little to no maintenance. We addressed safety by incorporating sleek grab bars near the entry of the shower and on the back wall near the shower head.

This beautiful kitchen features custom Euro (Frameless) style cabinetry by Mouser Centra. Light grey stained cherry cabinets on Perimeter, dark grey stained cherry cabinets on Island. Modern touch on a traditional layout, giving clients an open statement and beautiful gathering place for friends and family. This kitchen is the heart of the home in concept and actuality, it is the main space between both living rooms, the dining room and their large outdoor entertaining space. Having thoughtful storage, upgraded appliances and easy flow were key factors in the clients design. This kitchen has a two tone design with two different cabinetry styles being utilized from Fieldstone Cabinetry. The main kitchen cabinets are in a decorative shaker style door, Roseburg in Alder Wood with a Driftwood Stain and Ebony Glaze. And the tall pantry cabinets are in a flat panel door, Tempe in a Lyptus Wood with a Slate Stain and Ebony Glaze. Both cabinetry have complimentary gray tones, that also compliments the beautiful MSI Q Quartz Calacatta Arno. The quartz counter top was used not only to create a stunning waterfall edge off of the peninsula, but also used as the backsplash on the cook top wall giving the kitchen a clean and seamless look. The modern black bar pulls from Top Knobs Hardware, stainless steel appliances and apron front sink from E2 Stainless are a great way to mix metals in a kitchen design and give a pop of contrasting colors to the kitchen. This Contemporary kitchen is loved by the homeowners and hopefully loved by you and sparks some inspiration for your kitchen remodel.

When we met these wonderful Palm Springs clients, they were overwhelmed with the task of downsizing their vast collection of fine art, antiques, and sculptures. The problem was it was an amazing collection so the task was not easy. What do we keep? What do we let go? Design Vision Studio to the rescue! We realized that to really showcase these beautiful pieces, we needed to pick and choose the right ones and ensure they were showcased properly.
Lighting was improved throughout the home. We installed and updated recessed lights and cabinet lighting. Outdated ceiling fans and chandeliers were replaced. The walls were painted with a warm, soft ivory color and the moldings, door and windows also were given a complimentary fresh coat of paint. The overall impact was a clean bright room.
We replaced the outdated oak front doors with modern glass doors. The fireplace received a facelift with new tile, a custom mantle and crushed glass to replace the old fake logs. Custom draperies frame the views. The dining room was brought to life with recycled magazine grass cloth wallpaper on the ceiling, new red leather upholstery on the chairs, and a custom red paint treatment on the new chandelier to tie it all together. (The chandelier was actually powder-coated at an auto paint shop!)
Once crammed with too much, too little and no style, the Asian Modern Bedroom Suite is now a DREAM COME TRUE. We even incorporated their much loved (yet horribly out-of-date) small sofa by recovering it with teal velvet to give it new life.
Underutilized hall coat closets were removed and transformed with custom cabinetry to create art niches. We also designed a custom built-in media cabinet with "breathing room" to display more of their treasures. The new furniture was intentionally selected with modern lines to give the rooms layers and texture.
When we suggested a crystal ship chandelier to our clients, they wanted US to walk the plank. Luckily, after months of consideration, the tides turned and they gained the confidence to follow our suggestion. Now their powder room is one of their favorite spaces in their home.
Our clients (and all of their friends) are amazed at the total transformation of this home and with how well it "fits" them. We love the results too. This home now tells a story through their beautiful life-long collections. The design may have a gallery look but the feeling is all comfort and style.
