This Lake Michigan cottage reflects a casual beach style that welcomes a family seeking fun and relaxation on weekend get-a-ways. The color scheme is comprised of blues to mimic the lake and sky, greens to emulate the foliage, and pops of orange and soft yellow cream walls to create the feeling of a warm sunshine. The commission consisted of the design of a new English Manor House on a secluded 24 acre plot of land. The property included water features, rolling grass areas at the front and a steep section of woods at the rear. The project required the procurement of permits from the New Jersey Department of Environmental Conservation and a variance from the Mendham Zoning Board of Appeals. The stately Colonial Manor is entirely clad in Pennsylvania stone, has slate roofs, copper gutters and leaders, and lavish interior finishes. It comprises six Bedroom Suites, each with its own Bathroom, plus an apartment over the garages, and eight garage bays. The house was designed with energy efficiency in mind, and incorporates the highest R-value insulation throughout, low-E, argon-filled insulating windows and patio doors, a geothermal HVAC system, and energy-efficient appliances.

My clients had always been inspired by the grand Tudor Revival homes of the early 20th century and commissioned Hull Historical to recreate the authentic custom millwork, paneling and doors for their new Tudor Revival home. Our inspiration came from 2 great English homes, Stan Hywett, a great Tudor Revival home in Ohio, built for the founder of Goodyear Tires. Also, the Woodbine Mansion, built in 1911 for the son of the Pabst Brewing Company. We were fortunate to purchase three rooms of architectural millwork from the woodbine home, which was originally fabricated by the Huber Company of New York. Upon completion of this project, the architectural salvage comprised 15% of the final quantity of paneling installed. The remainder was custom fabricated by Hull Historical at our shop in Fort Worth, TX and installed at the clients home. The commission, based on historic precedent, constituted antique paneling on the main floor, beamed ceilings and all the doors in the home. The new paneling, including the kitchen cabinetry is made from a combination of new quarter-sawn white oak and antique white oak salvaged from old barns and buildings. All the oak was fumed in an ammonia-filled chamber to produce a cocoa color and deep feel giving the millwork rough character and a timeless look that my client loved. The millwork also served to give the home a hierarchy, with simple paneling combined with board and batten doors downstairs, then more ornate paneling, with carvings on the main floor. Additionally, the main floor features mostly 8 and 10 panel doors. All woodwork was hand-pegged with oak pegs. Some of the paneling features a unique Mason’s Miter, a historic joinery technique inspired from stone work. This holiday table setting is for Luxury Living USA -Fendi Casa Table. It was our honored and privileged to be asked to design their holiday table at their Beverly Hills' Flagship Store. The color board for this table encompasses bronze, black, gold and hint of green. It is a table unlike any other traditional holiday tables but then again Fendi is not just any luxury brand. This is the brand that started as a fashion house into the world’s most known home good furnishings. To truly represent Fendi at this table, we must go beyond the holiday traditional ideas and break the mold a little. It was important for us to bring into this table all the elements that truly represents Fendi without comprising the look of it.

Dusty Waldrop of Waldrop Builders engaged Kinney & Associates to design a semi-modern 4000-square foot speculative reside-nce that is in the Verano neighborhood of Barton Creek. The program included three bedrooms in the main house (one doubling as an office) each with their own bathrooms, a Living Room, and a Family Room adjacent the Kitchen, as well as Dining Rooms. The developer also wanted a separate Guest Quarters located adjacent an Outdoor Living area and the pool. One design feature of the residence was the custom-cut limestone facade comprised of large 24" x 12" precisely cut stones arranged in a running bond pattern. This gives the facade a very modern yet warm feel. The other exterior materials chosen for the house were wood and stucco, which complement the stone dramatically.

The completely custom grand staircase is 15 feet of total elevation change from the lower sidewalk to the front door. Comprised of solid charcoal concrete, the staircase features Cut Stone Live edge risers and a textured surface.

Custom oversized wool rug with a blend of color to make this home to 3 pets a livable space without comprising design. We added and collaborated with Craig Alan to find the perfect piece for this fun family. The custom sofa is deep enough and long enough to make this living area a fun place for the whole family.
