This expansive Victorian had tremendous historic charm but hadn’t seen a kitchen renovation since the 1950s. The homeowners wanted to take advantage of their views of the backyard and raised the roof and pushed the kitchen into the back of the house, where expansive windows could allow southern light into the kitchen all day. A warm historic gray/beige was chosen for the cabinetry, which was contrasted with character oak cabinetry on the appliance wall and bar in a modern chevron detail. The craft room features custom designed mill work, including a window seat and a table with seating, storage, and dowel racks for wrapping paper and ribbon dispensing.

This family’s basement had become a catch-all space and was sorely underutilized. Although it was spacious, the current layout wasn’t working. The homeowners wanted to transform this space from closed and dreary to open and inviting. Specific requirements of the design included: - Opening up the area to create an awesome family hang out space game room for kids and adults - A bar and eating area - A theater room that the parents could enjoy without disturbing the kids at night - An industrial design aesthetic The transformation of this basement is amazing. Walls were opened to create flow between the game room, eating space and theater rooms. One end of a staircase was closed off, enabling the soundproofing of the theater. A light neutral palette and gorgeous lighting fixtures make you forget that you are in the basement. Unique materials such as galvanized piping, corrugated metal and cool light fixtures give the space an industrial feel. Now, this basement functions as the great family hang out space the homeowners envisioned.

French Manor Mission Hills, Kansas This new Country French Manor style house is located on a one-acre site in Mission Hills, Kansas. Our design is a traditional 2-story center hall plan with the primary living areas on the first floor, placing the formal living and dining rooms to the front of the house and the informal breakfast and family rooms to the rear with direct access to the brick paved courtyard terrace and pool. The exterior building materials include oversized hand-made brick with cut limestone window sills and door surrounds and a sawn cedar shingle roofing. The Country French style of the interior of the house is detailed using traditional materials such as handmade terra cotta tile flooring, oak flooring in a herringbone pattern, reclaimed antique hand-hewn wood beams, style and rail wall paneling, Venetian plaster, and handmade iron stair railings. The home-office includes a built-in flat wall monitor to use for long distance conferences and a computer area seen at the right edge of the photo. Both the center table and the computer desk can be hydraulically lowered into the rectangular recess (horikotatsu) in the floor beneath them. When the table and desk are raised, these recesses provide leg room when sitting on the floor.

A full renovation for this boy's bedroom included custom built-ins on both ends of the room as well as new furniture, lighting, rug, accessories, and a Roman shade. The built-ins provide storage space and elegantly display an extensive collection of sports memorabilia. The built-in desk is a perfect place for studying and homework. A home office off the kitchen can be concealed with a pocket door. Gray-painted maple Wood-Mode cabinetry complements the kitchen finishes but makes the space unique. **Project Overview** A small, quiet, efficient office space for one that is perfect for sorting mail and paying bills. Though small it has a great deal of natural light and views out the front of the house of the lush landscaping and wildlife. A pocket door makes the office disappear when it's time to entertain. **What Makes This Project Unique?** Small yet incredibly functional, this desk space is a comfortable, quiet place to catch up on home management tasks. Filled with natural light and offering a view of lush landscaping, the compact space is light and airy. To keep it from feeling cramped or crowded, we complemented warm gray-painted maple cabinetry with light countertops and tile. Taller ceilings allow ample storage, including full-height open storage, to manage all of the papers, files and extras that find their way into the home. **Design Challenges** While the office was intentionally designed into a tiny nook off the kitchen and pantry, we didn't want it to feel small for the people using it. By keeping the color palette light, taking cabinetry to the ceiling, incorporating open storage and maximizing natural light, the space feels cozy, and larger than it actually is. Inspiration for a transitional built-in desk medium tone wood floor and brown floor home office remodel in Santa Barbara with gray walls

Clients' first home and there forever home with a family of four and in laws close, this home needed to be able to grow with the family. This most recent growth included a few home additions including the kids bathrooms (on suite) added on to the East end, the two original bathrooms were converted into one larger hall bath, the kitchen wall was blown out, entrying into a complete 22'x22' great room addition with a mudroom and half bath leading to the garage and the final addition a third car garage. This space is transitional and classic to last the test of time.
