This 7,000 square foot Spec Home in the Arcadia Silverleaf neighborhood was designed by Red Egg Design Group in conjunction with Marbella Homes. The client wanted to utilize the front yard better and replace their steep entry stairs. Levitch created a more graceful winding stair and added a small deck at the top that's a perfect spot to enjoy a cup of coffee or the sunset. We used minimal concrete over wood frame construction to reduce weight and potential waterproofing concerns while maintaining a traditional look in keeping with the home. Since the entry upgrades were done in conjunction with landscaping, the owner wanted something that looked organic. Working in conjunction with multiple trades and Eden Tree Design Inc., we were able to create this modern space, utilizing every corner of the property to it's fullest potential. Spectacular red granite boulders through out the rough landscape, harsh winds, intense heat and sometimes, even snow, were all horticultural challenges and inspirations on this beautiful Mediterranean seaside property. Nicholas Walker and his team worked in conjunction with his brother Malcolm to create a stunning series of Belgian Blue Stone terraces and pathways to connect the diverse sections of the property and integrate the indoor and outdoor living experience. They designed a sheltered cactus oasis, organic culinary garden and an intimate Ipe observation deck as virtual rooms linked by the elegant stone pathways and framed by the sea.

This modern home, near Cedar Lake, built in 1900, was originally a corner store. A massive conversion transformed the home into a spacious, multi-level residence in the 1990’s. However, the home’s lot was unusually steep and overgrown with vegetation. In addition, there were concerns about soil erosion and water intrusion to the house. The homeowners wanted to resolve these issues and create a much more useable outdoor area for family and pets. Castle, in conjunction with Field Outdoor Spaces, designed and built a large deck area in the back yard of the home, which includes a detached screen porch and a bar & grill area under a cedar pergola. The previous, small deck was demolished and the sliding door replaced with a window. A new glass sliding door was inserted along a perpendicular wall to connect the home’s interior kitchen to the backyard oasis. The screen house doors are made from six custom screen panels, attached to a top mount, soft-close track. Inside the screen porch, a patio heater allows the family to enjoy this space much of the year. Concrete was the material chosen for the outdoor countertops, to ensure it lasts several years in Minnesota’s always-changing climate. Trex decking was used throughout, along with red cedar porch, pergola and privacy lattice detailing. The front entry of the home was also updated to include a large, open porch with access to the newly landscaped yard. Cable railings from Loftus Iron add to the contemporary style of the home, including a gate feature at the top of the front steps to contain the family pets when they’re let out into the yard. In conjunction with the living space, we did all new paint, baseboard, flooring, and decor we were able to create a quaint dining space that on-looks the lake

This project involved removing a failing deck and drainage system. Our construction crew installed a brand new deck with Azek Timbertech mahogany decking and their composite railing system with mahogany drink rail. This deck also included a hidden door system and slat detail around the base. We also plumbed a quick connect gas line to eliminate the client having to worry about filling grill tanks. Our landscape construction teams also installed a brand new drainage system around the entire property that will manage roof, gutter, and downspout water in conjunction with surface water.
