Randy Angell, Designer GOLD International Award of Excellence winner - The transitional modern home was designed with large amounts of glass opening into the courtyard, creating an indoor-outdoor feel, and a visual connection among the spaces that could not be ignored. The neighboring wall, however, was not only rather imposing, but also of a style completely disconnected from our clients home. Our goal was to create a layering effect, with features of varying heights, both to add depth and dimension to the space, and to take the focus of the viewer off of the neighbor's wall.

In Andover, Massachusetts overlooking the Fish Brook Wetlands sits a custom-built contemporary home that connects the interior, landscaping and natural environment in the most intriguing ways. The final design brings together rich, earthy tones that complement the surrounding trees and natural landscape. Pecky Cypress garage doors add warmth and texture, while wood accents on the front porch enhance the organic, inviting feel. Carefully chosen paint, trim, stone, and a sleek metal roof create a harmonious and timeless look. The result is a stunning exterior that feels seamlessly connected to its environment.

An existing house with several additions lacked coherence and connection to the large private yard. The homeowners asked us to re-envision the property to be both a cozy home for them and an inviting destination suitable for entertaining friends and family. Using our master plan design service, we re-imagined the entire house and land as a whole. This holistic approach led to an unexpected and beautiful re-ordering of the home integrated with the private yard. Large floor to ceiling glass walls are used to connect inside and outside rooms. Reclaimed wood beams, stone walls, and integral colored plaster curate an interior environment that is elevated yet relaxed.

The idea of this project was to create a special environment that stimulates all senses in the human body, an environment that is vibrant and most importantly interactive for all ages. We began by searching for the right materials to create a specific feeling of time and space. Placement of the water feature was designed by studying how the customer used their home. The waterfalls and streams connect separate outdoor spaces and accommodate for all views outdoors and indoors. A sense of mystery is designed into every detail in this water feature. The layout of the ponds play accordingly with the sun for excellent reflections, and each rock formation has time designed into it. The environment is inviting, and interactive. Each person that walks out to explore the environment has his or her curiosity rewarded by discovering plant life, trickling streams, and several waterfalls only to be discovered by the inquisitive explorer.
