The color scheme was inspired by the client's collection of amethyst glass and turned wood objects. The mix of grass weave shades, earthy aubergine hued fabrics and carpets warm the cooler glass and stone and concrete surfaces.

The master bath renovation in this Mid-Century Modern home maximized functionality and aesthetics while maintaining the original personality. Creating an open space was a challenge conquered through the innovative use of a Crowderslide© telescoping track door for the water closet and a Rev-a-shelf© pull-out storage unit. The trapezoid-like shape was embraced for the relocated curbless shower, which features a frameless glass door, stone niche shelves, a stone bench seat with waterfall edge and Deco tile. Floor space was increased by 10 percent by downsizing the double stud wall and using a non-traditional 19.25-inch-deep floating double vanity. The result is two centuries of styles beautifully merged.

This clever adaptation of a residence previously overdesigned in an old world theme showcases that in the hands of a deft professional great design conquers all. Gone are the enormous fussy wrought iron chandeliers and heavy drapery treatments. Now reinvented with stunning custom contemporary lighting and exposed windows filling the spaces with natural light. A large mural of columnar birch trees behind the master bed creates a vertical rhythm in an otherwise bland space. Bright, fresh fabrics and furniture profiles immediately update the traditional paneled walls throughout the home.
