The Kichler Bensimone Chandelier takes the iconic shape and puts it in a modern context. Long sweeping rods lead the eye downward to the exposed bulbs, sitting atop squared off support rods, mimicking the age-old aesthetic of candles. This minimal meets classical interpretation of a timeless shape will uplift as well as illuminate a range of spaces, from more contemporary to transitional.

The 700-square-foot rental cabin is envisioned as a cozy gentleman’s fishing cabin, reflecting the area’s nautical history, built to fit the context of its surroundings. The cottage is meant to feel like a snapshot in time, where bird watching and reading trump television and technology.

The renovation of this classic Muskoka cottage, focused around re-designing the living space to make the most of the incredible lake views. This update completely changed the flow of space, aligning the living areas with a more modern & luxurious living context.
In collaboration with the client, we envisioned a home in which clean lines, neutral tones, a variety of textures and patterns, and small yet luxurious details created a fresh, engaging space while seamlessly blending into the natural environment.
The main floor of this home was completely gutted to reveal the true beauty of the space. Main floor walls were re-engineered with custom windows to expand the client’s majestic view of the lake.
The dining area was highlighted with features including ceilings finished with Shadowline MDF, and enhanced with a custom coffered ceiling bringing dimension to the space.
Unobtrusive details and contrasting textures add richness and intrigue to the space, creating an energizing yet soothing interior with tactile depth.

Outbuildings grow out of their particular function and context. Design maintains unity with the main house and yet creates interesting elements to the Outbuilding itself, treating it like an accent piece.

Before our project, the old stone colonial had no context and no landscape within its sparse double lot.

Set in the context of stately early 20thcentury houses, this project harkens back to an earlier time. Our design accumulates an ambitious program for a young family with a five-part colonial revival composition in brick and wood. Taking advantage of a generous sloping site the design accommodates three levels of active indoor and outdoor living. All of the principal rooms flank a courtyard embraced by the L-shaped plane using advanced construction methodology. This house is extremely energy efficient and detailed for longevity.

The house presents itself as a series of sand-blasted 12-8-16 masonry walls upon which a stainless steel and glass clad volume floats. The masonry walls are solid with minimal openings in order to edit out the existing context of the neighborhood while also ensuring privacy. In specific locations associated with the entry courtyard and the outdoor space for a guest bedroom, the masonry gradually opens up its coursing to allow for light and air.

Located in the Highlands neighborhood of Denver, Colorado, this contemporary home nestles itself politely within the existing context by utilizing some familiar materials and front yard setbacks. On the inside an open stair on the north façade provides soft light thru out the house. A series of terraces and a basement walkout expand the interior outwards and provide a multitude of comfortable exterior spaces. Photos by Ron Ruscio, Renderings by Clutch Design Studio.
