Paired on the Basic Color Wheel orange and blue have a special relationship. When they are placed next to each other, they make the other appear more intense and brighter. That’s because, being opposite, one color is always cool and the other always warm with the greatest contrast.

This is our very first Four Elements remodel show home! We started with a basic spec-level early 2000s walk-out bungalow, and transformed the interior into a beautiful modern farmhouse style living space with many custom features. The floor plan was also altered in a few key areas to improve livability and create more of an open-concept feel. Check out the shiplap ceilings with Douglas fir faux beams in the kitchen, dining room, and master bedroom. And a new coffered ceiling in the front entry contrasts beautifully with the custom wood shelving above the double-sided fireplace. Highlights in the lower level include a unique under-stairs custom wine & whiskey bar and a new home gym with a glass wall view into the main recreation area.

For this finished basement we did the design, engineering, remodeling, and installations. The basement was finished to a basic level by the builder. We designed and custom-built the wet bar, the wine cellar, the reclaimed wood beams, all the stonework and the new dividing wall. We also added the mirrored niches for the liquor display just outside the wine cellar and which are visible by the bar. We repaired the floor in places where needed.

A non load bearing wall was removed to make an open concept kitchen and dinning space. We installed an island to make extra work space. To keep clean and dimple look we installed 6" basic floor molding's, simple white shaker cabinets and added a black granite counter top for contrast. A white subway tile backlash was added for texture.

Designed by Sheryl Manning of Reico Kitchen & Bath in Charlotte, NC in collaboration with Home Care & Remodeling, this multi-room design includes a kitchen, pantry and laundry room. The kitchen and pantry feature the Merillat Masterpiece Turner door style in the finishes Onyx and Barley. The laundry room features Merillat Basics Collins in a Cotton finish with Bally Butcher Block maple tops. Reico provided the design, cabinets and butcher block for this project. “This remodel of a 1979 home was challenging but fun! The homeowner had a very clear idea of what they wanted, and chose a modern transitional look with a Parisian influence, utilizing the Onyx finish with Brushed Gold hardware, and natural wood floating shelves, finished in a light brown Barley stain,” said Sheryl. “We utilized every space, opening up a large closet for the oven and pantry cabinet and a small closet to form an art/display niche. The laundry room was not functional, with just a small wall for the washer-dryer. We placed wall cabinets above, pulling them forward 6" for ease of access. We added a working pantry and counter space for small appliances with butcher-block tops.” “What a fun remodel, functional and beautiful, and a pleasure to work with a client with a good eye for design!” “Sheryl from Reico was easy to work with and responsive as we worked through the design process!” said the client. “We were able to achieve the French modern traditional style I dreamed of while also maximizing the space. This chic/contemporary spiral staircase was designed for a working mom. After a long day of work she loves to have friends over & sip champagne and wine in this open concept space, while still being able to see her children. In this space, you will also see the formal family room, living room, the kitchen, and the dining room. Wallpaper was added to the staircase walls to give the space texture and depth. The chandelier if simple, yet stunning, making this an amazing focal point to the staircase. This is a piece her guests will continue to talk about for years to come.
