Inspiration for an eclectic home design remodel in Seattle

Client wanted to convert the back section of the property into "livable" living space by pouring an easy to clean concrete slab and a shade structure. The storage shed to the left was built to mimic the existing storage shed to the right. Finesse, Inc. refinished the existing storage shed. We added electrical for lighting and receptacles to the area. The timber is a Rough Sawn Douglas Fir draws the solid colored stain deeper into the wood giving it a nice sealed finish. All the material was pre-coated prior to assembly and final coat was applied after install. Jessica Abler, Sun Valley, CA

Converted from an existing Tuff Shed garage, the Beech Haus ADU welcomes short stay guests in the heart of the bustling Williams Corridor neighborhood. Natural light dominates this self-contained unit, with windows on all sides, yet maintains privacy from the primary unit. Double pocket doors between the Living and Bedroom areas offer spatial flexibility to accommodate a variety of guests and preferences. And the open vaulted ceiling makes the space feel airy and interconnected, with a playful nod to its origin as a truss-framed garage. A play on the words Beach House, we approached this space as if it were a cottage on the coast. Durable and functional, with simplicity of form, this home away from home is cozied with curated treasures and accents. We like to personify it as a vacationer: breezy, lively, and carefree.

via our website ` "This Cottage is one of my favorites. It is in response to the many who have asked for a multi purpose building that will keep both happy. It took a year and twelve revisions before this design was finalized. It makes very good use of the space while providing an aesthetically pleasing appearance. The 5’ double doors on the gable end are adequate for a lawn tractor, ATV, and/or firewood storage. With the addition of a workbench and cabinet space, the interior 8×10 can easily be converted into a potting area or workshop."

It can be converted to a very attractive storage shed when the kids out grow it. Reminiscent of old Victorian houses, the steep rooflines and graceful dormer add a fresh style to boring backyard sheds. The two 2×2 opening windows fill the 96 square feet with lots of light making this quaint little cottage irresistible for the kid inside us all. The single door in the dormer is complemented with large double doors on the gable end allowing bulky items to fit in the shelter.

A vintage version of the Stars & Stripes add patriotic charm and color to the art studio. A worn leather couch sits happily under the flag and lends itself to creative daydreaming.

Two twin beds in an additional guest room are the perfect place for grandkids or friends who have come to visit the lake side cabin. Upholstered striped headboards and a classic oak side table with vintage style sconces keep it simple, clean and very functional.
