DHD Architecture and Interior DesignDHD Crosby Street Loft in SOHO, NYC
The Crosby Street Loft building is located on a cobblestone block in the Soho Cast Iron Historic District. Built in 1882, it was formerly a department store, and converted in 2001 to a 10-unit loft condominium. Our renovation of a second floor loft retains and celebrates many of the original details, including generous, open spaces, 14 foot plus ceiling heights, Corinthian-style columns, and a continuous 120 foot exposed brick wall with integrated archways. The design was a collaborative process, integrating elements discovered on the client’s world travels. Design features include a 12 foot tall glass lounge, two fireplaces, Control4 smart home system, a stone, cold-rolled steel and custom walnut cabinet kitchen and living room, and a luxurious master suite reminiscent of a 5-star hotel.

Century Stair CompanyThis spectacular straight staircase bridges past and present in an award-winning Georgetown townhouse transformation. Designed to preserve a sense of history within a sleek modern space, it features a striking contrast between stark white balusters, newels, and risers and a bold black handrail. This dramatic interplay of light and dark echoes throughout the rest of the townhouse, creating visual continuity across multiple levels. Natural wood treads ground the design, adding warmth and an organic element that softens the contemporary palette while honoring the home's historical roots.

StairworksThese Auckland homeowners wanted an industrial style look for their interior home design. So when it came to building the staircase, handrail and balustrades, we knew the exposed steel in a matte black was going to be the right look for them.
Due to the double stringers and concrete treads, this style of staircase is extremely solid and has zero movement, massively reducing noise.
Our biggest challenge on this project was that the double stringer staircase was designed with concrete treads that needed to be colour matched to the pre-existing floor.
