lisa furey interiorsOur goal on this project was to create a live-able and open feeling space in a 690 square foot modern farmhouse. We planned for an open feeling space by installing tall windows and doors, utilizing pocket doors and building a vaulted ceiling. An efficient layout with hidden kitchen appliances and a concealed laundry space, built in tv and work desk, carefully selected furniture pieces and a bright and white colour palette combine to make this tiny house feel like a home. We achieved our goal of building a functionally beautiful space where we comfortably host a few friends and spend time together as a family.

Meredith EricksenTuscan Blue Design was brought into this project (house addition) when the client realized she needed a creative-functional-layout for her new kitchen. The first thing the client said to us was that she wanted to see the view out the bay window as she cooked in her kitchen...that led to the idea of two functional islands instead of perimeter cabinetry. She was drawn to farmhouse style kitchens but didn't want her space to feel 'country'. We took classic farmhouse style elements...bead board + painted cabinetry...updated the color palette using warm gray + warm white, custom storage options, and accent lighting to create a fresh take on the farmhouse style.

OLSON LEWIS + ArchitectsShingle-style guest cottage addition with garage below and interior connector from the main dining room of an early 1900 existing house.
Sited so that garage entrance and drive works within the existing landscape elevation and orientation, the guest cottage connects directly to the first floor of the main house. This results in an interesting structural dynamic where the walls of the second floor addition are square to the main house, and the lower garage walls corkscrew at a forty-five degree angle to the walls above.
Inspired by their fond memories of travels to the island of Malta, the client requested warm neutral finishes and chose honed cream marble flooring with tight fitting grout lines and an intricate pattern of a Walker Zanger marble tile for the fireplace surround. "Dove White" walls with "Antique White" trim were selected in traditional simplicity to replicate the standard of the existing house and create a seamless transition to the addition. Locally handcrafted copper sconces gently illuminate the space and maintain the period-style of the home.

Being only a couple of houses away from the shores of Lake Erie, Raymond and Jennifer's house was designed to reflect a coastal state of mind. The couple was in on every aspect of its creation, hammering nails, and raising and finishing walls themselves.
"We have a love for East Coast homes, Maine cottages... I also love the South, and Georgia plantations," says Jennifer. "We needed to find a happy medium to incorporate the look and feel for both." While the style of their home embraces aspects of a summer cottage environment, its understated design provides a perfect backdrop for Jennifer's ever-changing decor.
