Description: The Plane Cloud is a decorative pendant lamp shaped by the geometric play of 12 identical curls of steam-bent wood - reminiscent of the shaving curls off a well tuned plane. Recognition: The Plane Cloud launched in January 2014 at the Toronto Interior Design Show. It was recognized as one of the top design finds of the show by Sarah Richardson, Blog TO, Livewithculture.ca and GalerieCO of Montreal. It has since been featured in countless design magazines and blogs internationally. Distribution: It is available for purchase at the Storyboard Furniture shop, and Lighting Nelson and Garret in Toronto. We are in talks with retail locations across Canada. Materials: The steam bent strips of wood are salvaged from Toronto’s urban forest. A variety of wood species are used based on availability and suitability. One side of the curl is finished with a Scandinavian traditional soap finish. The other side is coloured with liquitex professional colour fast spray paint, which is available in close to 100 colours. Our production models have white spun metal fittings, 8’ of white wire and a ceiling plate. All lamps are ESA certified.

At the beginning of the seventies Arch. Cini Boeri revolutionized the furniture market with a product range, nowadays an “evergreen”: the modular sofas Strips , which belong to the history of arflex. It deals of one of the most famous products, designed in1972, which awarded the prize Compasso d’Oro and it is displayed in several museums in the world, like the Triennale in Milan, in Tokyo, Moma in New York, etc….The main characteristic is a removable quilted cover. Available also as bed and as sofa-bed allows countless combinations. Arch. Cini Boeri always tried to realize innovative ideas to improve the quality of life. This idea was applied to the Strips bed, where the cover becomes part of the bed itself: by opening a simple zip, the bed is ready, only a pillow must be added.Also for the sofa, the padding are an integral part of the cover, positioned on a wooden frame, same are in non-deformable polyurethane foam, to guarante the best comfort of the seat: all innovative materials, used for the first time in the furniture market.

After many years of careful consideration and planning, these clients came to us with the goal of restoring this home’s original Victorian charm while also increasing its livability and efficiency. From preserving the original built-in cabinetry and fir flooring, to adding a new dormer for the contemporary master bathroom, careful measures were taken to strike this balance between historic preservation and modern upgrading. Behind the home’s new exterior claddings, meticulously designed to preserve its Victorian aesthetic, the shell was air sealed and fitted with a vented rainscreen to increase energy efficiency and durability. With careful attention paid to the relationship between natural light and finished surfaces, the once dark kitchen was re-imagined into a cheerful space that welcomes morning conversation shared over pots of coffee. Every inch of this historical home was thoughtfully considered, prompting countless shared discussions between the home owners and ourselves. Southern Beach Getaway in WaterColor Private Residence / WaterColor, Florida Architect: Geoff Chick & Associates Builder: Chris Clark Construction The E. F. San Juan team collaborated closely with architect Geoff Chick, builder Chris Clark, interior designer Allyson Runnels, and the homeowners to bring their design vision to reality. This included custom interior and exterior millwork, pecky cypress ceilings in various rooms of the home, different types of wall and ceiling paneling in each upstairs bedroom, custom pecky cypress barn doors and beams in the master suite, Euro-Wall doors in the living area, Weather Shield windows and doors throughout, Georgia pine porch ceilings, and Ipe porch flooring. Challenges: Allyson and the homeowners wanted each of the children’s upstairs bedrooms to have unique features, and we addressed this from a millwork perspective by producing different types of wall and ceiling paneling for each of these rooms. The homeowners also loved the look of pecky cypress and wanted to see this unique type of wood featured as a highlight throughout the home. Solution: In the main living area and kitchen, the coffered ceiling presents pecky cypress stained gray to accent the tiled wall of the kitchen. In the adjoining hallway, the pecky cypress ceiling is lightly pickled white to make a subtle contrast with the surrounding white paneled walls and trim. The master bedroom has two beautiful large pecky cypress barn doors and several large pecky cypress beams that give it a cozy, rustic yet Southern coastal feel. Off the master bedroom is a sitting/TV room featuring a pecky cypress ceiling in a stunning rectangular, concentric pattern that was expertly installed by Edgar Lara and his skilled team of finish carpenters. We also provided twelve-foot-high floor-to-ceiling Euro-Wall Systems doors in the living area that lend to the bright and airy feel of this space, as do the Weather Shield windows and doors that were used throughout the home. Finally, the porches’ rich, South Georgia pine ceilings and chatoyant Ipe floors create a warm contrast to the bright walls, columns, and railings of these comfortable outdoor spaces. The result is an overall stunning home that exhibits all the best characteristics of the WaterColor community while standing out with countless unique custom features. --- Photography by Jack Gardner
