Disappearing or Pond-less Waterfalls allow you to enjoy the look and sound of moving water without the maintenance of a pond. A waterfall is undoubtedly the most beautiful and coveted feature in a landscape. The Pond-less Waterfall has made many Texans who were previously unable to relax to the sweet sounds of falling water very happy. It's a great alternative for those who are just trying to 'get their feet wet' or looking to fit a little piece of paradise into their own backyard. If your Texas Landscape lacks the space or if you have safety concerns about a pond, then a Pond-less Waterfall is perfect for you.

Wine is one of the few things in life that improves with age. But it can also rapidly deteriorate. The three factors that have the most direct impact on a wine's condition are light, humidity and temperature. Because wine can often be expensive and often appreciate in value, security is another issue. This basement-remodeling project began with ensuring the quality and security of the owner’s wine collection. Even more important, the remodeled basement had to become an inviting place for entertaining family and friends. A wet bar/entertainment area became the centerpiece of the design. Cherry wood cabinets and stainless steel appliances complement the counter tops, which are made with a special composite material and designed for bar glassware - softer to the touch than granite. Unused space below the stairway was turned into a secure wine storage room, and another cherry wood cabinet holds 300 bottles of wine in a humidity and temperature controlled refrigeration unit. The basement remodeling project also includes an entertainment center and cozy fireplace. The basement-turned-entertainment room is controlled with a two-zone heating system to moderate both temperature and humidity. To infuse a nautical theme a custom stairway post was created to simulate the mast from a 1905 vintage sailboat. The mast/post was hand-crafted from mahogany and steel banding.

In the entry hall, a variety of patterns and finishes play off of one another with a sense of ease, and sets the tone for the rest of the house. Bisazza's Vienna Nero floor mosaics give the decor vintage appeal, while mirrored globe pendants and ornamental wallpaper lend a dash of opulence. Taking advantage of the hall's length, the Novogratzes installed a series of coat hooks for easy access. With a fast-paced family of nine, keeping organized is crucial, and practical ideas such as this make it possible to minimize clutter. This British Colonial theme new residence sits atop the ridgeline on the west end of Sanibel Island overlooking the Gulf. Carefully manicured dune and beach access offer breathtaking views from the main and upper patios of the residence to the beach and the sunset. A lush, tropical entry runs the length of each side property line from the road, along each side of the house, to the CCCL line and provides a dense privacy barrier from the beach access path along the east property line. Tropical bamboo, white bird of paradise, traveler palms, dwarf leaf clusia and relocated native trees and shrubs make up the dense buffer. In the front of the residence a specimen multi-stem Sylvester Date Palm anchors the center drive island while stately royal palms, foxtail palms and multi-stem adonidia palms accent the foundation of the residence. Curved coconut palms march down the driveway to the street. Individual theme gardens were created in the side yards which include a Moon Garden, Fruit Garden, Butterfly Garden, Wetland Garden, Tropical Garden and Bamboo Garden. Architectural garden elements include a Walpole garden gate, arbor and mail box with a custom house name sign attached. As one walks the many different specimen gardens, large concrete garden benches from Curry & Co. offer a place to pause while botanical plant label stakes indicate plant species and origin. A California style espalier wall with confederate jasmine vine softens the back side of the pool wall, which is visible upon the entrance to the garages and espalier on the pool side wall for trellis bougainvillea offer vertical elements to connect the house and the landscape with tropical vegetation and color. This ideal client had a specific idea for their property which we were able to visualize and bring to reality.

This was a Illinois Landscape Contractors Excellence in Landscape Awards, Gold Award wining project in 2008. This home was also featured on the Glen Ellyn Garden walk.
