She incorporates her unique background as a medicine woman, feng shui master, cultural anthropologist, sensorimotor-integrative therapist, and metaphysical healer. This garden was a collaboration between Melinda Joy and her daughter, Kim Colwell, an interior designer and second generation feng shui master. Our client’s background gave us hints of what they wanted in their custom built home. He has roots in Oregon, and was raised in a timber frame lodge style home. She was born and raised in China, and her style reflected both her native culture and appreciation for Western traditional style. The couple recently moved back to the United States after living aboard in Shanghai. SLS Custom Homes broke ground on this 4000 square foot home nestled on 20 acres in the fall of 2011. Honoring the client’s tastes and preferences, our interior design infused a refined rustic lodge with hints of Asian style. We worked with the client covering every interior and exterior inch of the home. Inspiration for a rustic home design remodel in Raleigh

In dialogue with history The gently curving figures create a whimsical play resembling an asymmetrical arabesque. Flirting with the traditional motif of the carpet's ornament is a meta-message addressed to cultural memory. The canvas of the rug is divided into segments by light lines, which look three-dimensional thanks to the yellow reflex. The framed spaces are colored as if isolated from the others. The color varies both through the effect of inhomogeneous coloring of the threads and weaving of two or three close colors next to each other, forming a background of a complex color gradient of shades of gray and blue. The virtue of centuries-old traditions of hand knotting The rug is made in the traditional hand weaving workshop of Nepal. Masters of this art have been preserving the technology for hundreds of years, and in collaboration with modern European designers create unique rugs at the junction of tradition and modernity. Natural raw materials are used in the creation of this rug, which reflects the idea of authentic aesthetics and modern requirements for ecological comfort. The density of the rug is 100 knots per inch.

This beautifully rustic gazebo / porch nestled in a hidden corner of Lansdowne VA overlooking the golf course was the result of a collaboration between Steadfast's Structural knowledge and the clients design ideas.
