Designed by architect Jeremiah Battles of Acacia Architects and built by Ben Quie & Sons, this beautiful new home features details found a century ago, combined with a creative use of space and technology to meet the owner’s mobility needs. Even the elevator is detailed with quarter-sawn oak paneling. Feeling as though it has been here for generations, this home combines architectural salvage with creative design. The owner brought in vintage lighting fixtures, a Tudor fireplace surround, and beveled glass for windows and doors. The kitchen pendants and sconces were custom made to match a 1912 Sheffield fixture she had found. Quarter-sawn oak in the living room, dining room, and kitchen, and flat-sawn oak in the pantry, den, and powder room accent the traditional feel of this brand-new home. Sited on a quiet street in Palo Alto, this new home is a warmer take on the popular modern farmhouse style. Rather than high contrast and white clapboard, earthy stucco and warm stained cedar set the scene of a forever home for an active and growing young family. The heart of the home is the large kitchen and living spaces opening the entire rear of the house to a lush, private backyard. Downstairs is a full basement, designed to be kid-centric with endless spaces for entertaining. The owner of this home in Maine involved Koncerted in the design process from day one, allowing us to create unique, integrated systems with no workarounds. Design was first priority for this client, so all tech—including whole home audio, full surveillance, video doorbells, home entertainment, and five televisions—was chosen and installed with a minimalist aesthetic in mind. This secure, tech-enabled home also has as its centerpiece a custom-made floating staircase with embedded motion-sensored LED lights that give it a glowing effect. Open concept, entertaining-centric design begins at the through-n-through entry that links the front door to the magnificent Outdoor Living and views of the Hill Country beyond. The veranda’s glass doors open to multiple groupings of seating and lounging spaces. The firm creates visual interest through artful patterns and vibrant colors of nature repeated in cushions, rugs and accessories around the multiple groupings. Nestled in Pasadena's Old Mill neighborhood, this 1977 two-story home underwent a dramatic transformation. The once cramped, dark kitchen was reimagined into a light-filled, wellness-centric space. With custom-stained white oak cabinets, a ten-foot island, and high-quality kitchen appliances, this kitchen is perfect for health-conscious empty nesters.

As with many homes, this custom home needed to be very kitchen-centric to best serve the family. Meticulously prepared vegetarian Indian cuisine, often served at large family celebrations, called for a meticulously executed kitchen to serve as a backdrop for a very colorful family life. Our clients requested a classic “white-kitchen”… how many times have we had this request! Our intention was to come up with a design that exceeded their expectation for a typical white kitchen.
