Living Room in Alyssa Lane | Key Feature: A complete kitchen + living room transformation designed for a young, growing family who loved their home, but needed it to work harder and reflect their personality. The updated kitchen became the heart of the home, featuring a hidden smoothie station to keep daily essentials out of sight, plus a dedicated cocktail bar setup for entertaining. In the living room, the fireplace wall was fully reimagined by centering the previously cornered fireplace and creating a multifunctional media wall with custom furnishings and a statement chandelier. To top it off, the former formal dining room was transformed into a bar lounge with custom brass shelving, a black grasscloth backdrop, and a bold, elevated vibe perfect for hosting friends and family.
Challenge: This home belonged to a young couple with two small kids and a growing business, and while they loved the house itself, the spaces didn’t support the way they actually lived. The kitchen lacked function and storage, everyday routines (like smoothie-making) created visual clutter, and cocktail entertaining essentials were being shoved into the pantry with no dedicated space. The living room also felt awkward and unfinished due to the cornered fireplace, which made it difficult to create a centered, functional media wall. On top of that, the formal dining room wasn’t being used, leaving valuable square footage underutilized and disconnected from their lifestyle and personality.
Solution: We redesigned the home around how the family truly uses it day-to-day, focusing on function, personality, and elevated livability. In the kitchen, we created a modern, highly organized layout complete with a hidden smoothie station so daily supplies stay accessible but out of sight. For entertaining, we designed a dedicated bar area for Ryan, giving him a more inspired space to make cocktails without relying on pantry storage. In the living room, we centered the fireplace and fully revamped the feature wall into a multifunctional entertainment/media wall, then layered in custom furniture pieces and a statement chandelier to bring warmth and style. Finally, we converted the unused formal dining room into a bar lounge with custom brass shelving, a striking black grasscloth wall, and a sophisticated hangout space perfect for entertaining family and friends.

Built by Schumacher Homes, America's Largest Custom Home Builder, this stunning Charleston Earnhardt model home in Charlotte, North Carolina, effortlessly balances classic architectural inspiration with contemporary modern design. As one of our most popular customizable floor plans, the Charleston open-concept layout is designed for modern living, maximizing both storage and style. The exterior of this home boasts undeniable curb appeal, utilizing a dramatic mix of architectural elements including natural stone accents, open timber trusses, and dynamic multiple rooflines that create an unforgettable first impression. Inside, the grand main living space features soaring tall ceilings accented by rich interior cedar beams that span across both the great room and the kitchen, adding structural warmth and striking architectural detail. The gourmet kitchen is a chef's dream, equipped with expansive counter space, a large central island for family gatherings, and a giant walk-in pantry that ensures a highly organized, clutter-free kitchen design.
Perfect for busy families, a private pocket office off the main living area provides the ideal quiet work-from-home space or built-in desk zone. This area leads seamlessly into the luxurious primary suite (owner's retreat), which serves as a private oasis complete with a spacious, spa-like bathroom and two massive walk-in closets. Designed with a split-bedroom layout to maximize privacy, the additional spacious bedrooms sit on the opposite side of the home, ensuring children or guests enjoy their own dedicated space. Completing this home’s focus on daily functionality is a highly efficient mudroom drop zone located right off the entry, featuring a custom locker system with an integrated top storage shelf and bench seating to keep outerwear and daily essentials neatly organized.

Tucked just off the main living space, this versatile nook makes the most of its footprint as a bright, functional home office and study corner. Wall-mounted shelving keeps books, supplies, and daily essentials organized and within easy reach, while a large window and glass-paned door usher in soft natural light and views to the yard beyond. Durable carpet tile flooring and clean white walls give the space a practical, easy-care foundation, and the flexible layout leaves plenty of room to grow with the family's needs. It's a quiet, purposeful spot that speaks to how thoughtfully every inch of a home can be put to use.

This teen bathroom renovation transformed a tired, outdated space into a bright, thoughtfully designed retreat with timeless appeal—and far smarter storage.
The homeowners’ goal was simple: refresh the look of the bathroom while adding more functional storage to make the room work better for everyday life. Every design decision focused on maximizing both style and practicality within the existing footprint.
The shower immediately draws the eye with its rich, deep blue scalloped tile for dramatic impact. Subtle variation in the tile glaze adds depth and movement, while the soft arch pattern introduces character without overwhelming the room. A custom recessed niche, framed in crisp white, provides convenient storage for bath essentials while maintaining clean lines. The oversized light hex tile keeps the room feeling open and airy. A new white shaker vanity adds generous drawer and cabinet storage, topped with a seamless, low-maintenance countertop.
To further increase storage without crowding the room, a wall-mounted cabinet with reeded glass was added above the vanity—offering additional space for daily essentials while keeping the design light and airy. The wallpapered accent wall adds personality and warmth in a subtle, sophisticated way that will grow with the family.
The result is a bathroom that balances statement design with everyday practicality—turning a once tired space into a fresh, functional retreat that finally works for the homeowners’ teenagers. If your bathroom no longer works for your family, we can help reimagine it. Contact N Sabella to start planning your renovation.
